What Is a Telescopic Cylinder and How Does It Work?

A telescopic cylinder is a kind of a hydraulic cylinder which has different pipes or sleeves fitted into one another. After cylinder no.2 is completely lifted, fluid enters the inlet of this cylinder. Once the oil enters cylinder no.2 and flows through it, it pushes the piston in an upward direction. It then raises the piston for stroke length of cylinder no.2.

Double acting cylinder A double acting cylinder has two different ports. The oil enters from one port and pushes the piston down. When the piston is directed by the control to retract, the oil is pushed into the second port, which in turn pushes the piston up. In other words, the cylinders retract and extend in both directions.
