Introduction

Development Learning & at Dukes

At Dukes, our dedication to fostering a passion for learning permeates every aspect of our mission. It stands as one of the four core values guiding our daily efforts. While our focus is on instilling this love of learning in our students, it’s crucial to remember that we, too, must actively nurture it within ourselves.

In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, ongoing education is not merely advantageous—it is essential. Those who embrace lifelong learning are better positioned to grasp new opportunities, ensuring that both they and their organisations remain ahead of the curve. This is why we believe that Continuing Professional Development (CPD) holds value for every member of the Dukes community. Learning not only equips us to adapt to novel concepts and situations but also empowers all those we engage with, including the young people in our care.

Consider Michelangelo, who famously declared, “Ancora imparo” (“I’m still learning”) in his later years. This sentiment encapsulates the spirit of curiosity and humility that propels the greatest innovators—an ethos we aspire to embody and share with all.

Development Learning & Framework Our

Whatever your role in the Dukes family, our programmes are designed to help you deepen your skills, gain confidence, and become a more effective professional.

Our Learning & Development Framework encourages this kind of growth in a variety of ways. Our programmes may help you find greater clarity of purpose, or gain insight on how to help your colleagues thrive; alternatively, you might acquire the technical skills to manage finances or lead on Data Protection.

When these principles are developed with an attitude of Aspiration & Engagement in an individual – or an organisation – then outstanding performance naturally occurs.

The Dukes Hub Learning

Please login to our new Learning Hub, a space where we can come together and share our love of learning.

In the words of our founder and chairman
Aatif Hassan,
“When you bring people together who share a common purpose and a common set of principles, extraordinary things really do happen.”

The new hub combines our core pillars of Dukes L&D, namely Courses and Communities. With its intuitive search capabilities, navigating through our resources and courses is both efficient and user-friendly.

Through the Courses section, the Hub acts as our central portal for accessing, booking, and certificating training opportunities.

Tapping into the wealth of knowledge across our network, the Communities section of the new Hub leverages the expertise that we have across the Dukes Family. It enables collaboration through forums and allows communities to form and share ideas. Our nurseries, schools, colleges, and the Dukes Plus organisations can share best practices and collaborate beyond face-to-

face interactions. Through its library of assets, you can search for what you need as well as share your best materials with colleagues. It will therefore become, over time, the store of the best educational material and content across the group.

Coordinators & Collaborative Learning

Coordinators & Collaborative Learning

Dukes Community Coordinators

One of the core benefits to being part of the Dukes family is our ability to collaborate, share and learn from each other. This collaboration is driven and fostered by the Dukes Community Coordinators.

Community Coordinators bring the community together and facilitate innovation and learning, hosting meetings to share new thinking, establishing best practice, sharing ideas, and solving problems together. For more information, please visit the individual community pages on the Dukes Hub.

2025

/ 2026

will

be the

first year that we develop this approach in Europe, it is an exciting opportunity for cross collaboration.

For example, communities in Europe in 2025/2026 could include;

• Early Years – all staff and leaders

• Primary – all staff and leaders

• Secondary – all staff and leaders

• IB – those responsible for the IB Curriculum

• HR leaders

• Marketing and Admissions – all staff and leaders

• Finance leaders

This list is not exhaustive.

Dukes Teach Meets

TeachMeets are a great opportunity to network, share ideas and to both provide and receive inspiration for good practice. The purpose of TeachMeets is to work together for better continued professional development and mutual support.

TeachMeets are mainly held online, allowing for a wider community to attend. However, sometimes the TeachMeets are face-to-face and are combined with bespoke training from external facilitators.

If your community has a coordinator then they are responsible for organising the TeachMeet. If you don’t have a coordinator but are still keen to organise one, then please use the Dukes Hub Community Page as a starting point.

Collaborative Groups

Our collaborative groups provide thought leadership for Dukes on important topics. These Groups focus on best practice in their area and then share this with the community. We have collaborative groups in the following areas currently:

Early Years Group (Rik McShane)

AI Group (David Goodhew)

EDI Group (TBC)

Sustainability Champions Group (Sally Cornelius)

DYLA Group (David Goodhew)

The Dukes Learning Hub

The Dukes Hub is a space where we can come together, connect with one another and share our love of learning.

The Hub is created for our people by our people and is split into two main areas: namely courses and communities.

COMMUNITIES

Communities refers to how we connect and collaborate with one another. The new hub allows us to do this in two ways; through sharing and downloading resources and through forums where you can ask and answer questions of your colleagues and collaborate beyond the face to face.

COURSES

The Courses section gives you access to training opportunities where you will find a huge variety of courses, workshops, programmes, events, webinars and e-learning. These are designed to deepen your skills, gain confidence and competence in your role, and become a more effective professional.

There are also forums connected to each resource and each course on the hub allowing you to interact further with the community and your learning.

This is your community so please reach out if you have a question or something to suggest.
