T

his is the time of the year many of us have been waiting for - FOOTBALL SEASON! We’re fans of all the action on the Gridiron and caught up with a few players to see what they’re pushing these days and to talk about the game.

Cliff Avril has gone from being on a winless team to becoming a Super Bowl Champion, but with his fleet of rides, he was always a winner in our books! Fresh off signing a new 4-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks, he’s living life large with a few dope rides like his Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, Ferrari 458 Spyder and a 1972 Chevy Chevelle SS.

Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus is a beast on the field and on the road thanks to his custom “Fur-rari” (Ferrari 458) that sports a velvet exterior and some other bold mods that make it a one-of-a-kind sports car that has become his signature ride.

Patrick Peterson of the Arizona Cardinals is a car fanatic and loves classic Chevys with his 1973 Camaro RS and 1968 Camaro RS. He has quite the collection that also includes a Japanese import and an Italian exotic to keep things fresh!

Denver Broncos All-Pro linebacker Von Miller lives life either in A-Mode or B-Bode, with A-Mode what we see on game day. His rides reflect his dual personality, with one preferring his widebody 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS and the other his futuristic two-toned metallic grey 2015 BMW i8.

But this issue has more than just a bunch of NFL players and we’ve included the beautiful Hazel-E from VH1’s reality TV show “Love & Hip Hop.” We caught up with the reality TV star and up-and-coming rapper about her career in Hollywood and her taste in rides.

Then there’s #ProjectHulk - a green Challenger that sports a muscular Liberty Walk widebody kit and a slew of other custom treatments that make it a total package. MC Customs is also at it again with a lifted Ford F-250 for MLB All-Star Jose Reyes and his Siete Music music label.

That Fab Fours THE LEGEND is a seriously outrageous build! I’ve never seen anything like it in my life and I’m an off-road maniac, who loves extreme rides, so I’m all about the crazier the better. But this… It’s interesting and not something I’d go with when customizing my own JK. But I have to give them credit for building something that buzz worthy. I’m just not feeling the whole sci-fi look.

Ty Dolla $ign did receive some advice from an experienced builder - Mike Agazaryan of Arete MotorSports - so we’re sure he’s not going to want to mess up his own custom. That 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor replica was pretty standout and wasn’t too over the top, so we doubt that he’ll want anything crazy. And we’re definitely feature it once it’s done!

MERCEDES-BENZ OFFERS ITS OWN HOME BATTERY Now that electric cars are becoming popular options for drivers, more and more companies are adding them to their lineup, including Mercedes-Benz. But they’re going one step further and are actually repurposing their electric car’s batteries for use at home. Their latest home battery is just as functional as it is stylish (just like their cars). Each module provides 2.5kWh capacity and you can link up to eight of these home batteries together to create your very own at-home power plant that will have a capacity of 20kWh. This is more than enough to store up your solar power for when the sun’s not out and you still need power or to just store power from the grid for reuse when it’s more expensive like during peak times in the summer.

TESLA’S “LUDICROUS” MODEL S IS AN ELECTRIC SPEED DEMON Tesla’s regular ModelS P85D is no snail on the road, despite being an electric vehicle (it has its own “Insane” mode that gets 50% more power over “Sport” mode). The rangetopping Tesla goes 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds, allowing it to compete with some of the world’s greatest sports cars, so you’d think it didn’t need any more power, right? Well Tesla founder Elon Musk thought it still needed a few improvements in the power department and recently announced the new $13,000-option package for the 682hp Model S that he calls “Ludicrous Mode.” The upgrade features a beefy new 90kWh battery pack for the front motor that can push out 259 hp, while out back there’s another e-motor that churns out 503 hp, combining for a total of 762 hp.

But the crazy part is that nothing was done to the motors themselves, with the power boost coming from their new “intelligent fuse” that features its own little battery that can adapt its resistance tolerance. This new fuse allows the Ludicrous Mode to go from rest to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds.

Musk also announced that this new powertrain will be offered in the company’s Model X, which is Tesla’s upcoming SUV.

W

When companies need SEMA and CES project vehicles, many turn to Carlos Molina of Projekt Cars. Known for providing show-worthy rides, even Powerbass’ sales director Brad Fair trusted him with his own BMW. So it was a no brainer when Carlos approached the car audio company to sponsor his own Bimmer. “The bottom line is that I’ll support any build with Carlos because of his talent and his consistent contributions to the industry,” Fair says.

Since the company always wants to integrate the audio system into the style of the vehicle, Fair and Molina both decided to go with the company’s tried and true ASA3 amps, along with two 2XL1204D subs for the bass, 2XL-60.3C component speakers for the front stage and 2XL-653 for the rear fill. “He integrated the amps and woofers in a very visual display and hid the rest of the components on the interior side of the car,” Field adds. “He ultimately wanted a sound system that would play many different genres of music with some SPL, but leaning more towards sound quality than anything.”

With audio complete, Molina needed the Bimmer to look as good as it sounded and wanted to be the first to have a 335i widebody with an “impeccable paint job” so he enlisted the help of Mike Borja from Rollin’Art in Las Vegas, NV to make this one Bavarian beauty you’ll never forget. “I did a lot of research on who to trust the Prior Design widebody installation with (since it cost $9.5K), and after several talks, I decided on Mr Borja,” he notes. “When I visited his facility in Las Vegas, housing a $180K paint booth with automated mixer, I knew I made the correct choice. Being around the industry for more than two decades, I have seen my share of butchered installs, and horrendous paint jobs. Mr Borja is an artist, and what he does with custom builds places him right next to Michael Angelo.”

Dubbed “Projekt Perfection,” the goal of the build was to create a vehicle that would immediately be spotted among a sea of other vehicles in any given showroom floor. Already in its third transformation, Mr. Borja wanted to really make a statement with its current look and dressed the 335i in a Bianco Fuji White matte paint scheme, which was a $20K option for Ferraris at the time. A Prior-Design widebody kit adds some flair out front and back, while a set of 20” three-piece Forgeline wheels enhance the BMW’s aggressive demeanor.

To complement the open-face design of the wheels and provide improved stopping power, a big brake kit, with 14” rotors were installed on Molina’s daily driver. The OEM turbos were replaced by GPS in El Paso, NM, with an upgraded pair from Stett Performance, who also replaced the engine for a current model. To make sure nothing on the road can interfere with the custom build and to aid in Molina’s daily excursions, five Accele Electronics exterior cameras were added.

“I’ve always chosen products that are just released or not very easy to acquire,” Molina says.

“No one had tried the Prior-Design body kit in the States and a majority of Forgeline Wheels’ customers are domestic muscle car owners. I made sure to change everything in the BMW so that it looked fresh (excluding the Cobra carbon fiber seats that are now wrapped in grey suede).”

Taking only 29 days to complete, the BMW 335i made its grand debut at last year’s SEMA Show inside the Accele Electronics booth and really created a buzz. “We achieved what Mr. Borja wanted,” Molina details. “A stunning BMW that no one could talk sh*t about. It’s a complete build and I wouldn’t change a thing on it. There is no other widebody Prior-Design-kitted 335i in the U.S. and the Bianco Fuji paint job is flawless. Many people at the show thought it was just a wrap.”

But now Carlos is looking to up the ante and is already looking for his next ride, parting ways with the 335i to the right customer. So if it’s love at first site, drop Molina a message!

We caught up with the Pro Bowl wide receiver back in Issue 30 (2005) while he was still with the Cincinnati Bengals to talk about his rides, which included a 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, 1971 Caprice called “Piglet” and his 1971 Chevy Impala.

E

very superhero has two sides to their personality. Batman is a suave millionaire playboy when he’s not fighting crime.

Superman is a clumsy, mild mannered reporter when he’s not saving the world. And when Denver Broncos All-Pro linebacker Von Miller isn’t crushing NFL quarterbacks, you will likely find him wearing one of the many cowboy hats in his extensive collection or helping Denver’s less fortunate youth get eye exams and glasses through his organizations (Vonmiller.org). Although Von doesn’t have a secret identity like Batman and Superman do, he does have a name for the two sides of his personality: A- and B-Mode.

A-Mode is the focused, aggressive, and dynamic side of Von you see wreaking havoc on opposing teams every Sunday. This side of him is responsible for his many near-superhuman feats on the football field, from leading the NCAA in sacks at Texas A&M to being a multiple-time NFL Pro-Bowl veteran. Fueled by his A-Mode side, Von became the 2nd overall pick in the 2011 draft, where legendary quarterback and Broncos executive vice-president John Elway declared him a once-in-a-decade talent.

B-Mode is the chill, relaxed, funny side of Von that his friends and family spend time with off the field. Teammates see this side of Von when he’s cracking jokes and lightening the mood in the training room. Reporters get a glimpse of B-Mode whenever he dons a particularly furry hat for some of his post-game interviews. The A-and B-Modes of Von’s personality are also reflected in his two favorite cars in his collection: his murdered-out, widebody 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS and his futuristic, two-toned metallic grey 2015 BMW i8.

“When I came out for the draft in 2011,” Von recalls. “The Transformers movie was out, and the Camaro was the hottest thing. But I wanted mine to be different, and that’s why I took the route that I did. The vision that I had when I started customizing it was The Batmobile.” With its aggressive stance and menacing looks, the Camaro looks like it drove right out of the pages of the DC superhero’s comic book. Sharp, angular batsymbols adorn the car in multiple areas - from the front grill to the glove compartment and even on the stitching on the headrests of both front seats.

To make his Camaro stand out even more from the crowd, Von chose a to go with a TS Designs widebody kit created by “Widebody King” Topo to envelope his set of gigantic 24” satin black Forgiatos. “I think I can fit my whole

family inside those back wheels,” Von jokes. Four 12” JL Audio subwoofers powered by a 4,000W amp help put Von in A-Mode on the way to games, with the right mood music, and later help him relax and go back into B-Mode afterwards.

Von’s attention to detail extends to the bluetinged LED lighting that encircles the headlights and foglights to the interior lighting system that

adjusts to fit whatever mood he’s in. He finished the exterior transformation off with an ACS Composite TL1 hood insert and a stealthy gloss black finish from Duran’s Quality Painting in Baldwin Park, CA.

When pressed to name his single favorite thing about the Camaro, it all comes down to the sound and fury of that engine. Already equipped

with a potent V8 from the factory, Von chose a Vortech centrifugal supercharger to boost the muscle car’s power to even higher levels. The rumble of the Borla Exhaust system coupled with the whine of the supercharger’s belt system creates a primal roar that announces his arrival wherever he goes. “When I’m in my Camaro, it’s definitely A-Mode. It’s super-fast and super-loud.

There ain’t no sneaking around in that thing.”

But it’s no fun if you have to be in A-Mode 100% of the time. When it’s time to relax and decompress, Von hits the B-Mode button to his personality and drives his 2015 BMW i8. Not wanting to abandon speed and power completely,

Von chose a ride that can be the most civilized, fuel-efficient and environmentally conscious car on the road one minute, and a true cutting-edge, high-tech performance vehicle the next. Or as Von puts it, “I like it because you can look very, very sexy driving the car and at the same time, you’re saving the earth.” Choosing the i8 was no spur-of-the-moment decision for him. In 2011, at the same time he was garnering Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and making his first major purchase with the Camaro, he had his eye on the futuristic BMW that was at the time only a concept car he had seen on the show car circuit.

But he knew that if and when it ever went on sale to the public, he would get one.

Ultimately, Von loves how different his Camaro and i8 are from each other, and how perfectly each car fits the different aspects of his personality. “The Camaro is supercharged, high-performance and crazy and the i8 is quiet, 52 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015

sleek and smooth. They’re like left and right.

There really is no middle.” As fall approaches and the NFL season begins, Von starts flipping that switch once again from off-season to on, and goes back into A-Mode to become the boogeyman to opposing quarterbacks just as Batman is to the criminals of Gotham City. But when asked about what’s next in terms of what he plans to do with his cars and what he plans to do in his NFL career, Von simply smiles and says, “The best is yet to come.”

A

s one of the premier defensive players in the league, All-Pro cornerback Patrick Peterson has played his entire stellar NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals. However, back at his home in Mesa, Arizona, he has his own team that plays for him: a collection of custom cars with as many unique personalities as a group of Autobots in a Transformers movie. Open up Patrick’s garage, and it is quickly evident he is more than just another car guy. He is an absolute fanatic, especially when it comes to classic Chevys.

Patrick showed DUB some of his favorite American classics in his collection and also gave a peek at the international players on his team, his Yamaha Banshee ATV and Ferrari 458 hardtop convertible.

The fastest, most athletic kid on the block for as long as he can remember, Patrick also developed his love for fast cars at a young age.

After watching one of his dad’s close friends build up a 1971 Chevrolet Nova over the course of seven years and seeing the joy it brought both during and after the build up, Patrick’s love for big, bad classic Chevys was cemented. He recalls looking back at that car and thinking, “I was only 8 or 9 when he started working on it.

The way it came out, every specific detail was how he wanted it and where he wanted it. It was unbelievable.” Perhaps also shaping Patrick’s taste in cars were his experiences with the first car he had ever owned as a teenager, a purple 2001 Dodge Intrepid his dad had gotten him when he was in 11th grade. “Oh, man, it was a lemon. I could only drive it about seven to ten minutes before it had to cool off,” Patrick laughs.

“I really hated that car.” Strangely, there are currently no Dodges in Patrick’s stable.

But those fond memories he has of the ’71 Nova are still with him to this day. In recent years, Patrick even asked his dad’s friend if he could buy it, but was turned down for sentimental reasons.

However, this inspired Patrick to build his own army of American muscle. With the help of Kandy Shop Creations in Mesa, Arizona, his goal was to put the same kind of detail and personal

touch on each of his cars that the ’71 Nova had.

One of the most prized cars in Patrick’s collection is his orange 1973 Camaro RS. Nicknaming it “Molly,” the Camaro features a rebuilt small-block 350, a Posi Rear End, and Wilwood Disk Brakes.

427 motor that channels 700 hp to the 4L80E automatic transmission. Needless to say, Herbie is no Love Bug. Watching over the group is “Gramps,” his candy red 1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne, which sports a 350 small-block engine, custom P2 gauges, but also still has the original airconditioning system from the factory. “It’s a very, very smooth car. [It’s] my winter car that I can cruise in anywhere.”

Patrick’s cars aren’t just for show and he often likes to enjoy the experience of being behind the wheel of a classic. Everyone’s heads automatically turn when Patrick drives one of his babies down the streets of Mesa. But his collection is more than just ’60s and ’70s classics.

He also has some newer Chevys in his collection.

One of his “new” classics is his 2001 Camaro SS Dale Earnhardt Intimdator Edition. Patrick notes how one-of-kind it is and explains that there were only 67 of this edition ever made. Dale, Sr., who hand-signed the dashes of his Intimdator Editions had passed away during its production

run, but Patrick had struck up a friendship with Dale, Jr., who did him the honor of signing the dash of his black ’01 SS.

One of the rowdy upstarts in his stable is his black 2013 COPO Camaro. A GM factory-built drag car, the ’13 Camaro has a stripped out interior with no sound deadening, no back seats and a bulging hood to signal loud and clear that this is no normal streetcar. It sports a monster LS7-based 427 that dynoed at 675 horsepower at the rear wheels and rear tire-vaporizing abilities at the drop of a hat.

Dubbed on Chevrolet’s website as “King of the Quarter Mile,” the COPO is another limited edition ride, with Patrick owning car number 30 of the 69 built that year. Although it is technically a newschool car, it has an old-school soul and honors the original ZL-1 COPO Camaro from 1969.

Amongst all the American classics in Patrick’s collection stand out a Japanese import and an Italian exotic. The little man in his collection is his Yamaha Banshee, customized by his go-to shop, Kandy Shop Creations. Coated in custom Kandy red paint with silver spun leaf, the quad is propelled by a 120-hp 350cc 2-stroke motor bored and stoked to 470cc. The number motifs on the Banshee symbolize the 44 punt returns from Peterson’s rookie seasons. Patrick’s Ferrari 458 is also a symbol of how he fulfilled his childhood dream of being in the NFL. He recalls his childhood days of seeing a Ferrari on the exotic car lot his dad worked on, and dreaming that he would one day own one. “Growing up,” Patrick said, “if you had a Ferrari, it meant that you had made it!”

But as jaw-dropping as his newer rides are, the heart and soul of Patrick’s collection will always be his old Chevys. Even as a young 25-yearold player in the prime of his NFL career, he has an old soul when it comes to cars. “You’ve got to have a lot of patience with classic cars. They sometimes break down and you have to troubleshoot what’s wrong with them. And a lot of young guys my age don’t have the kind of patience, but you get out what you put into it.” As Patrick slowly surveys all the cars in his stable, from Molly to the Banshee, he feels that same sense of joy that he felt gazing at that old ’71 Nova back in his childhood days. “When it comes to customizing cars, it’s always special when it’s your own ideas and it’s something you came up with sitting on your car.

There’s just nothing better.”

F

or Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus football is life, but life isn’t football. The 25-year-old NFL player from Birmingham, AL loves what he does, but doesn’t let it consume his entire life. While most players are already thinking about their goals for the next season after their last game, Dareus likes to

take a break from football during the off-season to enjoy the finer things in life. It isn’t until he starts training camp that he starts to mentally prepare for the upcoming season and strategize his plan for the new season.

“I spend time with my family, improve my golf game and just chill out during the offseason,” he explains. “I like to take my mind away from the game for a while and then come back and be all in. I like to participate in other things that keep my mind at ease and then when training camp comes, I’m setting my goals and

what I plan to achieve on the field. Just being with my team and listening to their goals helps me figure out what I need to do, so that I can help them achieve what they’re trying to do for the season.”

One of the things that keeps Dareus’ mind off of football during the off-season is his Ferrari F430, or “Fur-rari” as he calls it because of its unique red velvet wrap that’s soft to the touch and a sight to behold up close in person. The Ferrari was his first big purchase after he was picked third overall in the 2011 NFL Draft. He wanted something fast, but after a couple of years, he grew old with it.

Debating if he should trade it in for a new ride, Dareus instead hooked up with the guys over at Young Money Motors to makeover the F430. “I wanted something different, but really

wasn’t feeling having to buy a new car, so after brainstorming for a couple of months and getting things together, the end result is the ‘Fur-rari,’” he says. “The Ferrari was originally red and I wanted to change the color, but didn’t want any ordinary paint job. After looking online for different wraps, we came across the velvet and even though it was kind of a stretch, we went for it.”

The velvet exterior is complemented by a carbon top and a reflector that adorns the front of the Ferrari and lights up at night, but besides the wrap, it’s the Savini Wheels that Dareus really loves. “They remind me of gold wheels that I used to love as a kid,” he explains. “Once the shop showed them to me, I knew I wanted them for the Ferrari. They made me think of the older style rims I used to love, but with a new twist to it. They just look like they’re made for speed and they really hold it down on the Ferrari.” Inside there’s a custom JL Audio system controlled by an iPad mini and a customized driver’s seat to accommodate Dareus’ burly frame.

Marcell’s Ferrari features a velvet wrap, carbon fiber top and inserts and sits on 20” Savini Diamond Veneto wheels wrapped in Pirelli PZero tires.

Because of its beg-to-be-felt exterior, people are always running their hands on the velvet wrap – something that bothered Dareus at first, but has now come to expect when people don’t believe him when he tells them it’s velvet.

“People always think it’s a matte or flat red and are always thinking I’m lying when I tell them that it’s velvet. This only makes them want to touch it, so I’m used to it now. I love how it’s something totally different and really throws people off.”

As one of Dareus’ favorite rides in his stable, he takes it everywhere he goes, shipping it to various parts of the country to enjoy. “I drive it like it’s a Toyota,” he laughs. “I really love how it drives and don’t mind taking it out all the time. It’s fun to be in and looks damn good, too.” He’ll usually drive it in Buffalo, NY when the weather is nice and then ship it back home to Birmingham, AL when it starts to snow. It’s had a few appearances in Los Angeles to star in music videos, in addition to a stint at last year’s Pro Bowl in Arizona.

Besides his Ferrari, Dareus drives around Buffalo in his Chevy 3500 Dually, and on occasion will take out his other classic rides, including a 1957 Chevy Apache and 1968 Chevy Impala. “I like original old schools,” he says. “I like to keep them vintage, but add a few modern amenities to them like power windows and a sound system. Like the Ferrari, I like to drive them as much as I can, especially in the offseason when I have more time.”

Inside we find a custom driver’s seat, custom console with iPad mini and a custom sub enclosure for the (2) 6” JL Audio subwoofers. There’s also a JL Audio HD amp and Alpine component speakers.

At the time we spoke to Dareus, the Pro Bowler was barely getting ready for training camp and he was soaking in as much personal time as possible. And even though his goals for the season were still up in the air, there was one thing he knew he was striving for – to make it in the Football Hall of Fame. “It’s the only goal I always have for myself,” he says. “Every day I’m working for that goal. I’m focusing on my body and really doing what feels right. It’s how I better myself each season and work toward achieving my ultimate goal.”

C

liff Avril has seen it all in his NFL career.

He is the only man to go from being on a winless team to becoming a Super Bowl Champion. A native Floridian who takes great pride in his Haitian heritage, the standout defensive end has worked his way up the ranks to become one of the cornerstones of the Seattle Seahawks’ dominant defense. Fresh off signing a new 4-year deal with the perennial powerhouse Seahawks, Avril now seeks to help his team return to the Super Bowl once again to avenge last season’s razor-close loss to the New England Patriots. As he prepares himself for the 2015 season, Cliff took time to talk to DUB about his career and the passion for cars he has had since riding in his father’s head-turning T-top Camaro back in the ’90s.

“In the Haitian community, my dad was that guy,” Avril recalls. “He always had a sweet car.

Chrome wheels on it and the whole nine. Growing up seeing that, it was just cool to me.” Later, as a teenager when the original “The Fast and the Furious” movie was released, Avril and his friends would go to local car shows to check out the lowered Civics and twin-turbo Supras that dominated the import scene. “As soon as I got my first car - a Mazda Protégé - I saved up enough money to put some 17s on it. Got it lowered, added exhaust tips… Haha, I thought I was doing my thing on it.”

After high school, Cliff would go on to play football at Purdue and was eventually drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2008. But realizing his dream turned out to be far different than he thought it would be. During his rookie year, his Lion team became infamous for becoming the first 0-16 team in NFL history. Because he was so focused on just trying to crack the starting lineup and show what he could do on the field, the magnitude of the team’s struggles did not fully register with him at the time. It wasn’t until the offseason, when people would approach him about being a pro football player did it dawn on him. Now he looks back and laughs at how awkward those conversations were. “I couldn’t really tell them I played for the Lions, which is crazy, to be embarrassed to tell people you play for an NFL team.”

It was not all bad news, though. Being an NFL player also meant he was finally able to buy the kinds of cars he wanted. No longer the import fanatic of his early teen years, he bought his firstever new car, a Cadillac Escalade. Later he would add a BMW M6 to feed his thirst for speed that remained from his days as a “Fast and Furious” fan.

All of Cliff’s struggles and hard work finally paid off when he completed his contract with the Lions and signed with the Seattle Seahawks, immediately helping to transform them into one of the elite teams in the league. And no better exclamation point could be put on that rise to greatness than when Cliff became one of the heroes of Super Bowl XLVIII. By scoring a safety 12 seconds into the game and later forcing an interception from future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, he had etched a name for himself in the record books.

And of course, with the notoriety that came with being a Super Bowl Champ also came the opportunity to upgrade his car collection. “I had to get something special to get rid of my baby [the Escalade] and there’s no better SUV to get than the G.” Wrapped satin black and rolling on custom black chrome Forgiatos, Cliff’s 2014 Mercedes G63 AMG sports a Brabus front bumper and calipers custom-plated in real gold with “XLVIII” etched underneath the AMG logo.

“That’s my grind car. It fits what I’m about to do when I drive to practice each day.”

When talking about his 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, Cliff explains how many players in the league feel every man should own at least one old-school American muscle car. “I just got the SS this year. It’s my first old school. Took two years to build it. I wanted the looks, but not the headaches of having an old school so everything other than the shell is brand new.”

Like his G-Wagon, the SS sports Forgiatos, (22s in the front and 24s in the rear). Featuring the LS3 engine found in today’s Camaro SS and a custom suede interior, Cliff’s Chevelle was dynoed at more than 475 horses to the wheels. “She’s a beast,” Cliff said with a smile. “She brings me back to my Fast and Furious days and those days as a kid when you play with souped up Hot Wheels toy cars.”

The car in Cliff’s stable that he considers “his baby” is his 2013 Ferrari 458 Spyder. “I had a BMW M6 and I needed to find a sports car to top that. And one that I could fit in since I’m 6’3”, 260 lbs.” Cliff remembers the moment he decided to buy it earlier this year. “I’m going to the Super Bowl again. Why not?” Keeping with the theme of all Cliff’s cars, his black Spyder has satin black wheels and satin black wrapped roof. “You can’t ride around anywhere without someone giving you a thumbs up and trying to look inside to see who you are.” When reminiscing how hard his mother and father had to work at multiple jobs to make life easier for Cliff and his family, he thanks them for instilling that same work ethic that helped get him to where he is today. But that’s not all that was instilled in him. Just like his dad was back in the day with his tricked-out Camaro riding on chrome, Cliff is now “that guy” in the neighborhood, with the rides people can’t help but break their necks trying to see.

he world of custom PC building and modding mirrors that of custom car building in many ways. You obsess over which parts to pick, what you need to make it all work together and, of course, how it’s all going to look. We set out for an answer to the question: if DUB were to design and build a PC, what would it look like?

We’re not the first to realize the similarities between the custom PC world and custom cars. Wallace Santos came from the car tuning scene before founding Maingear in 2002. His automotive roots are clear when you browse the list of products with names such as “Potenza,” “Drift,” and “Torq.” Dig deeper and the influence is more substantial. The custom paint jobs found on their high-end builds are automotive grade, using automotive paints applied in-house in their paint booth.

Each machine is built by hand with meticulous attention to the smallest details. Maingear specializes in the top end of the PC spectrum, where spending an extra $500 to get 10 more frames per second in Battlefield: Hardline is a justifiable purchase. You can see why Maingear would be a perfect source for a monster PC to carry a DUB Edition badge.

chrome connectors. The black and red theme is finished off with tasteful red LED interior lighting that seems appropriately angry for how much power is pent up in this box.

In our performance testing, we can sum it up like this: It handles any game published prior to 2013 with max settings in 4k resolution without even trying, and most recently released games at around 60 fps. We paired

it up with a 32” BenQ BL-Series 4k IPS display, and we got over 180 frames per second on (the office favorite) Counter Strike: Global Offensive, 70 fps on Battlefield 4 and over 60 fps on GTA V - all on maximum quality settings at 3840x2160 (4k). That’s quite an achievement and it’s nice to know that you’ve got a PC that’s fairly future-proof.

We’ve established it can play, but can it do double-duty as a workhorse? Without a doubt. We’ve compared it to a closely comparable 8-core current generation MacPro and in most cases, the Maingear comes out ahead. In Adobe Premiere and After Effects render times and everyday Photoshop tasks, the Maingear either matched or had a second or two over the Mac. Hardcore PCs, like serious car tuning, isn’t for everyone. Prepare to drop some coin to get into a rig like this. But it’s nice to know that when you’re ready to spend a couple thousand on a starter or over $7k on something configured like the DUB Edition, you can get more than your money’s worth from Maingear.

MIAMI-BASED STREET ARTIST JONA CERWINSKE doesn’t just leave his mark on canvases and murals, but instead creates rolling masterpieces in the cars he inks using oil markers and metallic pens. He’s worked his artistic magic on Lenny Kravitz’s mint 1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville and the now famed “Sharpie Gallardo” that he did back in 2007. C

lassic American muscle cars are known for their sharp and aggressive exteriors, nostalgic charms and highdisplacement engines that roar to life when you step on the gas. Whether it’s the first generation from the early-’70s to the current 3rd generation model, the Dodge Challenger is one such muscle car that exudes its presence on the road regardless if it’s modified or not. But automotive enthusiast Dylan Coleman’s Challenger is just more than just a regular custom – it’s a beast that goes by the nickname #ProjectHulk for its green exterior and outrageous body cladding that make it worthy of it’s Marvel superhero moniker.

As soon as Coleman bought the 2015 fully loaded Dodge Challenger Scat Pack back in January of this year, he knew he wanted to transform it into something what was anything but normal. “I decided to choose the original 1970’s Sublime Green paint job for this monstrous build,” he describes. “After photoshopping a rendering of the car, there was no better name for this mean green machine than #ProjectHulk.”

But Coleman didn’t just want regular runof-the-mill mods for his build and had bigger aspirations for his ride, including owning the first 2015 Challenger in the U.S. to have the Liberty Walk treatment. Thanks to his relationship with LTMW owner Long Tran

(who is close acquaintances with Liberty Walk’s owner Kato), he was able to secure the first kit on pre-order to the States.

Since the kit wasn’t designed for the minor revamps of the 2015 Challenger, a few modifications had to be made by Tran and his crew, which wasn’t a problem for the team given they’ve modified Liberty Walk kits for a number of vehicles, including Kato’s own GT-R and Ferrari (which were featured back in Issue 88). “I have loved the exaggerated bolt-on look of these kits since I first laid eyes on them a couple years ago,” Coleman says. “I wanted to have a completely unique car with heavy JDM/Euro/ USDM influences.”

So with that in mind, he decided to go with an Air Lift Company air suspension and Rotiform three-piece forged wheels to keep his love for stanced rides, while having the luxury to control the height at a touch of a button. He then worked with LTMW to fabricate the first-ever carbon fiber roof for the latest iteration of the Challenger. In addition, they fabricated a carbon fiber front splitter and carbon fiber side splitters to

match. Next, were the Recaro Seats, which he had custom upholstered with leather and Alcantara suede finished with Sublime Green stitching since Coleman wanted to have a racecar feel, with the luxury comforts of a European car. Out back, there’s a custom Sublime Green roll cage with a custom rear delete that has been upholstered in full black Alcantara. To continue the color scheme inside, he decided to reupholster the door panels, armrest and shift boot accordingly. And finishing it all off is a Hurst Short shifter and Mopar hood pins to “give back to the USDM diehards,” he mentions.

Finally in March of 2015, #ProjectHulk made its debut at the DUB Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Kato of Liberty Walk was at the unveiling and signed the inside of his hood, making the build that much more special to him. “After owning the car for half a year and traveling around the state to shows, I can say that it turned out better than I could’ve ever imagined.

It completely redefined the way I looked at American Muscle and hope that others start to use similar aspects in their future builds!”

I

f you’re a fan of reality TV then you’re already familiar with VH1’s hit show “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood.” But for those not familiar with hip-hop’s next “it” girl, consider this feature an introduction because you’re about to hear more from the bold and talented Hazel-E in the near future.

The first season of the West Coast spin off of the popular New York Series was partly due in part to Hazel-E, a celebrity publicist-turnedrapper, who had the right connections to help bring the show to Tinseltown. She pitched the show to pop singer Teairra Mari (who was on the original “Love & Hip Hop”), and while she was helping put the cast together, she decided to include herself in the credits. “Originally, I wasn’t going to be on the show, but thought, ‘Why not take the opportunity?’ she explains, “Why would I build it and not be a part of it…the rest is history and now we’re on Season 2 of the show.”

Hazel-E is all about making her own opportunities, which is what she attributes to her current success. With music in her blood, she decided to put aside her musical aspirations while she rose to the top in the PR industry and became the go-to girl for the hottest parties and events, as well as built the careers of some of the biggest celebrities like Gnarles Barkley (aka Cee Lo Green) and Ne-Yo. “It actually worked to my advantage a little bit because I then got to work behind the scenes of hip-hop before I jumped into it,” she explains. But after she conquered that goal, she felt it was time to pursue a music career after British actor Idris Elba, aka DJ Driis overseas, produced her first mixtape “Shoe Fetish” in 2009.

“I threw a Halloween party for him and he asked me what I wanted to do and I told him music. He took me on and led off with my first single “Valley Girl” with Meagan Good and her sister and that launched Hazel-E’s music career.”

She was then signed to Swisha House Records and dubbed the official “Pop Princess” of their camp and went back to her hometown of Houston, where she learned the hip-hop ropes, honing in on her craft and getting used to owning the stage at various gigs and performances in the city. “That year was my artist development training,” she says, “it’s a time when I got everything about being an artist under my belt.”

As for her artistry, Hazel-E isn’t trying to be the next Beyonce or Nicki Minaj and is instead trying to create a name for herself as a “hip-pop” artist. “I loved what Fergie did when she did ‘Fergalicious’ and what Gwen Stefani has been doing, but also still love the work of females artists like Lil Kim, who paved the way for everyone else,” she describes. “I’m more about pop rapping. I’m not a chick from the hood and didn’t grow up in the streets, so I developed my own sound with ‘Valley Girl,’ poppin’ my collar and creating stuntin’ music.”

Back in February, she released a music video for her song “Everything,” which received 3.2 million views in 48 hours on Grammy Sunday.

“The audience is definitely paying attention,” she adds. She’ll also release more music as Season 2 of her show progresses, cumulating to a huge musical reveal by the end of season’s finale.

“This season, you’ll see that I got my stuff together,” she describes. “Season 1 was rocky and you’re going to see me boss up. I went from 118 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015

after she was inspired by YG’s song “Who Do You Love” that referred back to his red Panamera. “I loved the Maserati and had a huge debate whether I should keep it or not,” she says. “I liked how it went really fast and those Asanti rims were epic.

But in the end, I thought it was too sporty for me, which is why I went with the Panamera. But it’s hot and would be a great accessory.”

As for her Panamera, it has all the bells and whistles and is a “bossy car for an upcoming star.” She’s already added her Hazel-E style to it with a “Frozen Grey” wrap, tinted windows and some “cute”gloss black powder coated rims - all done by done by Ezie Wraps in North Hollywood, CA. “I tricked it out so that it’s more Hazel, so it’s moving out of the house, to a studio loft on Sunset and then a huge house in the Hollywood Hills. I also upgraded rides and people are just taking me seriously in the music game now after three mixtapes. You’ll also see me as a businesswoman and will have everything ‘Hazel-E’ coming out this season. I’m just getting with my movement; not going to stop and just keep on going.”

someday. “Anytime I set goals I achieve them,” she confidently admits. “I forecasted that I’d be the target of paparazzi, and now I have TMZ following me around almost every day. My goals manifest in my mind and then I put them into motion to make them happen. After Season 2 of the show, doors will open even further for me and I’m ready to see what this industry is going to let me take. And if it doesn’t, I’m going to take it anyways.”

W

hen your husband is one of the most well known customizers in Texas, your ride is never ordinary. Shaun Freilich of Complete Customs always tricks out some of the baddest rides we’ve seen and featured and his wife Courtney happily reaps the benefits with her own ride – a Cadillac XTS.

“I’ve always liked Cadillacs, and we usually always have one in our personal collection,” 132 | DUB MAGAZINE 2015

Courtney reveals. ‘I just had a baby when this model came out, so I thought it was perfect since it was not as small as the CTS I had been driving and not as large as an SUV I wasn’t ready to step into for everyday driving.”

Already known for custom truck and Jeep builds, the XTS was a chance to show that the shop could do more than just lifted vehicles and really wanted to make their presence known

in the luxury car market. “We saw a concept XTS and fell in love with it, so we designed the car around that. It came out very close to the rendering,” she describes.

“I built this car for my lovely wife due to the fact that I’m always building cool rides for myself and clients so I wanted her to have that feeling that my clients and myself get when we see the finished product,” Shaun mentions. “That’s what keeps me pushing in this crazy industry is making people happy when they see their car or truck completed!

To set the build in motion, Shaun reached out to his massive database of connections to get the parts needed to make it a stunner, fit for everyday use yet accentuated in extra style. controlled by AccuAir ensures a smooth commute and a menacing stance when parked. Since the already luxurious interior was up to par for Courtney, the guys at the shop simply added an Ultrasuede headliner. But, of course, the part of the build Courtney loves the most are the 22” custom wheels designed by Shaun (and manufactured by Rennen), which really make the exterior pop.

“I’m constantly getting compliments on the wheels. I also love my built-in radar by Escort and my sound system - I love it all!” she admits. “The car always gets a lot of attention and I can never get gas in peace. We partially wrapped the hood and embossed our logo into it and people always want to touch it. “

With two months to complete before it was unveiled at the 2014 SEMA Show, the project was a straightforward build, with the only real challenge was getting the suspension perfect.

“The air ride kit isn’t something you could just purchase off the shelf,” Shaun says. “We had some issues getting it right, but once we figured it out, it has been an amazing car! It is in a different field than the others considering most of our builds are big lifted trucks or jeeps. I love that we are able to get in and go and not have to worry about parking garages.”

The “3000” in Gumball 3000 may represent the rally’s distance in miles, but you really should think of it as a 3,000-magnitude shockwave to your mind, body and soul. This is rock star-level partying disguised as a motor rally.

I

t’s the last day of May, but the first day back to regular life after completing the Gumball 3000, a debaucherous 3,000-mile, nine-day car rally through six countries and two continents.

I am taxiing to my gate at LAX after completing the shortest flight from Las Vegas I have ever experienced - at least the shortest as far as my consciousness goes. During most of the flight I was unconscious, as my physiology fought for every minute of rest it could get. Touchdown in LA signals the welcome end to more than a week of sleep deprivation intense enough to drive a human being into a grizzly bear’s hibernation pattern.

On the Gumball 3000, you’re lucky if you can get more than three hours of shut-eye per night.

That’s enough time for maybe one dream cycle, and by the rally’s third day, you begin to dream of sleeping more often.

Does the Gumball 3000 sound grim and awful to you already? Well, it’s not. In spite of the rally’s occasional tendency to be a logistical nightmare, it will be one of those experiences I reflect upon as my life force disappears into my death bed’s sheets. If human memory had a limit and I had to wipe my biological hard drive of both times I’ve partied at the Playboy Mansion in order to make room for Gumball memories, it would be an easy decision for me; I’d say “byebye” to those Playboy parties.

Without hesitation I declare the 2015 “Stockholm to Vegas” Gumball rally the best experience of my life.

Who needs to wait 60 to 70 years to gather a collection of wicked stories that will prove to your grandkids you were once cool? The Gumball experience can give you 20 or 30 of them way before you’re hit old age. Because of this, I think the Gumball 3000 is the closest I’ve gotten to discovering the fountain of youth.

I participated in this year’s Gumball rally with the AnastasiaDate.com and AsianDate.com team, which was represented by four gorgeous female members of both sites - a cast of roughly 40 crazy characters made up of journalists, event staff and PR folk, and a pair of 1969 Camaro Z28s. Despite the classic Camaros sharing the rally with machinery such as a Porsche 918 threesome, a Koenigsegg Agera R driven by Lewis Hamilton, and a Lamborghini LM002 with a V12 engine wail reminiscent of a firing squad performing its public execution symphony at the Sydney Opera House, the AnastasiaDate.com and AsianDate.com Camaros were undeniable standouts. People on both continents loved how relatable the cars were.

“Those [Camaros] were so popular, and so many people related to them on this journey,” team mechanic Steve Elstins says. Despite the litany of problems the Camaros presented throughout the 3,000 miles - from blown distributors to blown head gaskets - Steve would still recommend a classic muscle car for those who want to stand out at future Gumball rallies.

“If you want to have some attention and some notoriety, and you’re willing to take the risk ‘cause it’s very risky - I’d go with an old muscle car. They’re cool,” Elstins adds.

Gumball 3000 founder Maximillion Cooper has driven all sorts of cars in the 17 Gumball rallies he’s organized since the inaugural one in 1999. I asked him to tell me about his favorite rally and the car he drove in it.

“My favorite rally was 2008 when we started in San Francisco and we finished in Beijing at the Olympics. That year I drove my Jaguar XJ220-S, and I still have that car, and it’s one of my favorite cars - it’s one of only six all-carbon versions. Doing the rally in that that year was pretty special.”

If I were able to pick a car to run in the Gumball, I’d likely go for a ’90’s hypercar like the XJ220-S. Instead, I had the opportunity to drive the yellow AnastasiaDate.com Camaro Z28 on the German Autobahn during the Copenhagento-Amsterdam leg of the rally. I’m a fan of classic American muscle, but I’m not a fanatic, so driving

an old Camaro an ocean away from its homeland was just what I needed to turn up the dial on my classic car enthusiasm. I had always thought my first time driving on the Autobahn would be in a car adorned with a roundel, four rings or a threepointed star…certainly not a bow tie-branded American muscle car, sporting a California license plate stamped “DATING 1.”

AnastasiaDate.com and AsianDate.com Chief Marketing Officer, Anthony Volpe chose to enter the pair of Camaros into the rally to make his brands stand out. Among the Gumball entrants, Volpe certainly achieved his goal. During the halted traffic I encountered on the Autobahn, the car stood out even more. Its cylinders fired insults off neighboring commuter pods like Andrew Dice Clay blasting “OH!” inside a funeral parlor.

The Daily Mail called it “Debauchery at 37,000ft.” That’s a good title, but to be more accurate, the debauchery also occurred from 0 36,999 feet and from 36,999 to 0 feet.

Even though I am a car enthusiast among car enthusiasts, I will admit the part of the Gumball I was most eager for was Gumball Air. I had seen photos and read (even edited) stories about it from previous rallies. Going into this, I knew I couldn’t sleep during the flight, a) because I didn’t want to miss out on any partying, and b) because if I did fall asleep, I’d risk getting teabagged, or getting a penis drawn on my face. And if those risks weren’t enough to keep me awake, there was always this quote from my colleague Christian Moe that kept haunting me: “The only thing worse than getting a d**k drawn on your face is finding out it was traced.”

Dirty Sanchez star Matthew Pritchard is known for being one of the wilder Gumballers, and 2015 marks only his second time on Gumball Air. During last year’s rally he climbed through the Gumball Air flight cabin in a Speedo. This year he went streaking through it naked.

As this was happening I thought to myself, “Here’s why the rest of the world hates America,” but I wasn’t ashamed. I was proud of the Camaro’s shock and awe. Among all those boring Euro-boxes, the Camaro provided some necessary contrast on that halted Autobahn. While I still would have preferred to be driving Max’s 1993 TWR XJ220-S, the way that Camaro’s exhaust burble middle-fingered Europe was an experience I’d get nowhere else. Muscle cars are at least 27% cooler outside the United States.

Piloting a yellow American muscle machine in a sea of gray conventionalism was just one of Gumball’s innumerable WTF moments. Those WTF moments would reach their greatest frequency during Gumball Air.

“I didn’t even plan to do it naked, but it just f*ckin’ happened. I don’t know. The excitement and everything, naked, f*ckin’ hell. Then I gave Bun B a lap dance while he was sleeping. My balls were in his face. Then I peed all over Dolph Lundgren’s feet. The secret of it is don’t take Xanax when you’re a British person and you’ve never had it before, and then you start drinking … because I blacked out.” We shared a laugh at that one. “Next year, as far as topping what I’ve done this year. I’m sure I’ll think of something. I’ve got a good imagination.”

Next year’s rally will go from Dublin to Istanbul, which means there will be no lengthy trans-ocean flight for Pritchard to outdo himself.

Nevertheless, Gumball is about bringing a party to any corner of the world. I’m sure next year will present many opportunities for unforgettable debauchery, even during a blackout.

worked with Tadeo and the rest of the MC Customs crew before, he pretty much gave them free reign on the customization. All that was asked of Tadeo was that he go “all out” and create a promotional truck that would never go unnoticed.

To help create a promotional vehicle for the company, Reyes turned to his long-time car guy Jhulio Tadeo of MC Customs to trick out a Ford F-250. “It was actually my idea that the truck be themed for Siete Music,” Tadeo confirms. “I figured at some point he could incorporate the truck in one of his music videos and Reyes loved the idea, so we went for it.”

And that’s exactly what he delivered Reyes with the Ford F-250 that’s fitted with a 6” ICON Vehicle Dynamics lift kit so that it stands above every other ride on the street and a custom grille and exterior badging that designate that it’s an official “Siete Music” Edition vehicle. Its dominant presence comes via a set of 22” Fuel Off-Road Wheels in a white and black finish and the aggressive Fuel Gripper M/T tires; Fab Fours front and rear bumpers that provide some menacing styling cues; a train horn that could be heard for miles and miles away; and plenty of LED lighting that’ll light up any dark path.

To make sure everything would conquer the various terrains of the Dominican Republic and to start promotions for the label in Miami, Tadeo created a special video that showcases the beauty and brawns of this build, complete with one of Reyes’ Siete Music songs in the background. “I had a lot of fun designing and building this one,” he says. “It’s always a good time doing work for Jose and the Siete Music clan. They love what they do just as much as I do, and this truck is a testament to both!”

allas has been the biggest stop on the Monster Energy DUB Show Tour for the past few years and it is continuing to thrive! We teamed up with Monster Energy and 97.9 The Beat to provide the city a platform to showcase the best custom cars, trucks and bikes that Texas and the surrounding areas had to offer as well as an unforgettable concert. The Dallas Convention Center could barely contain over 30,000 attendees!

The Monster Energy girls signed autographs and took pictures with eager fans and the Monster Energy team provided their different flavors, including the new DUB Edition Punch throughout the day! The LFTD & LVLD Off-Road Showcase was also our biggest one yet and displayed some of the hottest custom trucks, Jeeps, and SUVs in the country. People were also able to try out and see our new DUB Developed

by Meguiar’s car care products and hear the thumping bass that the DUB Edition Audio by Jensen provides in person.

The concert stage was one of our best yet, with a whopping 21 artists representing on the main stage! It was seriously non-stop music all day, with Blazer, Young West Tantrum, Bentley Green, ZRO, Fat Pimp, August Alsina, Kevin Gates, DSR and Young Nation revving up the crowd with some intoxicating energy. Slim Thug and B-Hamp soak up the crowd’s electricity during their banging performances, before Paul Wall, Dorrough Music, Mike Jones and Future shut it down, dropping fan favorites and a few new joints. We can’t wait to see next year’s lineup!
