A world-class base area for a world-class mountain resort
Over the next few years, the acres of surface parking lots fronting Snow Park Lodge will be transformed into world-class base facilities, completing the resort’s master plan as envisioned four decades ago. We’re pleased to share with you this preview of Snow Park Village, a welcoming new front door for a legendary resort. Centered on a pedestrian-friendly plaza, Snow Park Village will offer services and amenities for all of Deer Valley’s guests, from destination visitors to local skiers and the entire Park City community. Modern restaurants, bars, shops, and services will line the plaza, which will sit atop underground parking structures equipped with technology to help smooth arrivals and departures.
The Silver Lake Express chairlift will be replaced with a gondola that reaches further into the plaza for quicker access to the mountain and the Silver Lake base area. Guests will be able to extend their après-ski experience at a ski beach four times larger than today’s offering. A new mobility hub linked to the plaza will improve transit access. A potential event center for conferences and community functions may be included, as well as a major community amenity like an ice skating rink. Importantly, we’ve taken care to ensure the layout of the village and placement of its buildings complement the surrounding neighborhoods and respect view corridors. Trails throughout the village will connect with existing community trails. These, and the many other opportunities created by the new base area are exciting for both the resort and the broader community. The Deer Valley story began more than 40 years ago when Edgar and Polly Stern’s dream of a destination resort like no other began falling into place. Combining luxury accommodations, outstanding guest service, and gourmet food with a world-class skiing experience, Deer Valley Resort pioneered a new level of mountain resort innovation. Offering a ski-only resort experience and limiting the number of skiers on the mountain raised eyebrows, too, and proved to be a visionary and successful decision. Beyond its luxurious resort experience, Deer Valley boasts serious skiing credentials. In 2002, Deer Valley hosted the freestyle mogul, aerial and alpine slalom events during the Salt Lake City Olympic Winter Games. In years since, the resort has played host to 19 FIS World Cup and three FIS Freestyle World Championship events.

Care has been taken to craft a layout that serves the needs of skiers, guests, and visitors. Locations and shapes of buildings will be designed to honor views from neighboring buildings and create linkages that integrate the village with the surrounding community. A multimodal transit center, parks, trails, lake access, and a major amenity such as an ice rink are designed for both resort and community use. After four decades of success, Deer Valley Resort is ready to fulfill the last major piece of its visionary master plan, approved in 1977. A new Snow Park base area will be the resort’s capstone, creating a welcoming new arrival experience and offering plentiful options for lingering longer to watch the sun set after an epic powder day.
Snow Park Village will create a new first and lasting impression for Deer Valley guests and the broader community. A modern pedestrian-only plaza with restaurants, bars, and shops will replace acres of asphalt, offering a friendly, exciting, convenient visitor experience and a seamless transition between the base and the mountain.

Sitting atop underground and screened parking garages, the village’s central plaza creates an engaging and convenient environment separated from vehicles on the level below. With buildings and garages stepping down the sloping grade, the village connects with the surrounding neighborhood and frames stunning alpine views.

Honoring the resort’s master plan agreement with Park City means Deer Valley is not asking for any planning exceptions to build new Snow Park base facilities.
