Artist Statement
For as long as I can remember I’ve been making art. I like to experiment with any media I can get my hands on, ranging from drawing, to film, to ceramics. Currently I’m focusing on working with oil paints and watercolors. I am also experimenting by combining materials that are not traditionally used together.; such as charcoals and watercolors. I also enjoy exploring different styles and subjects, though animals and nature have long been a topic of focus. For me nature is very spiritual. Having spent the majority of my life surrounded by woods and farm animals, the natural world is the most abundantly seen evidence of God in my day to day life. Nature is the first solid evidence that convinced me of God’s existence during my teenage years of doubt. The complexity of a single flower, for example, could never have come by chance. I’m also fascinated by patterns and textures, especially those found in nature, whether seen from a distant or from a microscopic view point.
