asoud Riazati is a true international businessman.

A former commercial airline pilot for companies based in the United States, Germany and his native

Iran, Masoud has travelled the globe, meeting people from all walks of life and countless nationalities, always relishing the opportunity to learn about new customs and cultures, no matter where his travels take him.

So when he switched careers from flying to real estate in 1989, he was determined to focus as much on an international clientele as a domestic one. With creativity, determination and ambition, Masoud began cultivating his client base.

Today, as broker/owner of RRN Realty and RRN International, he’s worked with buyers from more than 40 countries and nearly all 50 states.

And for all the differences among his clients, he says one thing remains the same – communication.

“Customer service starts with listening and knowing your clients’ needs,” he says. “But it also means acquiring the experience and knowledge to help them and then using that knowledge and expertise in a timely manner so their needs are met.”

Masoud began his real estate career like many other agents – working for a large, big-name brokerage. Right from the start, his energy and focus helped him establish himself as a real estate success story. His first year in the industry he earned a Rookie of the Year award. Since then he has earned the RE/MAX Hall of Fame award and many other accolades as he worked his way through companies such as Century 21, RE/MAX, and Keller Williams. “While working for those companies, I learned systems and processes that help me today,” he says. “Those help, but the largest part of my success comes simply from experience.”

The Grand Opening of RRN Realty, Los Angeles Office, August 1, 2014 As Masoud’s clientele grew, so did his reputation. He gained the respect of his colleagues and clients. But it wasn’t enough. His desire to form a company with an international reach also grew. So in 2009, he opened the doors to RRN Realty and RRN International. “As the international clientele grew in Southern California, I saw a huge need for a real estate company that could capture the clientele by offering world-class service and an international marketing reach,” Masoud says.

He Was Right RRN Realty and its international real estate referral arm, RRN International, have generated millions of dollars worth of commercial and residential real estate, locally and globally. He works closely with his clients on a wide range of real estate needs, including loan modification, short sales, investment properties and more.

Being well-versed in multiple aspects of real estate helps Masoud to assist his clients with experience and dedication. And because he is knowledgeable in all areas of the San Diego market, Masoud is able to help his buyers

find what they want -- and find it quickly. His extensive referral network helps him find listings around the country and around the world.

“There is no substitute for experience when it comes to knowing the market,” he says. “By knowing what my clients want and being willing to go the extra mile for them, I take the time to find the perfect property whether it’s an investment, commercial property or a dream home.”

Running a successful international business means thinking outside the box, something Masoud excels at.

His listing marketing includes satellite television spots in countries including the United States, Iran, Australia, South America, Europe, Canada and the Middle East, as well as traditional marketing and a strong online presence.

His websites draw thousands of visitors and he’s an active member of four real estate associations -- Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange and Riverside. Eventually, Masoud hopes to have a physical presence in multiple sites around the country to better serve his clients and attract the best real estate talent in the United States.

In addition to his real estate activities, Masoud was a co-sponsor and co-director of the first Persian All Sports Hall of Fame event held in California. The event honored 82 athletes that came from different parts of the world who had played in world cups or Olympics who had won gold and other medals. Among those was Abdullah Movahed, who won an impressive six consecutive world and Olympic wrestling championships between 1965 and 1970 in the freestyle lightweight division.

“This program was broadcast live by six international satellite television stations around the world,” Masoud said. “It was a chance for me to have a small part in honoring these exceptional athletes, some of whom were all but forgotten.” He’s also a former member of the board of governors with the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals.

“It’s important to me to provide knowledgeable representation, no matter what my clients’ needs are.”

Those needs often include financing, tax issues, 1031 exchanges, residential and commercial investing as well as retirement planning through real estate investment. And despite his own vast wealth of knowledge, Masoud is quick to encourage other agents, especially those new to the real estate industry.

“Have faith in yourself,” he tells them. “Never underestimate yourself or put yourself down for something you don’t know. We are all in a learning process. If you put your clients’ interests ahead of your own, and don’t count your commission, you’ll be fine.”

Masoud also believes in giving back to the community – whether it’s to his own neighborhood or the world. After Hurricane Katrina destroyed parts of Louisiana in 2005, Masoud was among a group of San Diego residents who opened their homes to victims of disaster. “Eleven residents, six children and five adults had been on the rooftop of a building for two days, trapped by rising floodwaters,” he recalls. “I was blessed to be able to host them for three months after they were rescued and relocated to California. The best moments of my life come when I am able to do something for the community, the people, the country or the world.”

If there’s one thing Masoud struggles with, it’s finding balance. Endlessly driven to succeed, he admits he spends too much time in the office and not enough time on recreation. When he does, though, Masoud can be found flying his beloved plane or cheering on his favorite sports teams.

“I enjoy my work so much that it doesn’t really seem like work,” he says. “Seeing my clients achieve their goals is my priority. But this is beautiful San Diego and balance is an area that lacks attention for me. Maybe I should work on that?”
