ccording to Monica Villalobos, “If you don’t take chances, your life will just stay the same.”

An award-winning Realtor® at RE/MAX Prestige in Costa Mesa, Monica is living in rhythm with her belief. Vibrant, friendly and knowledgeable, Monica is a passionate advocate of home ownership. She especially enjoys helping other young people overcome the fear associated with making a home purchase so they can enjoy the rewards that go along with it. Monica grew up in Valencia, where she has fond memories of touring model homes with her dad on weekends. Her interest in real estate grew as she observed his practice of buying homes, selling them, and moving up to larger properties. “I had a lofty goal that by age 25, I would buy something of my own,” she says. Monica earned her degree in Business Finance with a real estate emphasis from California State University, Fullerton. After some disappointing experiences with Realtors® and a tumultuous close of escrow, she achieved her goal of becoming a homeowner just a year later than planned. Although she had to make some financial sacrifices to close on her newly built home in Anaheim, she says that buying a home was the best decision she ever made. “Cars only depreciate, and I traded mine for an asset that will continue to appreciate, instead. I have a place to live where no one can raise my rent. It has already appreciated to the point where I could rent it out for substantially more than my all-in monthly payment.” Empowered by her personal success, Monica was

inspired to give up her lucrative position as an inside sales representative and become a Realtor®. She passed the real estate exam, gave her two weeks notice and put everything on the line to begin her new career. Monica joined RE/MAX Prestige for its strong leadership and dynamic office culture. “We’re like a family here. We’re an office of only about 15 agents, which is an anomaly in RE/MAX. We love where we work so much, we’ve actually trademarked #lovewhereyouwork. I’m not on a team, but we all support one another. If I have a question or need help with an open house, there is always someone available. Our broker is super knowledgeable and puts a lot of emphasis on ethics training. He is on the pro-standards committee for the Pacific West Association of Realtors® (PWAOR), so we’re always talking about situations where we need to use caution. We do everything by the book.”

Empowering Future Homeowners Monica has discovered that young professionals have a lot to offer in this fast-paced, people-driven business. Her authenticity both in person and in her social media presence has been a significant factor in growing her clientele. “People want to see that you’re human, so I always want to be myself. Because business is so much of my life, I want to show people my wins and my struggles, so the image they see is cohesive. I think it makes it a little easier for potential clients to trust me and want to work with me. It means a lot when someone chooses to work with me because I know that level of trust is there.” Gregarious by nature, Monica is quick to embrace her clients as friends. As a counselor and friend, she listens with purpose so she can tailor the real estate experience to their individual needs. Recently, when a client was feeling particularly stressed, Monica surprised her by leaving dinner in the refrigerator. “She was over the moon. I want to create that personal experience for my clients so they

know this isn’t just a transaction, it’s a relationship.” Monica’s clients frequently share their positive real estate experiences and give her five stars for her outstanding service. They describe her as “an absolute dream to work with,” “knowledgeable about the market and very patient,”and “always smiling and in a good mood.” A client who recently sold and purchased homes with Monica said: “I am in awe of the magnificent, truly caring service I have received from Monica during my selling and purchasing process. She is on top of everything and always goes out of her way to keep me up to date and to give me her honest opinion regarding the true value of my home. (She) has helped me stage, as well as done extremely professional photographs, flyers and video clips. Her open houses are very professional and thorough. In my long lifetime, I have never had the luck of finding this jewel of a Realtor®!”

Monica is a Master Certified Negotiation Expert (MCNE), and her skill as a negotiator helps her create favorable results for both buyers and sellers. In a market that has lately been tough for buyers, she has been successful at getting their offers accepted. For sellers, her list-to-sell ratio is 102.2 percent, as opposed to the average 98 percent in the Anaheim market where she focuses much of her real estate practice. Recently, Monica took another big risk that opened new possibilities in her life when she signed up to participate in a television dating show. The show’s format changed once it went into production, and she found herself on the

premier episode of “The Proposal.” If you’re a fan of the show, you will recognize Monica as this season’s winner. “I signed up just for fun, and I ended up learning a lot about myself. When I had to answer questions on the spot, I wasn’t nervous. I enjoyed it. I got energy from the crowd. I realized that I liked being in front of a camera.” Monica has parlayed that experience into a series of instructional real estate videos on YouTube. She also makes engaging appearances in her listing videos. With Monica’s star quality, stay tuned — you never know where you might see her face next!

Monica V Realty When she’s not helping someone buy or sell real estate, Monica loves spending time at Disneyland. She is also a world traveler who has visited destinations as far away as Egypt. Hawaii holds a special place in her heart as the site of her first ever solo vacation. “I took myself to Maui last year, and it was one of the best things I’ve ever done. I just needed time to relax and do me. I read a lot, reflected on the year and wrote about my goals for 2018. I’m planning to do it again this year.” Giving back is also a priority in Monica’s life. She is a regular volunteer at a local soup kitchen and looks forward to the holiday season each year as a time for giving to those in need. She is a keen advocate of pet adoption,

and her own dog, Toby, is a rescue. He appeared with her on “The Proposal,” and he is the star of his own Instagram account. Monica is passionate about empowering others to take the leap of faith necessary to become homeowners. “I recommend that anybody make the sacrifices in order to own a home. I believe home ownership is really beneficial for people my age, and I want to build awareness to show that it’s so much easier than people think. I enjoy being the person who makes it possible.”
