New Mexico Comprehensive I Studio - Fifth year
The Earth connection project is inspired by native Pueblo Indians construction methods which incorporate earth materials in their buildings as a way of respecting and using what the earth gives. From this traditional way of building they connect to the larger cosmos. This strong desire to be surrounded by earth materials extends to its colors as well, New Mexico main characteristics are the dramatic skies and landscape. The sunsets are specially dramatic as they cast their colors on the mountains and enormous skies. During the day, the sun illuminates the area which is surrounded by mountains. The Barrancos Blancos situated to the North of the site - are the most dominant feature and Vivac winery icon. However, there is a especial moment that I emphasize in my design and this occurs at Sunset looking East. The concept informed the building forms as it lets the vines weave through it, between earth and the sky. In this project I propose using Rammed Earth walls and stucco as more modern, durable and Sustainable building materials. The sunset illuminates the eastern mountains which acquire a reddish color feature that is known as the Sangre de Cristo or “Blood of Christ” Programmatically, the bar and restaurant are strategically located before a reflecting pool to take advantage of the Sunset experience, after all wine is also known as the “Blood of Christ”

Weaving with the landscape - Vines Vines as well as other plants help in weather control on spaces adjacent to them. In Taos Pueblo the Vernacular Architecture is connected to earth, which they bring to their Architecture as a way to find a refuge on it. In the winery along with earth I bring the Vines around and up and down through the building creating a Weaving sequence of the Vertical geometry composed by the Vines and the building itself.

ÉVORA CULTURAL CENTER Évora - Portugal Comprehensive II Studio - Fifth year
The site culture and architecture expression of Évora has been changing through time due to the different occupants that came to this region. This cultural center is inspired in the history matrix of lines and designs that emerged and created new intersecting geometries of the city. The concept evolves from these cultural intersections as well as the characteristics of the modern architecture in Portugal, lines not only create shortcuts or aesthetics in my design, but are also designed to bring comfort to the users. Openings are the result of a study of tangents, direct lines and views; these ones bring light and fresh air to the interior, as well as approach to sustainable design in order to gain internal heat. The museum is as part of the city as the city is part of the museum, its synergies in its aesthetics leave a great approach to Évora’s culture to its visitants as well as to the people that passes by it. SOUNDPRINTS OF SOCIETY MACHINE Re-Hear Retail Store NYC Options I Studio - Fourth year Sound Research - NCARB Nomination This retail store is inspired on meditations and research about sounds and individual expression. One of the main problems in our society is the lack of communication and the lack of willingness to listen to ourselves and to others. It is certain that with Re-Hear devices people will be able to resolve the hearing problem with the help of hearing devices. Nevertheless, our aim to help people re-hear should cover a broader sense, this involves to educate our clients on what listening involves. In order to meet this objective, I designed an interactive store where people will listen to themselves and others according to different sound atmospheres integrated and selectively located through out the store. The introduction of an Echo chamber is to make sound possible for everyone and by everyone that enters the store where even ADA of sound could leave their soundprint in space. SOUND ATMOSPHERES

FROM THE INDIVIDUAL TO SOCIETY Use of sound absorbing material at employees areas
SAY NO TO ADA ACCESSIBILITY SAY YES TO ADA WELCOMING The right of use of space equally. We were assigned a favorite musician to inspire us with sound. My choice was Michael Jackson’s expressions with music. His input was a silent expression, his reactions were only movements. In the beginning it was discouraging not to hear a single sound from him for the purpose of this project; However, with time it came up to me the idea of ADA sound. I needed to create a space where even ADA of sound people has the chance to leave their soundprints. This discovery accentuated the need of an echo chamber in my soundprints of society machine.

ELECTROCARDIOGRAM India Student Exchange Center LIGHTING Experiment Spring 2013 Showcase The purpose for the intergenerational and Student exchange center is to expose and embrace the rich vernacular Indian resources such as: Indian beliefs, recreational activities, materials and affordable sustainability and patterns. The concept inspired a design where all elements mentioned above flow having in common one characteristic: identity. Belonging to only one place, as in an electrocardiogram, my design offers a reading of the Heart of India. Form and Function work together to achieve this vernacular and sustainable design.

Rome - Siena - Florence, Italy Siena Summer Program Options II Studio ROMAN MAXIMUS CUBICOLORS Inspired in Roman fruits and ice creams vibrant colors, the Roman Maximus Cubicolors are a contemporary set of cubicles that are embedded in the plaza across the forum. In their arrangement they have different functions, between resting spaces that protect visitors from the sun to places that provide panoramic open views for pictures and artistic drawings from above the street level. Some of the cubic spaces extend beyond the street in the ground level, these ones have two functions, these act as sitting spaces and the openings help the viewers take a peak of the ruins located underground.
