students and provide a contextual overview of his life and work. “Ola is an incredibly talented, intelligent and compassionate individual with a unique life story that is still unfolding,” said Larry Luttinger, organizer of the event. “He could have chosen a comfortable career in law, but instead chose a path pursuing artistic beauty and social justice. This path is leading him to international acclaim of the first order. Ironically, he is still relatively unknown to American audiences. I also believe that this is the very

first time that a nominee for UNESCO ambassadorship has been presented in concert in Syracuse. It’s an honor to host his short residency here, and a pleasure to put it together.” The CNY Jazz Cabarets always feature fine national talent in a club atmosphere, with cash bar and food stations available starting at 4 p.m. Music begins at 5 p.m. Admission is $30 at the door ($10 with student ID) or $25 in advance at cnyjazz.org or 479-5299. All ticketholders will have parking validated in the Sheraton garage.
