EAGAN NEO

I'm Eagan Neo, an architecture student at Nanyang Polytechnic. My interest in design started in secondary school, leading me to take Design and Technology. This enthusiasm developed into a desire to design with a purpose, particularly for people and their surroundings. It seemed obvious to pursue architecture as a way to integrate these passions and have a significant influence.

THE CATHAY REIMAGINED

STUDIO Y2S2

The Cathay Building, a historic emblem of Japanese influence and cinematic expression, now stands poised for its next chapter. Evolving with the times, it seeks to transform into a vibrant youth hub, embracing the digital age. Once a canvas for Japanese propaganda and a space for cinematic marvels, its iconic facade now awaits a new era of self-expression. This future envisions a haven for today's youth, where smartphones and cutting-edge technology become the modern mediums of creativity and connection. As the world evolves, so does The Cathay, bridging the past with the future as a platform for the boundless imagination of a new generation. In its walls, echoes of the past mingle with the aspirations of tomorrow, as it continues to symbolize not just a building, but now a modern youth hub that embodies and embraces self-expression.

INDUSTRY PROJECT

My internship at TWA has been an incredibly enriching experience. Over the past six months, I have gained invaluable knowledge, from honing technical skills to understanding the intricacies of architectural design. The opportunity to collaborate with talented professionals has deepened my appreciation for the field and expanded my expertise. The team at TWA is remarkably inclusive and passionate, creating an environment where learning and working are seamlessly integrated. I’ve not only learn a lot from the office but also forged meaningful friendships with colleagues who have been both supportive and inspiring.

Detail drawings for structural work, such as rebar in slabs and stairs, are essential for ensuring proper reinforcement and structural integrity. These drawings specify rebar placement, sizes, and spacing, guiding construction for strength and durability. Accurate detailing helps prevent structural issues, ensuring load distribution and adherence to design specifications. Such precision is crucial for both safety and the long-term performance of the concrete elements in the building.

BAMBOO PAVILLION

OVERESEA SIBU TRIP 2022

In order to push ourselves to construct real, tangible structures using the construction techniques we had learned, our school traveled to Sarawak Sibu in Malaysia. This enables us to see the design come to life through this trip rather than merely proposing a project that is not built, as in assignments and projects. We have developed a close friendship and learned many valuable lessons from one another.
