The City of Eagle Parks and Recreation Department is thrilled to announce our new Recreation Guide for spring and summer. We’ve worked hard to offer a variety of programs from preschool age to adults. Registration-page14.

From the Mayor The City of Eagle is pleased to present our first Parks & Recreation Activity Guide! This publication, common in other cities, will keep you up to date with the recreational opportunities in Eagle.

We are excited about the launch of our community recreation programs this year. From youth sports to adult discovery classes to preschool camps, we are steadily adding programs for the Eagle community. Is there a program you would like to see in Eagle? Be sure to reach out to our recreation staff with your ideas and suggestions!

Summer is almost here, and we hope you consider our new programs when making plans for your family. Be sure to check out our youth camps line-up; a variety of sports camps, themed day camps, and preschool camps are among our program offerings. Also new to the summer line up is the inaugural Family Campout to celebrate the start of summer, because nothing says summer like sleeping under the stars! Eagle Fun Days and the Fun Day Run will be in July as always, with the addition of a beanbag toss (“Cornhole”) tournament for all skill levels.

As we leave behind the snow and cold, I look forward to seeing you out enjoying our parks and trails. From biking at the Sports Complex to walking the greenbelt, Eagle has something for everyone.

Eagle Park BMX

What is BMX Bicycle Motorcross (BMX) tracks consists of a

starting gate for up to 8 riders and a groomed dirt race course made of various jumps and turns. BMX is one of the most watched Olympic summer sports.

Eagle Park BMX is located in the fabulous foothills of Eagle, adjacent to the Eagle Sports Complex.

THE GREENBELT EXPANSION

Paving the way West he City of Eagle has made it a priority to finish paving the greenbelt between Eagle T and Garden City on the north side of the North Channel of the Boise River. The City Council has worked hard to make this happen, but no two partners have worked harder to slow our progress than water and gravity.

Currents have caused the channel to migrate.

It’s worn away sections of the river bank; some banks are now too close to the path. Many agencies will play a part in this restoration to ensure it’s performed with the environment and habitat in mind. We want this pathway to the west to withstand annual runoffs for decades to come.

And we hope to make it all happen this year.

In doing so, we will be building on a history and geography that dates back to prehistoric times, when the benches that make up our valley were once shorelines of an enormous river that flowed west through our valley. That giant river left us with a fertile bottomland – a great place to grow food, raise families and build lives.

Tamer now and known as the Boise River, we love it like the rare thing it has become, home to more wildlife and trees per mile than just about anywhere within a half a tank of gas from here.

We hope to keep this stretch open during the project, but your safety is our first priority. We’ll be posting signs at the site and information on the City of Eagle website as soon as it is available. Your patience will be appreciated and rewarded.

Eagle’s expanding greenbelt is a unique asset that so few communities enjoy. In the future, the city plans to pave other sections of the greenbelt and add new links to better connect Eagle to the river and its surrounding communities.

We even plan to create loops within Eagle to increase your options.

This work will provide a safer and smoother corridor for bike commuting, improved access for sportsmen and other nature lovers, and a fun and beautiful environment to walk, jog, pedal, skate, and stroll with our pets.

DID YOU KNOW? The Eagle Senior & Community Center is available for rent! From pancake feeds to exercise classes to HOA meetings, this is a great community space. Additionally, private events such as weddings and wakes may now serve alcohol (with proper permits) in the center. The Eagle Arboretum Park, adjacent to the center, is a great outdoor extension of the Senior & Community Center for your next special event.

PRAYER FLAG PROJECT/ Ages 10+ Artists and crafters of all ages are invited to create a unique fabric flag that reflects their hopes, dreams and prayers. Flags can be made on fabric with paint, applique, beads, and inkjet printing or any embellishment you wish. Materials and inspiration provided.

Flags may be included as part of the Eagle Prayer Flag Project.

Leave those electronics at home and join us in getting back to nature at Guerber Park. The fun will include large group games, a tent decorating contest, campfire stories, s’mores, and more!

Participants must provide their own camping gear (tents, sleeping bags). Food trucks will be onsite for dinner, or you may pack a picnic/use the grills in Guerber Park. Dessert and a light breakfast will be included.

EAGLE FUN DAY RUN/ All ages The 3rd annual Eagle Fun Run features a 5K and 10K run/walk sponsored by Eagle High School. The race starts and ends at Eagle City Hall and winds through the beautiful streets of Eagle. A delicious breakfast and fresh squeezed OJ will await you after the race.
