HOURS: Up to 20 hours each week, including early mornings and Wednesday fixtures
START DATE: Monday 14th July 2025
The Trailfinders Rugby Academy is the academy of Ealing Trailfinders, an ambitious and progressive, rugby union club based at Brunel University, West London.
The Academy’s aim is to produce world class talent through a dual elite rugby and academic journey.
This is an opportunity to volunteer with Trailfinders during a very exciting period of the Club’s history.
Following a successful 2024/25 season with promotion to Women’s BUCS Super Rugby, the Performance Department at Trailfinders Women is looking for an undergraduate or masters volunteer/work placement student in either Strength & Conditioning or Sport Science, who will assist the Women’s Academy based at Brunel University.
This person would ideally be committed to pursuing or interested in exploring a career within professional sports joining us for the 2025/26 season.
The role will involve assisting daily strength & conditioning provisions, including but not limited to: coaching & delivering on pitch and weight room sessions, data collection and nutrition, as part of the performance programme.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coaching & Delivering:
● Assist the planning & delivery of purposeful warm ups for on-field rugby, speed & agility sessions
● Assist in designing & delivering strength/power-based gym sessions
● Assist in planning & delivering conditioning sessions, both pitch and gym based
● Assist under the guidance of Lead Athletic Development Coach in planning & delivering conditioning sessions for players in all stages of rehabilitation
Testing/Profiling/Monitoring
● Assist with monitoring & reporting on daily wellbeing (MSK, RPE etc)
● Assist the Lead Athletic Development Coach with relevant testing days
● Learn and assist the use of sports science technology for performance profiling & monitoring, such as GPS & Optojump
Return-to-Play:
● Learn and assist S&C and medical staff with rehabilitation for injured players
Nutrition:
● Learn and provide nutritional support to whole squad
Other:
● To lead the second team S&C provisions in-season for fixtures, where necessary
● Promote, maintain and uphold the standards and values within the club
● Set a positive example and contribute to team environment and culture
● Assist the Academy Head Coach & Team Manager on any other reasonable request

QUALIFICATIONS
SKILLSET
● Currently undertaking an undergraduate or masters degree in Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science or a science-related subject
● A proactive & innovative approach
● Good organisational skills
● Excellent interpersonal & communications skills
● Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
● Good punctuality & timekeeping
