Mirko Beljanski’s Life And Legacy
Mirko Beljanski, PhD, (1923-1998), biochemist and biologist, spent his professional career at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, studying the mechanisms of gene activation, cell division and tissue development in both normal and malignant states.

His book "The Regulation of DNA Replication and Transcription", published in 1983 and reissued in 2013, is devoted to this critical subject.
Dr. Beljanski discovered a change in the conformation of a cell's DNA when in the presence of carcinogens, pollutants or other harmful molecules. He showed that the DNA of a cancer cell becomes unwound or destabilized. From these results Dr. Beljanski invented the Oncotest, which allowed him to identify the carcinogenic potential of different molecules often present in our everyday life.
Mirko Beljanski’s discovery of the destabilizing role of environmental toxins to the DNAthat is to say at the very core of our cells - is central to understanding pathogenesis, and key to empowering all of us.
This key discovery, which has since been independently confirmed, remains the main reason why Dr. Beljanski is now often referred to as the “Father of Environmental Medicine.”
Dr. Beljanski went on to develop natural extracts (Pao pereira, Rauwolfia vomitoria, Golden Leaf of Ginkgo biloba and some RNA fragments) which have been extremely effective at supporting his patients against a variety of ailments.

An Injustice Recognized By The European Court Of Human Rights
In 1992, Dr. Beljanski was called upon by former French president François Mitterrand to help treat his prostate cancer. The extracts allowed the President to reach his second term in office
But upon Mitterrand’s death in 1996, Beljanski became the subject of relentless persecution aimed at wiping out the information that natural substances could be effective.

He and his wife were arrested, all the extracts were seized and Beljanski was forbidden to publish further research.
Beljanski passed away in Paris in 1998, without a trial date ever set by the French judge and the opportunity to clear his name.
In 2002, four years after Beljanski’s passing, The European Court of Human Rights recognized in a unanimous decision - Beljanski vs. France - that France had no excuse for the numerous delays denying Beljanski his day in court and had violated his basic human rights.
Mirko Beljanski left behind a body of 133 peer-reviewed papers, 2 books, and 11 patents. Mirko Beljanski used to say, “When we have the power to help, we have the duty of doing so. ”

It is generally believed that the difference between normal DNA and DNA from cancer cells is due to mutations, i.e., alterations in the primary structure of the DNA. This theory is still widely held.
However, Mirko Beljanski has shown that the permanent and fundamental difference between the DNA of healthy cells and cancer cells is essentially in the secondary structure: the double helix of cancer DNA is permanently relaxed over larger or smaller areas, whereas in normal DNA this relaxation occurs only locally and temporarily to allow DNA replication or gene expression.
Dr. Mirko Beljanski went on to develop a test in order to evaluate the carcinogenic potential of a given molecule. This test is based on the comparison of in vitro replication of healthy and cancerous DNA from the same type of organ in the presence of the test compound.
What is the Oncotest?
Products known to have carcinogenic activity significantly increase cancer DNA replication in the Oncotest. There is a perfect correlation between the increase in chronicity of cancer cell DNA, its matrix capacity, and the speed of cancer cell multiplication Molecules that destabilize cancerous DNA and increase its synthesis without having the same effect on healthy DNA have carcinogenic potential. This is the principle of the Oncotest.
What does the Oncotest measure?
The Oncotest measures the radioactive DNA synthesized by the DNA-dependent DNA polymerase in the presence of either normal or cancerous template DNA. This biochemical test is simple in principle and application.
How are results defined?
Results can be obtained in two to three hours and substances can be sorted into 4 categories:

Substances well known for their carcinogenic properties effectively stimulate DNA replication in cancerous DNA but have little effect on a corresponding DNA from healthy tissue This test confirms that at low doses, chemical antimitotics have carcinogenic potential.
2 This test also shows that many substances may rightfully be considered safe to DNA.

The Oncotest can also determine whether a molecule is toxic to the DNA synthesis reaction. For example, molecules that disable DNA polymerase and thus prevent DNA synthesis in reactions with both cancer and healthy DNA templates.
The last category is where molecules can selectively inhibit cancer DNA synthesis with no effect on healthy DNA. Could he find such a perfectly selective molecule? Beljanski reasoned that if nature had created carcinogens it also had surely created anti-carcinogens. Nature responded generously to his quest. His research led him to discover two plant extracts containing such molecules: Pao pereira and Rauwolfia vomitoria.

Where shall we go for safety?
Mirko Beljanski’s extracts are not going to offer a global solution; definitively, there would not be enough raw material. Pao pereira (Geissospermum vellosii): While working at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, Mirko Beljanski was the first to investigate the anticancer activity of Pao pereira as an extract that would be effective against cancer cells, but not penetrate healthy cells. Beljanski tested his Pao pereira extract on different cancer cell lines and published the results:
Rauwolfia vomitoria: Dr. Beljanski perfected an extract standardized in alstonine, but devoid of reserpine. Beljanski noted that once reserpine was removed from the Rauwolfia vomitoria extract, the extract had a selective effect against cancer cells with very low toxicity and no effect on hypertension.
Golden Leaf of Ginkgo biloba: Some highly beneficial aspects of this extract include regulation of nucleases (pathology and chemotherapy change a cell's nucleases quantitatively and qualitatively); protection from side effects of gamma radiation (powerful protective element against various side effects including fibrosis), the protection of chromosomes; and a positive effect on the liver.
RNA fragments: RNA fragments stimulate the formation of white blood cells and platelets. Mirko Beljanski discovered that they not only help maintain normal white blood cell and platelet levels, - which may decrease to dangerously low levels in several situations including radiation therapy and chemotherapy - but they also preserve normal proportions among the various kinds of white blood cells, notably those that fight infections.

Christian Marcowith, MD, was a well-regarded family doctor who maintained his practice in a little village in Burgundy, France. Curious and open-minded, he was always on the lookout for the best solutions for his patients. When Dr. Marcowith met Mirko Beljanski, PhD, the two started a conversation that continued until Marcowith’s passing in 1996.

In a notebook assigned for the use of Dr. Beljanski, Dr. Marcowith suggested dosage amounts for each of Beljanski’s discoveries, as well as treatment details that he found effective. The information is invaluable for physicians prescribing Beljanski’s extracts for patients suffering from any form of cancer or from other degenerative diseases such as hepatitis, herpes, HIV, prostatitis, and many more.
Ms. Marcowith has generously bequeathed to The Beljanski Foundation all rights to her husband’s notebooks. Dr. Marcowith’s notes have been translated and reproduced here, with The Beljanski Foundation’s permission.
"There are two main anticancer botanicals: Pao pereira and Rauwolfia vomitoria. Both kill cancer cells and only cancer cells. They have no toxic effect on the individual. They are taken orally, if possible, they should be swallowed several times throughout the day with meals. As they do not have the same target in the cell, taking them together doubles the individual’s chance of destroying cancer cells.
Both can be used alone as a preventative measure or as a treatment; however, it is important to understand that these two products work in synergy with conventional treatments, meaning that each one maintains its individual mode of action, but the therapeutic effects are compounded.
Pao pereira fights cancer cells with no side effects. It can be used either as a treatment or as a preventative measure. In addition, the alkaloid in this herb can cross the blood-brain barrier which makes it possible to add it to any treatment protocol for brain cancers and certain viruses. Still, in the latter cases the dose of Pao pereira must be increased since only a small fraction of the product crosses the blood-brain barrier.
Rauwolfia vomitoria: also fights cancer but with a special affinity for hormone-dependent tissues, including the breast, prostate, testes, thyroid, uterus, ovaries, cervix, etc. Thus, this remedy is very desirable if the organ affected is hormonally-dependent. Rauwolfia vomitoria can be taken to combat the negative effects of menopause, or as a preventative measure in the case of suspicion or risk of a particular pathology.
