Founded in September 2007 by a group of high school students who shared a belief in the power of education, EACEF (East African Children’s Education Fund) utilizes a holistic, community-based approach to address educational inequity in East Africa while engaging the next generation of leaders and social activists.

Our Initiatives Concentrating in the areas of school facility construction, sanitation and educational programming, EACEF utilizes a unique system called the Nafasi Process to create educational change in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
ENGINEER! Educational Infrastructure Libraries, kitchens and classrooms addresses a lack of schooling facilities across East Africa.
EXPAND! School Programming Mentorship, teaching and feeding programs designed to augment a child’s education.
Our Projects Kirimara Primary Outside Nyeri, Kenya, EACEF’s first partner school educates the children of migrant day laborers who suffer from high unemployment, famine, drought and low levels of education. Results: In the first year of EACEF programming, Kirimara students improved 7% on their KCPE examinations and a record 15 students qualified for secondary school in 2009, compared to just 5 students in 2006.
Results: Average KCPE scores at Chania have increased 9% from 2008 to 2010. Improvements: Library (Partner Sponsored), eight classrooms, kitchen/dining hall, and water tanks constructed; mentorship, feeding and teaching programs implemented.
Shalom Junior School Located outside Fort Portal, Uganda, Shalom seeks to help the ignored local population by offering classes up to Standard 8 to children who otherwise would not be attending school.
ENERGIZE! Students through Health From rainwater tanks to hygiene classes, EACEF creates healthy environments to allow students to reach their full potential.
ENGAGE! Youth in Social Action Providing youth with the resources, opportunities and knowledge to channel their energy into measurable social impacts.
Improvements: Library, eight classrooms, kitchen/dining hall, and water tanks constructed; mentorship, feeding and teaching programs implemented.
Improvements: Five acres of land acquired, five classrooms, staff rooms office and latrines constructed, feeding program implemented.
Chania Primary Down the road from Kirimara, Chania works with children from families who struggle under incredible economic burdens.
Future Plans: An additional six classroom block is currently under construction, with funds being raised for a new library, kitchen/ dining hall and dormitories.
