What’s on

Hosts Frank and Suzzi Jerkic

Awesome foursome of super sopranos IT may have taken 12 months to organise finally, but Australia’s most glamorous ‘pop-opera’ group, Belladiva, will showcase their extraordinary vocal skills at the Burdekin Theatre on August 20. They were initially booked to perform at the same venue last year as part of the Morning Melodies program, but the COVID-19 outbreak intervened. Burdekin Shire Council

Venues Manager, Chris Patrick, said the group’s visit was again part of the Morning Melodies program but would be held on a Friday, not the usual Wednesday time slot. Complimentary morning tea will be offered at 10 am, with the show starting at 11 am. Belladiva’s virtuosic vocal feats and breathtaking modern interpretations cover not only operatic arias but pop-opera hits, contemporary classics and musical theatre

favourites, from the ‘Flower Duet’ and ‘Nella Fantasia’, to ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Blackbird’. Performing live to more than 100,000 people nationwide, the Queensland Conservatorium of Music-trained Belladiva has appeared at many prestigious events, including Channel 9’s Carols in the City, The Queensland Pops Orchestra, Brisbane Festival, Queensland Music Festival, Noosa Long Weekend, The

Woodford Folk Festival, and as individuals have performed with Opera Queensland, OzOpera, Circa, Women in Voice, Oscar Theatre Company, Harvest Rain Theatre Company and Operacus. This quartet of sopranos propels the art of classical singing into the 21st century with modern style, sophistication and first-rate entertainment.
