Before we welcome spring and enter the peak of wedding season, I’d love to reflect on what a whirlwind this winter has been for Weddings & Honeymoons Media! This 2024 has already been incredibly eventful for our team as we celebrated our inaugural edition of the United Kingdom Weddings & Honeymoons Awards on the 29th of February… What an incredible night of celebrations, surrounded by esteemed guests who travelled from across the world to be there with us on such an important night. Our Awards showcased the talent that brims throughout the wedding industry in the United Kingdom and abroad. The event culminated with our wedding prize which went to a couple who stunned us with their story and could not have been more deserving! Everything was beautifully presented by the charming Louise Roe, who we can’t thank enough for enchanting everyone as she took centre stage and announced the winners of our awards and the £50,000 wedding competition. Our gala event turned out to be more than we could have ever hoped, and we couldn’t have done it without our sponsors, the impeccable work of Charlotte Ricard-Quesada from La Fête and the mesmerising floral pieces of Paula Rooney. And, of course, a huge thank you to everyone who came on the night to support and celebrate with us! We incorporated a lot of personal details into our wedding, and our friends and family came together to make it happen. My best friend hand embroidered all of the wildflowers into my veil (and even officiated our wedding!); a close family friend designed and created our stunning cake with dried flowers (it was delicious!); and I, along with my girls, assembled the flowers ourselves, with some help from Flower Moxie. Even our dog Juno was an integral part of our wedding! During the ceremony, instead of the stuffy "speak now or forever hold your peace" line uttered at weddings back in the day, our officiant asked everyone to say "We do!" in agreeance that we were the perfect match. And Juno let out a bark confirming she strongly agreed!

I couldn't help but notice how the venue had conveniently decided to have all their wildflowers bloom just in time for our big day. It was as if Mother Nature herself was trying to upstage me, showcasing her floral prowess as a testament to our blooming love. How thoughtful! I mean, who needs meticulously planned floral arrangements when you can have a chaotic explosion of colours and scents? It was like a wildflower jungle had taken over as if the venue had whispered, "Here, have some untamed beauty to match your untamed love." Oh, how charming!

The majestic mountain tops of the Alps provided the perfect setting for our frosty fairytale to unfold. The proposal itself was a beautiful moment, at the base of Mont Blanc. It was a true testament to our deep connection with the mountains. We chose to have our wedding in December, during the Christmas period, to fully embrace the enchanting atmosphere of the season. The snowy landscape added an extra touch of magic to our special day. It was love at first sight the moment I lay eyes on Hotel L’Alpaga. I was instantly captivated by the charm and atmosphere of the place and knew that this was the place where I wanted to exchange my vows. The combination of the picturesque location, the festive time of year, and the cosy ambience of the hotel created a truly unforgettable experience for us and our guests. We opted for an intimate wedding, with 70 guests in attendance, because with Covid always present we preferred to do it small. The ceremony was a magical moment under a blanket of snow as it snowed all day on the morning of the wedding and stopped just as the ceremony began. I was on the hunt for the perfect wedding dress. Finding a winter wedding dress wasn’t easy, but after stumbling across one on the website of our wedding photographer I was determined to get my hands on one of Max Chaoul’s designs. It was exactly what I was looking for. The atmosphere that reigned there moved us enormously. We who dreamed of getting

married in the snow were not disappointed. It was magical! Add to that the speeches of the relatives, we were right to bring the handkerchiefs! Our first dance at the wedding was a truly special moment. As the soft melody of Skylar Grey's "Stand by Me" filled the air, Boris and I swayed together, lost in the magic of the song. It was a slow dance, but it felt like time flew by, as I had a surprise dance prepared for Boris with my bridesmaids to kick off the evening. There was no specific theme, but we aimed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, with little details that reminded us of Christmas. The colour palette we chose for the wedding was elegant and festive. White, gold, silver, and fir green adorned the venue, adding a touch of enchantment to the surroundings. It was a visual representation of the magical winter wonderland we had envisioned for our special day.

Our wedding journey began with an unforgettable proposal at the Azulik hotel in Tulum. The moment my partner got down on one knee in the tree-top restaurant nestled in the lush jungle, I knew our love story was about to take a magical turn. We chose to tie the knot in June, as the weather was perfectly splendid – not too hot and not too cold. The venue we selected was a dream come true, situated in an ideal location with breathtaking views of the sea. From the moment we arrived, the sparkling blue waters of the ocean were visible at every point of our special day – from the intimate ceremony to the delightful welcome drinks, the sumptuous dinner, and the lively dance floor. We entrusted Twelve Events, based in Athens, to bring our vision to life, and they exceeded our expectations in every way. Their attention to detail and impeccable planning ensured that our special day was nothing short of perfection. As I stood at the altar, surrounded by 180 cherished guests, I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed with emotion. It was a surreal moment, knowing that this day, which we had eagerly anticipated, had finally arrived. The love and joy that filled the air were palpable, and I couldn’t have asked for a more enchanting start to our journey as a married couple. For my dress, I went with a non-traditional blush pink colour that had pops of green running through it. The uniqueness of the dress, made by the Spanish brand Pronovias, is what made me instantly fall in love with it, as well as its amazing flower-beaded details. Everyone looked mesmerised as I made my way down the aisle as they’d never seen a dress like it before. It blew everyone away. As the evening unfolded into the night and we began to cut our cake, Coldplay’s anthem, ‘Sky full of Stars’ filled the air at the very moment fireworks went off in the middle of the sea lighting up the starry night canvas. It still gives me goosebumps thinking of this moment, it was truly magical. All our guests watched out at the fireworks together and everyone was hugging. The love around everyone was a moment I will never forget. 00

Magdalena & Luke tied the knot enveloped by the vibrant spirit and breathtaking beauty of the Sicilian shoreline… We set our hearts on a date in September 2023 to bring all of our favourite people together under the warm Sicilian sun for a celebration that left our attendees completely speechless. Our ceremony overlooked the glistening sea waters and was wrapped by soaring rock formations to create the perfect natural backdrop, picture-perfect for our photos and to frame our touching ceremony. We knew that Tonnara di Scopello would leave everyone enchanted and what better excuse to book a holiday than with a wedding in such a stunning location? Tonnara di Scopello speaks for itself. As soon as you arrive, you are embraced by the warm Mediterranean breeze and an ancient Sicilian location steeped in history and tradition, embraced by the sea. We wanted to keep the authentic spirit and infuse the venue by bringing the surroundings in. With our wedding planner, we created the perfect setting to welcome the spirit of the region and make sure our ambience was in harmony with the backdrop. Fresh fruit, warm colours, rustic elements and antique furnishings were brought in to elevate the beauty of the venue and it did create a hospitable atmosphere to welcome our guests. Getting ready at the venue was extremely special. Seeing our guests arrive in their colourful outfits made the day for us, especially when we had the opportunity to continue the celebrations in the cave. We all changed into costumes and danced the night away. We picked as many Italian elements as possible and had tiramisu as our dessert. Having local suppliers there helped us craft an outstanding day.

held an intimate ceremony on the beautiful island of Naxos, in Greece… Our wedding, which took place on the picturesque island of Naxos, was a truly enchanting affair. Set against the backdrop of the island’s breathtaking landscapes, it was the perfect setting to embark on our happily ever after. The island itself holds a special place in my heart, having vacationed there with Nicolas over the years, as my family have a house out there. The wedding took place in August so that guests could come during the summer and we could spend our time discovering other islands. We chose Ayiopetra as our wedding venue because it was private and quite mystical, lost in the Naxian mountains and close to the temple of Demeter. We fell in love with the place when we visited it a year before the wedding and immediately knew we wanted to get married there. We felt extremely emotional and surrounded by so much love and joy. All 160 of our guests made us feel very special during the whole day. Selecting my wedding attire was a very exciting process. For my dress, I fell in love with the stunning design by the talented French designer, Laure de Sagazan. Its elegance and timeless beauty captured my heart instantly. To add a unique touch, I also chose a beautiful top from another talented designer, Caroline Takvorian. I decided to wear the top during the religious ceremony and cocktail hour, as it added a touch of sophistication to my overall look. However, for the dinner and party, I wanted a different vibe, so I took off the top and enjoyed the rest of the evening in my gorgeous dress. Nico, on the other hand, opted for a tailor-made beige linen suit. It was the perfect choice for the hot weather, ensuring his comfort throughout the day. The suit complemented my dress beautifully and blended seamlessly with the neutral colours of our wedding decorations. Nico looked incredibly dashing and stylish, and I couldn't have been happier with his choice.

As the celebrations unfolded into the night, merriment and laughter filled the air. Our guests surprised us with a very emotional dance, they all learned the song ‘Jerusalema’ and performed it for us. Following French tradition as a bride, I had the honour of sharing my first dance with my father. Together we were swept up in the rhythm of the energetic rock & roll anthem ‘ You Can Never Tell’ from the iconic movie ‘Pulp Fiction’. It was a moment of pure happiness as we span to the beat. My beloved Nico then joined me on the dancefloor alongside my mother in a moment of bliss. This dream wouldn’t have been possible without our dear Joanna, she planned our wedding for a year and made sure to meet our expectations and tastes. She is like family to us.

Elodie and Ludovic Embarked on their happily ever after against the backdrop of the Spanish sea. It all began on the pristine beaches of Mauritius, where Ludovic proposed, whilst the sun set on the horizon as the sound of the waves serenaded our love. It was a magical beginning to a love story that would lead us to our dream wedding in the enchanting city of Barcelona. The venue, chosen with meticulous care, was a picturesque haven nestled along the coastline of Barcelona, offering panoramic views of the glistening sea. Everything was perfect in this location. The incredible sea view, and the magical reception setting, this place was exactly what we were looking for! It matched in every aspect what we wanted and what I had dreamed of having for my wedding. As the sun set over the horizon, we exchanged vows in a small intimate ceremony, made up of 80 of our closest family and friends. The magical setting provided the perfect canvas for our vision of an elegant French-inspired affair. I had dreamed and imagined my dress for a long time. I tried on many dresses, and for this one, it was a real love at first sight. As the evening unfolded, the celebration continued with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and an undeniable sense of joy that permeated every moment. It was a very emotional wedding. We cried a lot, thanks to our fantastic witnesses and parents who gave intense and beautiful speeches, and to our friends who made us laugh so much. The stars emerged in the night sky, casting a magical glow over the sea, our journey, which began on the shores of Mauritius, had come full circle, marking the beginning of a new chapter.

Presented by the charming Louise Roe, the Awards Ceremony was a wonderful celebration of the wedding and honeymoon sector. With the chance to win many awards, such as Best Wedding Venue and Wedding Influencer of the Year, we are honoured to have had the chance to praise the industry’s best suppliers and their incredible achievements at our gala night. The Magical Mediterranean Wedding & Honeymoon setting that feels like home

ith its stunning natural beauty, unique charm and historical cultural blend, Gibraltar’s appeal as a romantic setting is not new. During the 1950s and 1960s, Gibraltar’s reputation as the fashionable spot on the Med for wedded couples grew a strong and loyal following. These were the years of rock and roll, when London was swinging to the sounds of the Beatles and the Rock of Gibraltar was and not for the first time in its history, the cool jewel of the Mediterranean, a playground for the rich and famous. With its extensive military history from Admiral Lord Nelson to Eisenhower, Gibraltar has always been a beacon for royalty, politicians and society’s finest. Winston Churchill’s long association with Gibraltar was cemented when his actress daughter Sarah, married Lord Audley in the famous Blue Room of the Rock Hotel. Soon to follow were Hollywood stars from a golden age. Stars including Laurence Harvey and Sean Connery at the height of their fame clamoured to the Rock to take their nuptials. Mr Connery, the original James Bond, who shaken not stirred even married twice on the Rock. It is perhaps the marriage of Beatles legend John Lennon to Yoko Ono in 1969 that caused the biggest stir. Lennon’s choice of wife had created outrage in the UK, but the young lovers fled the media to take refuge in Gibraltar where they happily posed for local press and fans following their short wedding ceremony. Today, Gibraltar opens its doors to thousands of couples each year who travel to Gibraltar to say, ‘I do’. Local laws require simple procedures and only a one-night stay at the destination. Legislation also permits the Marriage Registrar to marry couples in civil weddings and partnerships outside of the Registry Office.

The list of venues is continuously expanding and includes hotels such as the fashionable Sunborn Gibraltar Hotel 5* Yacht Hotel, which offers specific wedding packages. There are a also number of restaurants that are also licensed. It’s Gibraltar’s spectacular historical settings which offer a truly magical experience. The building was built in 1819 by a prosperous merchant and is richly decorated in Empire style opulence. In 2024 a new historic property will open as a stunning new venue. The Mount, said to be built in 1797 and designed in Georgian architecture, was the former residence of the senior officer of the Royal Navy stationed in Gibraltar. It is set high up in the Rock with beautiful gardens offering stunning views across the Mediterranean. With its abundance of wildlife, water sports, international cuisine, and UNESCO world-class heritage, it’s hard to imagine a more complete setting to exchange your vows.
