Scope, Job and Career opportunities after Chemical Engineering

Introduction: Understanding Chemical Engineering and its scope Chemical Engineering is a branch of engineering which plays a key role in numerous areas of technology. Broadly, Chemical Engineers conceive and design processes to produce, transform materials for a useful purpose. It all begins with experimentation in the laboratory followed by implementation of the technology in full-scale production. They develop and design processes and create new products. These engineers either focus on improving an existing processes or create new ones. They are also concerned with managing the available resources, protecting the environment, health and safety. Chemical engineers are also called ‘Universal Engineers’ because it is a broad engineering discipline. Chemical engineering is primarily involved in changing raw materials into useful products such as clothes, food & drink, and energy. Another domain of work may be in the area of development of batteries for electrical vehicles, new composition of clothing, development of food and preservatives and so on as chemical engineers mainly focus on processes and products. For acquiring a degree in Chemical Engineering, the student with Physics, Chemistry and Maths in their 10+2 can enrol themselves for Bachelor of Engineering. Another pathway can be for students who have successfully completed their three year Diploma or Polytechnique in Chemical Engineering can take the admission directly in second year of Degree
