As we celebrate 150 years of serving Scotland’s food and drink industry, we’re proud to reflect on the progress that brought us here and the ambitious steps we’re taking toward the future. From sustainability breakthroughs to team expansion and standout events, here’s what’s been happening at Dunns.

150th ANNIVERSARY
With roots dating back to 1875, we’re proud to be celebrating our 150th year as one of Scotland’s most historic family businesses.
To our valued customers, suppliers, colleagues and partners–thank you for being part of our journey. Your continued support inspires us to keep growing as we aim for the next 150.
SUSTAINABILITY IMPROVEMENTS
As we prepared for this landmark year, we kept moving forward. While we’re on track to reach £50 million in turnover, we’re equally proud that our carbon footprint is heading in the opposite direction. Thanks to more than £1.5 million invested in sustainable upgrades, we’ve seen a major reduction in carbon intensity.


TRADE EVENT
Our 2024 Tradeshow, a Halloweenthemed Spooktacular, was our busiest event to date. More than 100 suppliers showcased best-inclass products and innovations from across the food and drink industry.

CULINARY CLASSES
This year, we’ve brought our refurbished test kitchen to life with a series of supplier days and culinary masterclasses led by Donnie Munro. These events have helped showcase the creativity and expertise within our growing team.



KEY SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES
A £1 million investment in a new 11,000ft2 CO₂ freezer has replaced an older system that used 404A refrigerant, which had a high Global Warming Potential. The new unit uses less energy and helps minimise leaks.
Four hundred square metres of solar panels and LED lighting have been installed across our facilities, generating 225,000 kWh per year. We also use voltage optimisation to further reduce our electricity usage.
14 electric vehicles now make up a third of our fleet, cutting transport-related emissions significantly.
CLIMATE PARTNER COLLABORATION
As members of The Country Range Group for Scotland, we’ve been working closely with climate consultancy ClimatePartner to identify and reduce key carbon hotspots.
Initial audits revealed a drop in carbon intensity from 34 to 19 tonnes of CO₂ per £1 million turnover. Since then, we’ve achieved a 7% reduction in our overall footprint and a 23% reduction in emissions per million in turnover.

FOOD FOCUS
As part of our expansion, we’ve strengthened our sales division with five new Food Business Development Managers. We’ve also made several senior appointments, including our first Executive Development Chef, Donnie Munro.

Donnie is a Master Craftsman –Member of the Craft Guild Of Chefs who has cooked for celebrities such as Jack Nicholson, Michael Douglas, Billy Connolly and Lenny Henry, as well as members of the royal family.
