Thanks to the Fort Valley College lecturer Brian Smith for the idea of what famous logos might look like in Ukrainian.
This idea inspired me to make a project about what Ukrainian logos might look like in English. This book presents the logos of «Артемсіль» and «Мрія» – plants that were destroyed by russia in Ukraine during 2022-2023. I also included here logos of Ukrainian restaurants in traditional handdrawn Ukrainian typefaces and the logo of Edinburgh to say thank you to Scotland, which sheltered me and my family during the war.
At the end of the book you can see a small tutorial on how I worked on creating letters in a specific typeface from those that were available.
Also thanks for:
The Typeface Alphabet of the Ukrainian Identity abetkaua.com for inspiration;
Artem Gusev (@gusev_art on Instagram), who created the illustration for the salt packaging “Міць”;
Kirill Tkachev (alfabravo.design) , who taught me in the course “Lettering. Calligraphy. Logo” in 2018.
Used typafaces:
• Take Cover by Magique Fonts.
• Open Sans by Steve Matteson.

ukrainian alphaвet
The modern Ukrainian alphabet is a set of 33 Cyrillic letters, 21 of whichvare consonants and 12 are vowels. The basis of Ukrainian writing is the Cyrillic alphabet, but the set of letters and their stylistic decoration has changed many times.
Cyrillic is an alphabet used for many East Slavic and South Slavic languages.
Most versions of the origin of the Cyrillic alphabet agree that the Cyrillic alphabet has a strong connection with the Greek script.
The early Cyrillic alphabet was developed in the 9th century AD in the Preslav Book School. This school was located on the territory of the First Bulgarian Kingdom, this alphabet was developed in Bulgaria during the reign of King Simeon I the Great, while the Cyrillic alphabet itself was probably created by the students of St. Cyril and Methodius.
The modern Ukrainian alphabet was created on the basis of Dutch antiquity and is a combination of Latin and Cyrillic . The original Ukrainian alphabet had other forms of letters until 1710, that is, before the introduction of the «citizen font» as a result of the reforms of Peter I (thenation21.com, (2022).

Due to constant shelling, the work of the enterprise was stopped in 2022.
The administrative building was destroyed, mines were hit.
Most of the residents of the city of Soledar were evacuated.
