What is Access?
Studying, studying, studying and more studying. In short, welcome to high school and the larger load of work it brings. Although it looks scary on the surface, be assured that no student drowns. Access hour, a thirty-five minute period on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, is the EVHS designed life jacket that guarantees all students extra study time during the school day. Access is a self-aid period in which students
can complete homework, catch up on late or absent work, and travel to teachers when they need help. Between fourth and fifth hour, it is a tool for students to boost their academics. The keys to acing access are showing up, as attendance is a “big factor” in gaining credit for the class, and using this midday hiatus to accomplish work.
from 9:45 to 10:15 where students can get additional help from teachers. Ms. Grilli, an EVHS counselor, hopes that students will “take advantage of the opportunities” both access and flex time provide. Increased independence accompanies high school and such valuable built-in times are perfect opportunities for students to advocate for themselves and imWhat about prove their academics Flex-Time? throughout the semesIn addition to access, ter. EVHS is also adding “flex time” to the schedule. It is an optional half hour on Wednesday mornings

--> Set a specific time for studying each night. It may be difficult to meet this schedule 100% of the time, but try to be consistent because it will help create good study habits for the rest of the year. --> Choosing a good study space is super important to academic success. Choose a place that is quiet, has good lighting, is not too hot or too cold, and comfortable (but not too comfortable!) --> Vary your methods of review. Some ways to study include: rewriting/rephrasing material, teaching the material to someone else, creating flashcards, and highlighting key ideas. --> Take time to review notes from class the night after taking them. Use highlighters, sticky notes, and colored pens to make annotations about what is confusing, important, or interesting. --> Maintain a single planner that includes all sports games, upcoming tests, coursework, and other important dates so that nothing gets forgotten. --> Doing hours of work in a single sitting can actually be detrimental to students’ productivity and focus. For every 40 minutes of academic work, take a 5-10 minute rest break. --> When sitting down to study, make sure that any cellular devices or other electronics are far away. When using the computer, close all unnecessary tabs before starting an assignment. --> If something is difficult to understand, do not get discouraged! Teachers are here to help, but they cannot do so if they do not know that they are needed. Reach out to teachers via email or in person to get any additional tools and tips for success.

“Be there or be square”. Welcome back to school students, and what better way to celebrate it than a dance! EVHS’s third annual back to school dance will be held the first Friday of the school year. It is a casual dance for students to immediately get “involved in the school,” says student-council
advisor Mr. Little. For five dollars, students can show off their best dance moves, meet new classmates and reconnect with old ones. Wear some Vans, Adidas, Converse, or other dancing shoes and be prepared for an amazing start to the school year.

The courtyard is one of many hangout spots in Eagle Valley. It contains adirondack chairs, stone seating, cornhole games, and beautiful botany. As well, it is an access point between two buildings to make travelling to classes much quicker.
5| Counseling Office
The counseling space is seperated into three sections: College and Career Readiness, Personal Counseling, and Academic Counseling.
