A topdressing (or conditioner) is the true playing surface of an infield. It must help retain moisture, ensure fair bounces, create a smooth sliding surface, and add to an infield's aesthetic appeal. It helps balance both firm and fast surfaces in hot, dry months as well as sticky and wet surfaces in rainy months. The Difference
Most infield soils are mined from the ground and screened off at a certain size and sold. In other words, it is what it is. But for DuraEdge infield soils, screening is just the beginning.
After harvesting the raw materials for our infield soil products, we mechanically blend the sand and clay together at specific ratios creating a consistent blend year after year.

Engineered Soil Technology (E.S.T.)™ outperforms other methods because it is based on Soil Science, Not Guesswork. Grant’s E.S.T. Program® assesses the current state of an infield, then prescribes specific corrective measures to transform a poor infield into one with the highest performance possible.

Why Classifying Matters
Classifying your facility is important simply because what works for the big leagues will not necessarily work for everyone.

Mixes
SCR and its Importance
The SCR is a score derived by dividing the percentage of silt by the percentage of clay in a soil sample. The SCR score indicates the relative performance of an infield soil product.
The optimum SCR score is 0.5 to 1.0. The further an SCR score is from the optimum range, the greater the difficulty in successfully amending the soil. Generally, soils with SCR scores below 3.0 are more easily amended; SCR scores above 3.0 tend to be costly and climb closer to the price of a complete infield renovation.
