Like it or not, making mistakes is an integral part of the learning and journey of life. Infact, many might say that if you haven’t erred, you haven’t really lived at all! Yet, while small mistakes are much easier to take in our stride, it is the grand errors we commonly fret and work so hard to avoid. The idea of waking up one day, and realizing just how wrong you went and just how little you realized it, is overwhelming if not scary. Yet, in so many ways, no matter how many precautions we take, this is one risk we all run- whether we are good or naughty in our own eyes or another’s. But just how do you weather the storm once we see the mistakes we have made? How do you move out and past the nagging regret of messing up our life? The answers lie not in your past, but in your present and the future you shape. How you perceive and respond to your actions past and their consequences determines not only how much damage you can undo or regret you can wash away, but also the course of your life ahead. Therefore no matter how messed up you may think you are, it is highly critical you bring your best to table instead of crumbling under the weight of the moment. Motivating and reaffirming your self is vital. Not only what you do, but also how and what you think plays a role in rebuilding you and your life. Here are 4 things to consider in moments such as these, to help you not only find a way out but also to live anew. 1. Nothing Lasts Forever In the middle of the storm of thoughts you are probably under the onslaught of, it is important to remember that nothing- nothing- lasts forever. Therefore no matter how difficult this moment may

be, and just how guilty, remorseful or disappointed you may be feeling, this too shall pass. That is not to say you may not feel these feelings or think differently tomorrow, but that they onslaught will wane in its intensity once you accept the reality of the situation. So give yourself time to process these and do not be hurry to act and respond. No matter how hard it gets, no that this too shall pass! 2. Life is Ever Renewing The greatest part of being alive is the very nature of life itself- life always renews and rebirths itself in some form or the other. Like the ancient phoenix thus, you too can rise anew out of the ashes of your past mistakes; all you need to do is believe in yourself and your ability to rebirth. No matter how big or serious your errors in choice, action or judgment may have been, sometimes the only way forward is to wipe the slate clean and start all over again. 3. What Have You Learnt? Much more than the silver lining in a situation, focusing on what you have learn from your experience lets you understand its place in your life- no matter how wrong it may all seem now. It is easy to see our mistakes in retrospect once we are more experienced and wiser, but at that point all those years back we needed to make those ‘mistakes’ to learn and experience things that would teach us the lessons of life- big and small. Therefore you might want to stop seeing your choices as simple mistakes, and see them more as opportunities for learning; the only reason you can now identify them as errors is because you have graduated from the lessons they hold and no longer need them in your life. 4. Be Humble A lot of times we get stuck in a situation not because of the circumstances per se, but because we find it extremely hard to come to grips with it; we find it extremely hard to come to grips with our own errors. Being humble keeps life fluid and in motion, for in humility we accept our own greatness and our own limitations in single breath. Embracing our nature and humanity, humility allows us to focus on the situation at hand instead of getting caught up in our ego and how the situation reflects on us. Therefore, being humble is one of the best additions to your toolkit of survival skills, great at cutting through the confusion and leading you to taking the next step forward- no matter what your journey brings.
