Once upon a time, in the land of eternal light and boundless love called Kashmir, lived the children of Shiva.

Shiva was no ordinary God. He was the manifestation of ultimate reality, the individual soul.

You may ask, “What does Shiva have to do with Kashmir?” Well, the kahani goes...

There was a time when Kashmir was in shackles for decades, subject to occupation by the Indian nationalists and military. Believers of all kinds were under attack.

Harassed and stoned just like their fellow Muslims and Buddhists, the Shaivite gurus called to the eternal and powerful being to end the suffering.

There was chaos where there should have been peace, and discord where there should have been harmony.
Concerned by what he saw, Shiva knew that brute destruction led by fury was not the answer.
As he saw his followers meditate deep in hiding, Shiva thought to himself, “Liberation is more than just moksha from this world.”

As he himself meditated on this thought, the rivers of Kashmir and the echoes of the mountains became louder and louder. The trees began to sway from side to side. Before he could notice it, Shiva was swaying with the trees.

Soon, his limbs and arms gave in and the world, for the first time, witnessed Shiva’s creation dance. A dance with the purpose of liberation. With every step, he infused the dance with the essence of balance, weaving threads of light and shadow together in a delicate tapestry.

Shiva’s divine energy spread across the universe, touching every living being with a sense of acceptance, peace, and equilibrium. The stars sparkled brighter, the rivers flowed smoother, and the hearts of all creatures beat in unison with the cosmic rhythm.

Shiva's dance became not only a symbol of creation but also a reminder of the importance of liberation within the material world.

From that day onward, whenever Kashmiris saw a shooting star streak across the sky, they knew that Shiva's dance was still at work, weaving the threads of harmony into a liberated existence for Kashmiris and their land.
