TREP$
TREP$, short for enTREPreneur$, is a project-based learning program that teaches kids in grades 4-8 how to start their own business. They learn the lessons in classroom, afterschool, or remote workshops, and apply them at home as they build their business with the support of their families. The whole school community comes out to enjoy the TREP$ Marketplace, held right at the school or online, where the young entrepreneurs launch their businesses together. TREP$ can be offered as part of the curriculum or as an extra-curricular enrichment program, It can be taught by teachers or by volunteers in the school community.

The goal of this project was to cultivate growth mindset and a multitude of interdisciplinary skills through an authentic learning experience. Over the past three months, the sixth-grade students have brainstormed ideas, empathized with potential customers in focus groups, learned about business finance, made their products, designed ads, and more. They exemplified the qualities of collaboration, creativity, engagement, curiosity, initiative, risk-taking, critical thinking, and perseverance. They were working not for a grade but rather to make the world better by raising funds for causes for which they are passionate about. Students had a great deal of autonomy and had to navigate their own challenges. I am incredibly proud of all the students.
Thank you so much for supporting them.
Colleen Larionoff, Innovation Coordinator
