At E-ACT Badock’s Wood Academy we are a family. Our staff understand our community and build very effective relationships with all children and stakeholders as we offer support and security, coupled with unconditional love.
We strongly believe that a varied curriculum is the best way to engage and motivate all of our pupils. We do this by making links across the curriculum, creating ‘wow’ opportunities and using expertise from the local community. We want all of our pupils to develop a lifelong love of learning. We believe this is created through experiences, challenge, a desire to always get better and a journey to independence. We believe that the success of all our pupils comes from a shared vision from all members of the academy and the wider community and we aim to make links whenever we can to create a culture for learning and opportunities to thrive and grow. Children here love learning and leave us more than ready for the next part of their academic journey.
We want our children to know that the smallest voice can make the biggest change. We want our children to become accustomed to asking questions as change and evolution does not happen by doing what has always been done. We want our children to not be lead by national, or media induced stereotypes and to form their own perspective of the knowledge we give. The purpose of this is to inspire our children to make positive contributions to their community through carefully planned career centred activities. We know our families well and offer a supportive approach to the needs of each; regularly holding workshops and events to enable us to share successes and also provide information on how parents can support their children beyond the classroom.
At Badock’s Wood, we have high expectations for ourselves as teachers and for your child. We strive to give every child a broad, balanced and enjoyable curriculum for them to achieve their potential and experience learning, both inside and outside the classroom. We provide pupils with a global themed curriculum which enables pupils to think critically about world issues as it complements the national curriculum expectations.
Mr Jonathan Arthur HeadteacherFrom pupil’s existing range of experiences and skills we will, in partnership with you, build upon and develop these further, to ensure their success and progress throughout their educational journey and beyond.
We have a culture of pride, where we believe high expectations and core values, such as respect and kindness, are the foundations that shape us. Ensuring that pupils have a clear understanding of the difference between right and wrong, have a tolerance of others and the confidence to embrace life’s challenges is at the heart of all we do. These foundations build an academy that is calm and purposeful, with staff that believes every pupil can aspire for academic excellence.
We expect all of our pupils to be kind and supportive to each other. Opportunities are given to reflect on the impact that kindness can have on your own well-being and the well-being of others. According to experts in mental health, research shows that kindness helps improve your mood and enhances your capacity for facing daily challenges.
We encourage our pupils to keep safe at all times throughout the day. Keeping safe allows children to look forward to being in an encouraging environment that promotes social and creative learning.
As E-ACT Badock’s Wood Academy is part of the E-ACT multi-academy trust, we benefit from having five other E-ACT academies close by to us. This means we can work collaboratively with other staff and share resources to make each one of our primaries even stronger.
We always support and encourage our pupils to try their hardest and do their best in everything they do. We ensure that our pupils understand that, ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try, try and try again’. We aim to develop an understanding that we improve from our mistakes and this is a very important part of the process of learning.

We are firm believers that learning happens in an engaging environment through the medium of play. Leaders have created a calm and purposeful school environment where pupils play harmoniously together.
This underpins the application and early development of sound reading skills. You will be amazed with your child’s development and you will soon be reading together!
A highly connected subject; each piece of learning influences the next. We incorporate maths into everyday activities to master the skills.
Throughout the year, your child will learn different subjects such as science, music, art and history. All will be taught in an engaging, interactive way to deepen understanding of their world.
We truly believe the key to your child’s success is working closely with you. You will have regular updates through Tapestry to see what your child has been focussing on.
One of the most important elements parents/carers can help with is reading at home. We encourage parents and children to read at least three times a week, but we recommend five times a week to help with progression in other subjects.
