The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, long regarded as the pinnacle of automotive culture and the crown jewel of Monterey Automotive Week, is where artistry, history, and engineering converge. Since its founding in 1950, it has stood as the most prestigious showcase of classic motoring, a place where the world’s most exceptional collector cars are judged not only on rarity and condition but also on their spirit of design.

Among this unparalleled gathering of automotive icons, His Royal Highness’s entry captivated the connoisseurs: a Class F 1933 Invicta 4½ Litre S Type Corsica Drophead Coupé. Famed among pre-war grand tourers, the Invicta S-Type’s “underslung” chassis bestowed it with a strikingly low silhouette and exceptional handling, while its Corsica coachwork remains a testament to the golden age of bespoke craftsmanship. With its flowing lines and elegant proportions, it is a car that unites power with poetry.

MILESTONE VICTORY

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Captain of the Royal Endurance Team, won the Rushford Endurance 120 km race held in the United Kingdom.

The race was attended by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee; and His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Deputy Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, and member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.

Competing on his horse Schelmigra Truckstarr, HH Shaikh Nasser successfully completed the four demanding stages of the 120 km event,

demonstrating not only physical stamina but strategic racing acumen. The Rushford International Endurance Race required rigorous veterinary checks, careful preparation and precise riding, a challenge that HH Shaikh Nasser and his team met head‑on

HH beat Abdullah Al Bastaki from the United Arab Emirates, who came in second, while Singh from the MRM team came in third. The Royal Endurance Team secured second and third places in the 100 km race, with Zuhair Mohammed coming second and Asim Janahi third. Hamad Al Kaabi from the United Arab Emirates won first place in the 160

km race, with teammate Saif Al Mazrouei coming second, and Royal Team rider Mohammed Abdul Samad taking third place.

The Rushford International Endurance Race is a prestigious, multi stage equestrian event held in the United Kingdom, attracting elite endurance riders from across the globe. The race features challenging categories, including the 100km, 120km, and 160km distances designed to test the stamina, strategy, and partnership between horse and rider.

THE CLUB HAS JUST ANNOUNCED THE 2025–2026 RACING CALENDAR. WHEN WILL THE NEW SEASON BEGIN, AND WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?

The new season will officially begin on Friday 31 October 2025 and will consist of 29 race meetings. The calendar reflects the continued growth and ambition of the Club under the direction of the High Committee, chaired by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court. Our objective remains to position Bahrain as one of the world’s most respected horseracing destinations. This season’s structure builds on that, combining international competitiveness, major race days, and a growing platform for the community to engage with the sport.

INTERNATIONAL RACING CONTINUES TO PLAY A MAJOR ROLE IN THAT GROWTH. WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT FOR BAHRAIN?

Racing is global by nature, and if we want to grow in both reputation and competitiveness, we must be part of that global structure. The Bahrain International Trophy is central to this. Now a Group 2 race, it will return for its seventh edition on Friday 14 November 2025 and continues to attract topclass runners from around the world. It is broadcast to over 100 countries and serves as our flagship international event. Last season, Spirit Dancer, owned by Sir Alex Ferguson, became the first horse to win the Bahrain International Trophy twice.

Having Sir Alex in attendance was a great privilege and underlined the profile the race now commands. Moments like that are a marker of how far we’ve come. The Bahrain Turf Series complements this, providing a competitive winter campaign of twelve international races between December and March. Together, they make Bahrain a serious option for global racing professionals, while also enhancing the standard of competition at home. We have also seen Bahrain become part of the journey for horses that go on to succeed on the world stage. In previous seasons, Isle of Jura ran here during the winter and went on to win at Royal Ascot. That story captured the imagination and reinforces Bahrain’s value as a stage for emerging international stars.

LAST SEASON SAW HIS MAJESTY THE KING ATTEND THE KING’S CUP FESTIVAL. WHAT DOES THAT EVENT REPRESENT TODAY?

His Majesty the King’s Cup is our most prestigious race, and one of growing international recognition. It was promoted to Group 3 status last season will for the first time carry 400,000 US dollars in prize money. The two-day Festival will take place on 5 and 6 March 2026 and remains a highlight of the national sporting calendar. His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s attendance last season was an honor for everyone at the Club. It reflected the historical importance of the event and its growing significance within the wider landscape of Bahraini sport.

HAVE REFERENCED DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS AT THE CLUB. WHAT IS THEIR PURPOSE?

These projects are focused on the infrastructure needed to support our future. We are building a new main entrance and a dedicated public access road to improve traffic flow and access for racegoers. These upgrades are not simply cosmetic. They are designed to help us accommodate more visitors, run larger events more efficiently, and ensure the Club can evolve into a world-class racing venue. As the sport grows, so must the venue that hosts it. We are preparing for the scale and standard of racing we are working towards.

YOU’VE DESCRIBED RACING AS MORE THAN JUST A SPORT. WHAT ROLE DOES IT PLAY BEYOND THE TRACK?

Racing in Bahrain is becoming an occasion that brings people together. Our major race days now carry a strong social and cultural dimension. Events such as our RoyalTea Ladies Day, National Day celebrations, and our themed nights during Ramadan have helped to create a unique atmosphere and broaden the appeal of the Club. This is only possible through the support of our partners and sponsors, both local and international. Their commitment has enabled us to grow the scale and quality of our events and deliver a racing product that meets international standards while remaining rooted in Bahrain’s identity.

HOW DOES THE BAHRAIN JOCKEY ACADEMY FIT INTO THE CLUB’S VISION FOR THE FUTURE?

The Bahrain Jockey Academy is one of our most important long-term initiatives. It provides structured training and development for aspiring Bahraini riders and represents a major step forward in how we prepare and support our future jockeys. The Academy focuses on technical ability, physical readiness, and international exposure. It is a key part of our broader plan to build a more competitive and professional racing ecosystem. As we grow internationally, we also want to ensure Bahrainis are equipped to compete and succeed at every level.

FINALLY, HOW WOULD YOU SUMMARIZE YOUR PRIORITIES FOR THE SEASON AHEAD?

We are focused on three core priorities. First, to continue raising the standard and profile of our racing program, especially at the international level. Second, to develop the Club as a destination and a place where racing is experienced as an occasion and as part of Bahrain’s social and sporting culture. And third, to invest in the infrastructure and people that will sustain that growth into the future. There is real momentum behind Bahrain’s racing at the moment. Construction is moving ahead smoothly, with more than 70% of Phase One completed as of third quarter of 2025. This includes significant progress on the residential tower and the underground parking facilities for 963 vehicles. The project is on track for its grand opening in the fourth quarter of 2026, an event anticipated to redefine the skyline and lifestyle of Manama.

Being part of Raffles İstanbul from its very first day has been an extraordinary journey. I’ve witnessed first-hand how the hotel has grown from a new opening into an established icon of luxury in the city. This continuity gave me a deep understanding of our strengths, our challenges, and, most importantly, the DNA of our brand. As General Manager, this perspective allows me to make decisions not only with today in mind but also with a long-term view of where we want to position Raffles İstanbul for the next decade. At the same time, I’ve seen how the definition of luxury itself has evolved over the years-today’s travelers are not only looking for comfort and elegance, but also for authenticity, personalization, and meaningful connections. Keeping pace with these shifting expectations, while staying true to our timeless Raffles philosophy, is what enables us to remain consistently at the forefront of global hospitality.

AS THE FIRST TURKISH NATIONAL GENERAL MANAGER, WHAT DOES THIS ACHIEVEMENT MEAN TO YOU, AND HOW WILL IT IMPACT THE HOTEL’S CONNECTION WITH LOCAL CULTURE AND TALENT?

It is both an honor and a responsibility. Representing Raffles İstanbul as the first Turkish General Manager means I can act as a cultural bridge-celebrating our global standards while

deepening our connection to İstanbul’s heritage and people. For me, it’s about inspiring young Turkish hoteliers to believe that they can thrive in international luxury hospitality. I see it as my mission to invest in local talent, nurture them, and ensure that our team reflects the warmth and generosity that Turkish culture is renowned for. At the same time, having worked alongside leaders from many different countries over the past decade has given me a broad perspective on diverse leadership styles and best practices. Combining those insights with my understanding of the strengths of our local workforce creates a powerful synergy-one that elevates both our team culture and the guest experience.

GIVEN YOUR REPUTATION FOR STRATEGIC AND COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP, HOW DO THESE QUALITIES FOSTER TEAM COHESION AND INNOVATION IN LUXURY HOSPITALITY?

Luxury hospitality thrives on teamwork and consistency. My leadership philosophy is based on clarity of vision, shared ownership, and open communication. By involving my team in decisionmaking and giving them space to innovate, we build trust and cohesion. At the same time, strategy is about setting ambitious yet achievable goals and aligning everyone behind them. When people feel part of the bigger picture, they naturally bring forward creative solutions that elevate the guest experience. For instance, we created dedicated innovation and sustainability teams within the hotelcross-departmental groups empowered to reimagine processes, introduce creative guest experiences, and drive greener operations. These initiatives not only

produced tangible results, such as waste reduction and new service concepts, but also reinforced a culture where every colleague feels they have a voice and a stake in our success. My role is to provide the vision and the framework, but their passion and creativity are what make the difference in our achievements.

OVER YOUR DECADE AT RAFFLES İSTANBUL, WHAT WERE SOME KEY STRATEGIC MARKETING OR BRAND DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES YOU SPEARHEADED?

For us, this means investing in smarter distribution channels, using data more effectively, and ensuring personalization at every stage of the guest lifecycle. At the same time, İstanbul itself is going through a renaissance as a travel destination, which offers us tremendous opportunities to capture new markets and create unique experiences. Technology is a vital tool to make services faster, more seamless, and more accessible in real time. Yet, luxury hospitality can never remove the human element from the equation-guests still expect warmth, empathy, and genuine connection, and no digital solution can replace that. My goal is to secure Raffles İstanbul’s place among the world’s top 20 hotels consistently, not just occasionally. To achieve this, we are focusing on three areas: elevating service standards even further, enhancing our F&B offerings to reflect both innovation and authenticity, and continuing

to strengthen our connection with the local community. Of course, being recognized among the top 20 is highly motivating, but my foremost priority is that whenever people hear the name Raffles İstanbul, they immediately associate it with delivering the best service without question. Awards and rankings are the external reflection of this, but the most tangible proof is our returning guests-and here we are proud to excel. The key is to never stay static; each time a guest comes back, they should find new touches and fresh experiences that elevate their journey even further. Being built over Yas Marina Circuit, in the heart of Yas Island, means the energy outside the hotel is already high, especially during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, when the excitement and international spotlight amplify the atmosphere even more. But keeping that energy consistent inside the hotel across every touchpoint is where the real work happens. Our dining venues play a big role in that. Pappas Taverna is relaxed and social, while Garage is fast-paced and flavorful with five live kitchens, and Brooklyn Chop House brings a distinct fusion of steakhouse classics and Asian influences. Each one is designed to offer something different, so guests can have multiple experiences without the need of leaving the hotel. My approach to team building and talent development remains consistent across properties; what varies is how it’s applied, considering the culture and people. Our goal is to establish W Abu Dhabi as the capital’s premier luxury lifestyle destination, one that’s deeply connected to the excitement of Yas Island, whether it’s the F1, major music events, or other world-class experiences. Mongolian artist, gallerist, and philanthropist Buyankhishig Unurbayar comes from a family deeply rooted in art and culture. From a young age, she was drawn to painting, and her early creative interests were always encouraged at home. Today, Art of UB spans more than 600 sqm and operates not only as an art gallery but also as a welcoming coffee lounge. It has become a platform for connectionbetween artists and collectors, between Mongolia and the international art world. Through the gallery, she continues to support and promote Mongolian contemporary art while creating a space where culture, creativity, and community meet.

CAN YOU SHARE HOW YOUR JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF ART BEGAN AND WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO PURSUE CONTEMPORARY ARTISTIC EXPRESSION IN MONGOLIA?

As a child, I always preferred drawing over toys. My father encouraged me to focus on art from kindergarten through high school. But at seventeen, a sudden change in our financial circumstances made painting tools and colors feel like luxuries. From then on, I had to turn my attention toward building a stable career. Years later, during my first pregnancy leave, my mother gently asked me what I wanted to do with that time. Picking up the brush again felt both terrifying and exhilarating. It took great courage to return to art after so many years away, as if I were stepping into a forgotten part of myself. In that short period, I created twenty four paintings, pouring all of my emotions and long-suppressed passion into them. When I finally held an exhibition, twenty one were sold on the very first day. That moment was more than success - it was a rebirth. It gave me the confidence and the courage to begin my professional art career in earnest.

IF YOU WERE TO DESCRIBE YOUR SIGNATURE ARTISTIC STYLE AND PHILOSOPHY TO SOMEONE UNFAMILIAR WITH YOUR WORK, HOW WOULD YOU PORTRAY IT?

I would describe my style as free thinking. I never feel that I should or must create in a certain way. Each work comes directly from my heart and emotions. My teachers always told me not to box myself in but to keep creating as I naturally do.I often turn to the simple yet profound elements of nature, especially clouds and mist. Mongolia is known as the land of the eternal blue sky, and we call ourselves sky destined people. As a daughter of this country, I feel deeply connected to the sky, the clouds, and the mist. For me, humanity is one under the same sky. Clouds and mist also represent who I am. Clouds are always moving, unpredictable, sometimes heavy and thunderous, sometimes almost invisible, just like my emotions. Mist can cover entire landscapes in silence. It is steady yet hard to fully see and understand. At the same time, it carries a sense of secrecy,

hiding what lies beneath while inviting curiosity. Together, clouds and mist reflect both my contrast and my balance, which is at the core of my philosophy. I believe my art can reach anyone. It does not require expertise to understand. All that is needed is to feel, and every person carries emotions within them. Through my work, I hope to share the same calmness and peace that I feel when I create.

WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME DEFINING CHALLENGES YOU FACED AS A CONTEMPORARY ARTIST, AND HOW HAVE THEY INFLUENCED YOUR GROWTH?

The biggest challenge I faced was being accepted as a professional artist in Mongolia. Because I did not graduate from an art university, many people saw me only as a pretty face, a model, or a businesswoman. Through years of hard work on my own practice and on the growth of the Mongolian art industry, I eventually earned recognition from the very community that once dismissed me.

YOUR WORK HAS BEEN EXHIBITED INTERNATIONALLY, INCLUDING IN PRESTIGIOUS AUCTIONS AND ART FAIRS. HOW DO YOU APPROACH REPRESENTING MONGOLIAN CONTEMPORARY ART ON THE GLOBAL STAGE?

I see representing Mongolia on the global stage as both an honor and a responsibility. My approach has always been guided by passion, optimism, and the belief that Mongolian artists deserve to be seen internationally. When I first stepped into world class auctions, it happened much earlier than I expected, almost ten or fifteen years ahead of my dream. I embraced it with confidence because my goal was never only about myself. It was about showing the depth and uniqueness of Mongolian contemporary art. At the same time, being an artist from a third world country presents many struggles. Nothing comes easily, and every step requires twice the effort. But perhaps that is also what makes each achievement feel so powerful and meaningful. I approach every exhibition with the mindset of being an ambassador. I want audiences to feel the spirit of Mongolia through my work and to see that our country has a voice in the global art conversation. I believe everyone is born with a talent, and mine is both entrepreneurial and artistic. For me, entrepreneurship is not only about profit but about creating win win situations for everyone involved. I believe we should embrace the inevitable. Art has always been about feeling and expression, and digital media simply provides more opportunities to share those emotions in new ways. Installations today are becoming increasingly creative and

innovative through the use of projectors, light, and video, which expand the possibilities of how an audience can experience art. For example, I created a three hundred sixty degree LED display installation that attracted many art enthusiasts and new audiences. Experiences like this show how technology can deepen engagement with contemporary art.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER TO EMERGING MONGOLIAN ARTISTS WHO ASPIRE TO SUCCEED BOTH CREATIVELY AND INTERNATIONALLY?

My advice is not only for Mongolian artists but for the next generation of artists everywhere. Dream with courage and optimism, and let go of doubt. Every success begins with a dream, but to turn that dream into reality you need grit, hard work, and sacrifice. Instead of asking why something will not work, focus on how to make it work. Even when you are exhausted, be willing to make sacrifices, believe in yourself, and keep going. Never stop improving your craft and yourself. Do not think you are finished or satisfied. Being an artist does not only mean creating artworks. Learn another language, do research, stay in tune with the times, and always bring something different while staying authentic to who you are.

In aviation, the real opportunities lie in emerging markets. Mature regions like Europe are stable, established, and well-served, while growth potential is much greater in Asia, Africa, and the Balkans. After COVID-19, there was a major shift in the customer base: before, the primary travelers were governments and oil companies. Today, demand also comes from sectors like fashion and technology. Much of this new demand originates from emerging markets, and that is where JETEX sees the biggest opportunities for growth.

YOU’VE OFTEN SPOKEN ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY FROM A HUMBLE BACKGROUND TO FOUNDING JETEX. WHAT IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT LEADERSHIP LESSON YOU LEARNED DURING THAT TIME, AND HOW DO YOU INSTILL THAT ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT IN YOUR TEAM TODAY?

Two lessons stand out: passion and speed. I began my career driving passengers and crew from the terminal to the aircraft, so I know every aspect of this business from the ground up. Passion has always been my driver. The second lesson is to be fast in making decisions. I don’t believe in rigid plans; opportunities often arise unexpectedly, and 02

you must be ready to seize them. Having clear targets is important, but flexibility is what allows us to grow.

At JETEX, we always aim to create something new. For example, when you enter our terminals, you feel like you’re stepping into a luxury hotel lobby, not an airport. That’s the kind of experience we want to deliver. Our partnerships also reflect this philosophy. We recently partnered with Archer to bring eVTOL to market, and we signed an agreement with Les Roches Hospitality Business School in Switzerland to train the next generation of aviation professionals. For us, CSR is not just about giving back, it’s about investing in people and communities. We began in Abu Dhabi and will expand this program to Spain and Switzerland. When we recruit, passion is what we look for first. Skills can be trained, but passion cannot be taught.

JETEX was the first to introduce SAF during COP28 and at the Dubai Airshow two years ago. We’ll continue to provide SAF for our clients, including at the upcoming Dubai Airshow. The challenge is not demand. Clients, especially governments and corporates, are eager to use SAF. it’s actually availability and cost, which is currently five to ten times higher than traditional fuel. Our vision is to convert all our ground equipment worldwide to green, electric alternatives, and we’re working with partners to make SAF more accessible globally.

This is our biggest challenge. AI will transform many industries and eliminate thousands of jobs, but I don’t believe it can replace human interaction in hospitality. Technology can streamline administrative processes and enhance efficiency, but when it comes to the guest experience, the smile, conversation, and personal care cannot be replicated by a machine. At JETEX, we use AI for backend services, but the human touch will always remain central to what we do.

Consistency is key to our brand. We conduct regular site visits and audits, but we also rely heavily on customer feedback, as many of our clients use multiple JETEX locations worldwide. We’ve built a strong framework of standard operating procedures, and our teams are trained to uphold these standards. Demand has grown exponentially. In Dubai, for example, we handled around 4,000 flights in 2019. Today, that number has tripled to more than 12,000. Our biggest challenge is capacity – securing slots at airports and keeping up with demand. For our clientele, time is the most valuable asset. Every flight hour costs tens of thousands of dollars, so efficiency is critical. Across the GCC, massive investments are being made in new airports and infrastructure, particularly in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain. This region is now at the forefront of aviation growth, supported by visionary leadership, stability, and long-term investment. Europe, by contrast, has not seen new airport infrastructure for decades. That is why we see the GCC as the epicenter of future aviation growth, and JETEX is positioning itself to play a leading role in this transformation.

Born in Piacenza, Italy, Giorgio Armani emerged from modest beginnings. He was a visionary who transformed fashion into a language of timeless refinement. His legacy of elegance, discipline, and innovation continues to inspire the world of luxury.

He initially pursued medicine, before setting his sights on fashion, where his true calling awaited. His early career saw him working as a window dresser and sales clerk at Milan’s La Rinascente before honing his craft under Nino Cerruti in the 1960s. In 1975, alongside business partner Sergio Galeotti, Armani founded his eponymous label ‘Giorgio Armani S.p.A.’, marking the launch of his ready-to-wear collections for both men and women. By the 1980s, Armani had already established himself as a titan of Italian fashion, celebrated for introducing a softer, more elegant silhouette in men’s tailoring that transformed traditional power dressing and redefined global style norms.

Armani’s breakthrough moment came in 1980 when Richard Gere donned one of his suits in American Gigolo, setting in motion a profound bond with Hollywood that would elevate his brand from couture to cultural iconography. His designs

soon became a staple for the red carpet and silver screen, blending minimalist aesthetics with sensual sophistication, a hallmark of Armani’s creative signature.

What set Armani apart was more than just his designs. It was his uncompromising control over his creative empire. He remained the sole shareholder of his brand, overseeing everything from manufacturing to store layout, ensuring unwavering consistency while expanding into fragrances, home décor, hotels, and beyond. His ventures grew to include iconic watch collections, Armani/Casa interiors, and the luxurious Armani Hotel in Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.

An ardent advocate for art and culture, Armani became the first fashion designer to receive a solo exhibition at New York’s Guggenheim Museum in 2000, a landmark that elevated fashion within the institutional art world. In 2015, he inaugurated Armani/Silos in Milan,

a monumental archive and exhibition space dedicated to bridging fashion, photography, and visual culture.

In his final days, Armani reflected on the personal cost of a life devoted to work. He candidly shared, “My only regret in life was spending too many hours working and not enough time with friends and family”. His passing at the age of 91 prompted an outpouring of global admiration. Thousands gathered outside his Milan headquarters to pay homage, while Milan declared a day of national mourning. Tributes recognized him as “the master of luxury ready-to-wear,” a visionary who redefined elegance through quiet refinement and enduring style.

Maya La Chocolaterie Founder and CEO, Sonya Janahi shares her journey into Morocco as the destination for the brand’s first African franchise, how to maintain quality standards, and her role as a Bahraini entrepreneur.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE MOROCCO AS THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL MARKET OUTSIDE THE GCC?

We didn’t choose Morocco, Morocco chose us! The partners had their experience of Maya in Saudi Arabia, and then visited us in Bahrain. They saw the quality of the products, the dishes, the chocolate, and the brand itself. They immediately fell in love with it and wanted to create something unique and different in Morocco. For us, it was amazing because this is the first Bahraini franchise to go into Africa, specifically into Morocco.

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE JAWAD EL YAMIQ AND HIS BROTHER AS PARTNERS FOR MAYA?

It was an interesting venture for us, working with the Morocco team, with Jawad El Yamiq and his brother. He is an international football player and a well-known celebrity. This adds value to the brand. We do an evaluation on every franchisee to see their financial capability, their understanding of the brand, how they can manage it, and other factors. Once they tick all the boxes, they get qualified as a franchisee, including their commitments to open the agreed number of shops within the ten-year contract. That encouraged us even more to give them the brand.

WHAT STEPS ARE YOU TAKING TO ENSURE THE SAME QUALITY IN MOROCCO AS IN BAHRAIN?

One of the things we do is experiment, test, and check what works and what doesn’t. Then we put in the proper systems, manuals, and standards. Maya in Morocco, or anywhere else, should always be the same. We train the chefs, baristas, and servers. We have a team that goes and trains them

on the manuals, processes, and plating. We also spent more than a month perfecting the recipes based on local products, because the flour in Bahrain is not the same as the flour in Morocco, and other products also have different textures and compositions. It’s not just cut and paste. You have to modify to ensure that the end result is 100% the same everywhere. We also have rules for quality, service, and design. My partner, who is my brother, is an architect, and he designs every shop to create the same signature feel, adapted to the location and size of the space.

WILL THERE BE ITEMS ON THE MENU THAT ARE ADAPTED TO MOROCCAN TASTES?

Yes! We took a local dessert called Johara and deconstructed it with chocolate and orange blossom flavors to create a unique experience. Today it is a top seller in Morocco. We also infused chocolate into savory dishes. Chocolate at high percentages is not sweet, so it works beautifully with breakfast dishes and sandwiches. For example, one of the top items is brie cheese and apricot jam made fresh in-house, served on chocolate ciabatta bread. The combination is beautiful.

WHAT IS THE UNIFYING PHILOSOPHY GUIDING YOUR APPROACH TO BUSINESSES AND BRANDS?

Maya is definitely a franchise model, and a franchise model always needs to be respected. As the franchiser, we make sure we have the right systems and manuals to protect the brand. We also monitor the franchisees to ensure they follow the standards. Some products are made locally, but certain signature products and ingredients are made in Bahrain and shipped to the franchisees to maintain the secret of the brand.

OUTSIDE OF BUSINESS VENTURES, YOU ALSO HELD MANY ROLES IN KEY ORGANIZATIONS RELATING TO BAHRAIN’S ECONOMY AND COMMUNITY. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MAJOR CHALLENGES YOU FACED IN THOSE ROLES AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?

Being an entrepreneur is not easy. It has challenges everywhere. For me, it was important to support the business community and startups so they could understand how to make use of Bahrain’s infrastructure. You also need to understand the bylaws and regulations, labor laws, commercial laws, all of it. Many startups don’t take this into account, but you must if you want consistency. This is why I also went into the International Labor Organization (ILO). It is a tripartite organization, and I brought to the table my experience as an employer and the challenges we face. Today, I am Vice President for Asia and the Pacific countries under the International Organisation of Employers (IOE), which is one of the ILO tripartites. My role is to work with chambers and employers to ensure their voice is heard and to create win-win situations between employers and employees. As Bahrainis, we have the confidence to go global because of the leadership of our country. His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa; His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister; and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), give us the confidence, both men and women, to always aim for bigger achievements. This is why so many Bahrainis hold

high international positions today, and I am proud to be one of them.

ARE THERE ANY NEW VENTURES OR PROJECTS WE SHOULD EXPECT TO HEAR ABOUT IN THE NEAR FUTURE?

Yes. We are negotiating with two new countries for Maya. Maya started in 2006 in Bahrain and we had franchises across the GCC, but we faced challenges. One of the biggest was that franchise concepts are not legally protected well in the GCC, and when problems happened, the long time it took for legal decisions had damaged the brand. Then the pandemic also affected us. We decided to step back, reevaluate, and rebrand. We completely changed the menu and modernized the concept. Morocco was the first new location after that, and now we are negotiating two new countries, with more territories opening in 2026.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO THOSE TAKING THE FIRST STEP OF THEIR ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY?

Think outside the box. Be different, be creative, be innovative. Don’t just copy others. The market has its limits, and Bahrain is small, but if you think globally when creating your brand, product, or service, you will have a niche. Bahrain has an amazing infrastructure for testing, but don’t focus only on Bahrain. With AI, technology, and logistics, the world is at your doorstep. Build a proper entity that one day could be listed on the stock market or attract venture capital. Always think big.

COULD YOU SHARE WITH US WHAT INITIALLY INSPIRED YOUR DEDICATION TO PRESERVING AND DEVELOPING AZERBAIJAN’S CARPET WEAVING TRADITION?

Azerbaijani carpets transcend the category of decorative art; they embody the collective memory, spiritual depth, and creative genius of our people. From an early age, I understood that every knot is not merely a technical gesture but a vessel of meaning, encoding ancient symbols, ancestral voices, and the rhythm of everyday life. My dedication arises from a conviction that this cultural language must be safeguarded as part of humanity’s shared heritage. To me, carpet weaving is not a relic of the past but a living, evolving art form that has the capacity to speak powerfully to the present and the future. By ensuring its continuity, we affirm our identity while also offering it as a contribution to the global cultural dialogue.

HOW HAS AZERKHALCHA OJSC CONTRIBUTED TO THE REVIVAL OF THE CARPET INDUSTRY, ESPECIALLY IN RURAL REGIONS OF AZERBAIJAN?

Our vision has always been to weave tradition and progress together. Azerkhalcha has established a network of contemporary weaving studios across

rural Azerbaijan, enabling artisans to remain rooted in their communities while engaging in a practice that is both economically viable and culturally meaningful. In doing so, we have not only revitalized a craft that was in danger of decline but also restored dignity, pride, and intergenerational continuity to regions long regarded as custodians of this art. This effort is as much about cultural preservation as it is about social sustainability, empowering women, strengthening local economies, and ensuring that carpet weaving continues to flourish as a living heritage, deeply anchored in the cultural landscape of Azerbaijan yet resonant on the world stage.

WHAT SPECIFIC INITIATIVES HAVE YOU IMPLEMENTED TO EMPOWER LOCAL ARTISANS AND ENSURE THEIR CRAFTS REMAIN VIABLE IN TODAY’S MARKET?

We focus on three key pillars: training, technology, and market access. First, we have implemented professional training programs to pass on traditional techniques to younger generations. Second, we have integrated quality control systems and modern tools to enhance efficiency while preserving authenticity. Lastly, we have established marketing channels, both locally and internationally, ensuring that artisans are connected to appreciative buyers for their work.

CAN YOU DESCRIBE SOME OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES FACED IN MODERNIZING TRADITIONAL CARPETMAKING TECHNIQUES WITHOUT COMPROMISING THEIR CULTURAL AUTHENTICITY?

The central challenge is one of balance. Tradition carries the soul of Azerbaijani carpet weaving, while innovation is the key to its relevance in contemporary society. Our approach is to ensure that every new process, material, or design is introduced in dialogue with the mastersthose who are the living archives of this tradition. By embedding their wisdom in each decision, we ensure that modernization becomes a respectful evolution rather than a rupture. In this way, innovation does not overshadow authenticity but serves as a bridge that allows our carpets to remain both timeless and timely.

HOW HAS THE RURAL CARPET WEAVING COMMUNITY CHANGED OVER THE PAST DECADE UNDER YOUR LEADERSHIP?

I have witnessed a remarkable transformation from a declining tradition to a thriving community. Many artisans who once had to leave their villages for work have returned to carpet weaving as a sustainable livelihood. There is also a renewed sense of dignity in this profession; young people now view carpet weaving not as a relic of the past, but as a pathway to a meaningful future.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF SAFEGUARDING TRADITIONAL CRAFTS LIKE CARPET WEAVING FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS?

Traditional crafts are cultural anchors in an age of flux. They remind us of who we are and where we come from, offering continuity in a rapidly changing world. A carpet is not just an object; it is a chronicle in knots, a living testimony of ancestors’ creativity. By safeguarding this heritage, we are not merely preserving beauty, we are ensuring that future generations inherit a tangible sense of belonging. When a child sees an Azerbaijani carpet decades from now, I want them to feel that same resonance: that their roots speak through it, across time.

CAN YOU SHARE A MEMORABLE SUCCESS STORY RELATED TO THE REVITALIZATION EFFORTS IN A RURAL COMMUNITY?

First and foremost, the uniqueness of Azerkhalcha lies in its mission to support and preserve Azerbaijani cultural heritage. Just as our weavers are exclusively women, our distinctiveness also stems from the fact that we operate not in one single region, but across many parts

of the country. Today, we run 14 workshops across Azerbaijan, employing more than 550 weavers which makes 85% of the total number of Azerkhalcha team. We provide educational programs for women weavers in the regions and ensure their daily transportation. Every morning, our buses bring them from their villages to the workshops and return them home in the evening. This is one of the unique ways in which Azerkhalcha empowers women living in remote villages. At the same time, for those on maternity leave or unable to leave their homes for various reasons, we deliver looms and equipment directly to their houses, supplying them with raw materials and yarns. A dedicated supervisor regularly visits to oversee the process, enabling these women to work and earn an income without leaving home. Through these initiatives, we not only safeguard and continue centuries-old traditions using exclusively natural, locally sourced Azerbaijani materials, but also ensure that carpet weaving keeps pace with global artistic developments. By collaborating with contemporary artists, we create innovative carpets that breathe new life into this ancient craft and open new horizons for its future.

LOOKING AHEAD, WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS FOR AZERKHALCHA AND THE BROADER CARPET INDUSTRY IN AZERBAIJAN?

Our vision is to strengthen the global identity of Azerbaijani carpets as emblems of artistry, authenticity, and luxury. This includes expanding educational programs to train new generations of weavers, fostering innovation in design while rooted in tradition, and creating deeper synergies with architecture and contemporary art worldwide. I imagine a future where Azerbaijani carpets are spoken of in the same breath as Swiss timepieces or Italian leather, synonymous with excellence and cultural prestige.

WHAT MESSAGE WOULD YOU LIKE TO CONVEY TO YOUNG ARTISANS AND ENTREPRENEURS ASPIRING TO CONTRIBUTE TO AZERBAIJAN’S CULTURAL HERITAGE THROUGH CRAFTS LIKE CARPET WEAVING?

I would tell them: tradition is not a burden, it is a foundation. Be proud of the roots that ground you, but be fearless in your vision of the future. If you respect heritage while innovating with purpose, your work will transcend borders and generations. Exemplary Craftsmanship

Vacheron Constantin enriches the Overseas collection with two new interpretations of the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin: in pink gold with a matching pink gold dial and in white gold with a burgundy lacquer dial. Both models are presented in 41.5 mm cases with 18K gold bracelets and two additional rubber straps in different colors.

With its distinctive design inspired by the Maltese cross, the emblem of the Maison, the Overseas collection deftly balances sporty attributes and casual elegance while the Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin model perpetuates the legacy of ultra-thin watchmaking that has long distinguished Vacheron Constantin. Inspired by the spirit of exploration, Overseas expresses an openness to the world that has been central to the Maison’s philosophy since it was founded in 1755.

Encircling the dial of the pink gold model, a minutes track is marked in blue – a subtle punctuation in the chic tone-on-tone aesthetic of the case, bracelet, sunburst satin-finished dial and matching pink gold moon-phase display. For a more casual and sporty allure, a textured rubber strap in blue or white can be interchanged with the gold bracelet.

The cool tone of the white gold case creates a rich contrast with the burgundy lacquer dial, which is matched by a burgundy moon-phase disc; further contrast provided by white numerals and indexes. In a choice of burgundy and white, the two rubber straps that can be interchanged with the 18K white gold bracelet give the option of a richer palette matching the dial or a cooler palette harmonizing with the case and numerals.

The ultra-thin self-winding movement, Manufacture Calibre 1120 QP/1, incorporates a perpetual calendar and moon-phase display. A perpetual calendar is among the most challenging complications for watchmakers to master because the calendar that governs our lives is a complex arrangement of months of different lengths and an additional day in February every fourth year. the chance to discover, in the historic building in the Rue du Rhône, the new Patek Philippe “Rare Handcrafts 2025” collection, a rich array of timepieces combining technical prowess with unlimited inventive ness.

As heir to a great Genevan tradition, Patek Philippe has always been intent on preserving and advancing the artistic crafts associated with the embellishment of timepieces. And so it is that every year the manufacture unveils a new collection of unique pieces and limited editions that constantly push back the frontiers of what is possible and draw on ever more varied sources of inspiration.

The “Rare Handcrafts 2025” collection (a total of 78 pieces, comprising 23 dome table clocks and small dome table clocks, 1 desk clock, 10 pocket watches and 44 Calatrava and Golden Ellipse wristwatches) once again called into play a vast range of outstanding skills, including Grand Feu cloisonné enamel, miniature painting on enamel, grisaille enamel, flinqué enamel, paillonné enamel, Fauré enamel, hand engraving, hand-executed guilloché work and gemsetting, raised to new heights of excellence. Patek Philippe also showcased several techniques that are innovating in horology, such as Longwy enamel on faience and wood micromarquetry – the latter gracing a dome table clock for the first time. And not forgetting the growing number of what are known as “mixed techniques” pieces, uniting, for example, cloisonné enamel and paillonné enamel, or miniature painting on enamel and hand engraving. These 78 pieces with their ever-more original and astonishing decorations were presented

to great effect in an elegant, specially devised decor divided into three areas.

Visitors were greeted in the central area by an extraordinary new group of twelve Calatrava wristwatches, their bezels adorned with Clous de Paris or hobnail guilloché work and their dials with grisaille enamel au blanc de Limoges, Grand Feu cloisonné enamel and paillonné enamel representing the constellations associated with the different signs of the zodiac. The salon overlooking the lake, with a splendid view of Geneva harbor, brings together the pieces celebrating the beauties of nature –flora, fauna, landscapes –in very refined decorations.

The Rare Handcrafts 2025 collection again gives an important place to birds, notably on the Golden Ellipse Reference 5738/50J-011 Yellow-Crested Cockatoo, its dial in cloisonné enamel enriched with miniature painting on enamel, and on the Calatrava wristwatches 5077/100R-071 “White Swan” and 5738/50G-029 “Bald Eagle”, depicted with great finesse in wood marquetry, enriched with gold leaf for the swan.

The plant world and its amazing repertory of shapes and colors inspired an entire group of dome table clocks and small dome table clock representing a variety of techniques (cloisonné enamel; Longwy enamel on faience; paillonné and gemset Fauré

enamel, grisaille enamel au blanc de Limoges), with decorations ranging from the natural charm of wildflowers –poppies, ox-eye daisies, cornflowers – to floral motifs of Japanese or Indian inspiration. The salon facing the rue du Rhône honors legendary examples of human endeavor (painting, music, literature, architecture, traditions, sports), by varying and combining techniques with complete freedom. Two authors of major historical importance represent literature: Jules Verne and Cervantes. The dome table clock 20171M-001 “Nautilus” in cloisonné enamel and grisaille enamel enriched with miniature painting on enamel drew inspiration from the famous adventure novel “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas”. Meanwhile, the Spanish author Cervantes is honored on two pocket watches portraying Don Quixote charging at windmills, in two different color palettes, one representing daytime, the other, night.

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US YOUR EARLY INFLUENCES AND WHAT SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN CALLIGRAPHY AND GRAPHIC DESIGN?

Regarding the choice of calligraphy, I can say that it was not a choice. In fact, my childhood experiences were full of the times when I was introduced to special inks and colors in my father’s carpet and carpet materials room and used them to make colored inks for myself. Since childhood, my mind and imagination were full of various patterns and colors, and when I learned to write in the first grade of elementary school, I would write my classmates’ names in typography on their completed homework notebooks, although at that time I didn’t even know the title of the work I was doing and was only interested in sign design and graphic arts.

HOW HAS YOUR ROLE AS A PROFESSOR AND UNIVERSITY TEACHER INFLUENCED YOUR APPROACH TO ART AND CALLIGRAPHY?

Studying in the field of graphics and a PhD in Modern calligraphy were actually complementary to each other for me. First, I became familiar with the category of letters and the use of graphics and layout and all the principles of graphics, which was able to further, complete my knowledge in the

field of calligraphy-painting. Then, by studying in the field of art research and the branch of modern calligraphy, I conducted extensive and unique research that further completed my previous information and knowledge. During the years of teaching and holding specialized workshops, I always tried to transfer this knowledge in the best possible way and pave the way for students and those interested in these fields, and these teachings have also been new experiences.

WHAT

ARE SOME OF THE MOST MEMORABLE EXHIBITIONS OR PROJECTS THAT HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY SHAPED YOUR CAREER?

Being a member of the Cité de Paris Artists Association and participating in this study opportunity and visiting forty art museums in Paris for members of this association was a very valuable opportunity for me. During my years of study, we read articles and saw pictures from the history of Western and Eastern art, but being physically present and visiting the works in museums was a very valuable and effective experience. But definitely, holding solo exhibitions that I have held in recent years in the Persian Gulf countries, especially the UAE, provided me with good feedback and opportunities, which led to attention in the Oriental Romance collection.

HOW DO YOU VIEW THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TRADITIONAL IRANIAN CALLIGRAPHY AND CONTEMPORARY ART FORMS?

Modern Calligraphy is actually a type of painting in which we use letters, words, and numbers as visual elements in a mostly abstract work. Modern Calligraphy has painterly visual components and a more transboundary visual language. While calligraphy means writing letters and words beautifully while observing predetermined and classical principles and rules. So combining the two together creates a much more tangible world for the audience, especially the Persian Gulf audience, because the letters and words are somewhat common and familiar. I can say that ModernCalligraphy came along and saved traditional calligraphy from becoming obsolete!

CAN YOU DISCUSS THE PROCESS BEHIND CREATING YOUR MAJOR WORKS, SUCH AS THE HANDWRITTEN QURAN ON COWHIDE LEATHER?

Years of experience in painting, working with various types of calligraphy, and studying and working in the field of graphics have distinguished my works in terms of form. Fluency, simplicity, speed, improvisation, the presence of errors, and originality are among the values of the artworks I create. I never sketch or make a work in advance, and in fact, I am never aware of the final outcome of the artwork. My idea is at the tip of my pen, which I always reach during execution, and I am simultaneously thinking about ideas and executing. I really like this kind of oriental perspective in the execution of my works. Given my academic education in art, more than 20 years of professional and continuous activity in the field of calligraphy and calligraphy-painting, and mastery of many types of scripts, I tried to present my artworks in the Persian Gulf countries more, a suitable and appropriate presentation can certainly add a special attraction of this region to artists like me and other talented young ones.

WHAT CHALLENGES HAVE YOU FACED IN PIONEERING NEW STYLES WITHIN THE REALM OF CALLIGRAPHY, AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?

I must say that there are three groups of artists active in the field of calligraphy; calligraphers who master the principles of calligraphy, painters who master the technique and execution, and graphic artists who know more about form and space. Fortunately, I consider myself part of all three categories, as years of experience in painting, working with various types of calligraphy, and studying and working in the field of graphics have been able to distinguish my works in terms of form. My special attention to composition and its diversity, influenced by the graphic perspective, mastery

of classical lines in performances, along with decades of experience in working with the graphic perspective that I have in my works, have led me to have more diverse and different performances that have also been popular with the audience.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG ARTISTS AND CALLIGRAPHERS ASPIRING TO INNOVATE WITHIN TRADITIONAL ART FORMS?

Young and talented Iranian artists who may be active throughout the greater Iranian region should always strive to acquire new information, practice and practice in performances, and continue on their path. The most important factor is not to be afraid of creating new works and performing continuously by observing the right principles so that they can improve and progress every day. Working hard is never a sign of superiority, but creating work correctly and creatively can be the right and unique way for every young artist to be recognized by

the world and pave the way for their progress by participating in international events, especially in the Persian Gulf region.

LOOKING AHEAD, WHAT PROJECTS OR ARTISTIC GOALS ARE YOU MOST PASSIONATE ABOUT PURSUING NEXT?

My interest in the world of art and creating works has been a part of my life and daily routine for years. I don’t think there has ever been a moment since I was a child when I distanced myself from this feeling and world, and in fact, what has occupied my attention and focus the most in recent years is the creation of calligraphy works in the form of new and diverse collections. Although the field of graphics and typography is also one of my occasional hobbies, I feel that I really love the creativity and freedom I have in producing calligraphy works and I will continue on this path.

First of all, being Sicilian and loving food. At thirteen, I started working in a bar-pastry shopcafeteria in Vittoria called Sweet. And between the ages of sixteen and eighteen, I gained experience in savory cuisine. At that moment, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. Cooking would be my way of expressing myself, studying and working, working and studying.

HOW DO YOU SUCCESSFULLY PRESERVE TRADITIONAL SICILIAN RECIPES WHILE INCORPORATING MODERN TECHNIQUES AND INGREDIENTS TO KEEP THE CUISINE RELEVANT AND INNOVATIVE?

By continuing to innovate, reviving the long roots that come from the past. It’s easier that way than inventing something from scratch. Italy and Sicily have a past and a variety of microclimates

that are unique in the world. Today, thanks to technology, this heritage can be revisited without spatial or temporal limits. Just think about the fact that we use wheat in every possible way, from bread to pasta. Ergo: those who have no history have little to innovate.

WHICH SPECIFIC LOCAL INGREDIENTS FROM SICILY DO YOU CONSIDER ESSENTIAL IN YOUR COOKING, AND HOW DO THEY REFLECT THE ISLAND’S UNIQUE CULTURAL AND NATURAL HERITAGE?

Sicily, as I often say, is a food and wine continent, from seasonal vegetables to seasonal fish, condiments and fruits, from oregano to wild fennel, extra virgin olive oil, capers, black olives and green olives to accompany bread. Not to mention the wines, milk and cheeses from sheep and cows.

First, they must become chefs, work their way up the ladder, and only then, when they have mastered their craft, the space around them and the economy, can they say they have learned a feasible trade.

Located in the Concini Palace in the centre of Florence, Locale Firenze is tied architecturally, spiritually, and culinarily to its beautiful hometown. Although the building has been extended and renovated throughout its life, much of it dates back to the 16th century and beyond: the basement, in fact, dates back to the 13th century, meaning Locale Firenze quite literally has its roots in Florentine history. Those roots also remain vital. The restaurant’s basement is now the location for its wine cellar, along with the mixology lab that helped Locale Firenze’s inventive bar be named one of the World’s 50 Best in 2023. The creativity and sense of place extend to the restaurant. The roots are

Italian. The cooking, by Simone Caponnetto, is a reflection of the chef. Italian at heart, yes, but with a world view borne of many years of travel and working in kitchens such as The Waterside Inn in Bray, Tokyo’s Narisawa, Heinz Beck in Rome and Monte Carlo, and, particularly, Mugaritz. From there, Simone learnt more about experimentation, fermentation, and, particularly, how to use the results in creative, original, and subtle ways. These, and other techniques Simone has learnt through his career, shape the dishes at Locale Firenze. The methods may be complex, but the results are simple and from the heart.

Bentley Batur Convertible

The first of the Batur Convertibles has been created by Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house bespoke and special projects division. A true one-off, the exterior of the Batur Convertible is finished in Opalite with Beluga and Mandarin highlights. The interior, co-created with the client’s detailed input, features a unique ‘one plus one’ design where the driver’s cockpit and passenger accommodation are finished in contrasting but complementary colors.

The design of this first Batur Convertible emphasizes the extraordinary performance of its 740 bhp, W12 powertrain. The shimmering silver of the Opalite finish exterior is bisected by a black gloss Batur racing stripe bordered on each side by Mandarin pinstripes. The painted feature racing stripe, embedded seamlessly into the bodywork, begins at the radiator and runs rearwards over the bonnet and cockpit ‘airbridge’ before resuming along the rear deck to the Bentley wings badge. At the rear, these elements are connected by bespoke embroidery in the same formation over the rear Tonneau. The Batur’s distinctive matrix grille is finished in gloss Beluga with Mandarin orange highlights, while the same base and accent shades feature on the five-spoke alloy wheels.

If the exterior of this unique Batur Convertible

has echoes of classic sports racing cars, the interior develops the performance theme. Its driver-focused cockpit ‘capsule’ is visually separated from the passenger accommodation by two contrasting colorways: Beluga black on the driver’s side, Linen for the occupant of the passenger seat. Accordingly, the driver’s seat is finished in Beluga black hide and Alcantara, with Mulliner’s Batur pattern picked out on seat bolsters and door inserts in Linen and Mandarin contrast stitching. A band of Mandarin hide encircles the driver, running from the driver’s side of the center console across the fascia instrumentation and continuing seamlessly beneath the door waistrail. In dramatic contrast, the passenger reclines in a sports seat in Linen hide and Alcantara with Mandarin detailing. The Batur pattern detailing on seat and door insert is on a Linen background with Mandarin contrast stitching.

The specification of this Batur Convertible reveals a passion for detail on the part of the commissioning owner, brought to life by the meticulous craftsmanship of the Mulliner team. The fascia and door waistrails are executed in a subtle satin black engine spin finish, with gloss Beluga veneer for the center console. Outer dial bezels are

finished in Beluga while the dial faces themselves are finished in light titanium.

Mulliner’s engineering development car –Batur Convertible Car Zero – made its dynamic debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and now travels to the US for Monterey Car Week, where visitors will be able to admire its bespoke duo tone finish in Vermilion Gloss over Vermillion Satin.

Created by Mulliner, Bentley’s in-house bespoke division and the longest standing coachbuilder in the world, the Batur Convertible is the third car in Mulliner’s Coachbuilt family, following the Bacalar barchetta and the Batur coupé.

Strictly limited to small number of cars, the Batur Convertible retains the most powerful version of Bentley’s iconic W12, with a 740 bhp, handassembled 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged engine.

Mulliner’s in-house design team co-creates every Batur Convertible with its clients, working together through a specially created visualiser that allows any part of the car to be customized in color and surface finish. Like this car, each subsequent Batur Convertible will be as individual as its owner.

McLaren W1 and McLaren 750S Le Mans

The McLaren W1 made its public debut in the Americas at Exotics on Broadway . It will be joined by McLaren’s newest special edition, the McLaren 750S Le Mans and a special States of Endurance Artura Spider.

The McLaren W1 made its global debut in October 2024 and was seen publicly for the first time in the Americas during Monterey Car Week. The W1 is the ground-breaking successor to two of the greatest supercars of all time – the McLaren F1 and McLaren P1TM – and opens a new chapter in McLaren’s famous ‘1’ car lineage. Featuring a V8 hybrid powertrain with 1,275PS – the highest power output of any McLaren ever and greater than all core competitors – the W1 is the fastest-accelerating and fastest-lapping road-legal McLaren ever, achieving the astonishing combination of being quicker than a Speedtail to 300km/h (186mph) in a straight-line and 3 seconds a lap ahead of a McLaren Senna on McLaren’s reference track. Also on display for the first time in the Americas is the McLaren 750S Le Mans, a special edition 750S coupe celebrating the 30th anniversary of McLaren’s 24 Hours of Le Mans win in 1995. Paying

homage to the iconic #59 F1 GTR, the 750S Le Mans is offered with a Le Mans Grey exterior paint - the option of McLaren Orange is also available –and features a roof scoop and 5-spoke LM wheels. More exciting is the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) High Downforce Kit (HDK), which adds visual drama to the 750S with a raised carbon fibre Active Rear Spoiler featuring integral endplates. The front bumper features an enlarged carbon fibre splitter, increasing downforce by 10 percent compared to the standard 750S, enhancing track performance and echoing the famous McLaren F1 LM edition’s aerodynamic additions. The weekend also served as a launch pad for States of Endurance, a celebration of the 30th anniversary of McLaren’s 1995 Le Mans victory that saw road cars – the McLaren Artura Spider and McLaren 750S – drive across the country from Monterey to Miami, roughly the distance covered in the 24hour race, with a variety of stops and engagements along the way. Artura Spider in a special wrap meant to emulate the daytime driving experience of a 24-hour race. Two 750S supercars also joined the journey, each in its own wrap, one inspired by the dawn, and the other by the night.

We took off to the streets to Dubai to experience the modern and sporty BMW X3. Boasting greater sporting appeal, visual impact, and versatility than ever, the new BMW X3 assumes the mantle of a talented all-rounder for everyday use, leisure activities, and trips away in the brand’s core segment. A new design language gives the fourth generation of the Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) for the premium midsize segment much enhanced exterior presence and an aura of dynamic grace. High-quality materials, a far more generous standard specification, advanced digitalization and the new BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on BMW Operating System 9 set the tone for the premium ambience inside the progressively designed cabin.

Its maximum output of 398 hp is channelled to the road via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission and BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. The BMW X3 M50 xDrive powers to 100 km/h from rest in 4.6 seconds.

48V mild hybrid technology also endows all other variants of the new BMW X3 with enhanced efficiency and rapid power delivery. It enables the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit in the new BMW X3 20 xDrive to generate maximum output of 208 hp. This translates into a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 7.8 seconds.
