Who killed baby Noleen?
Plea to solve 1973 murder A FRESH appeal has been issued for information related to the 47-year-old murder of baby Noleen Murphy. On April 4, 1973, the body of a baby girl was discovered in a car park in Dun Laoghaire. It’s believed that baby Noleen died within 24 hours of being born. Following a post-mortem,
gardaí began a murder investigation, whcih remains live. A 2007 inquest into the baby’s death was conducted by Dublin County Coroner’s Court, and it formally identified Cynthia Owen (nee Murphy) as her mother. At the time she gave birth, Ms Owen was only 11 years old.
At this point, all available lines of inquiry have been exhausted, gardaí said. “Over the years since 1973 baby Noleen’s murder and related matters have been the subject of sustained garda investigation. Continued on next page
