On Tuesday, May 29, Mason Senior High School held its annual senior assembly to celebrate the graduating senior class.
Things started with a welcome from the class of 2025 class advisor, Mr. Bowers. He then handed out the Summa, Magna and Cum Laude honors. These are based on students’ GPAs. A total of 26 students received cords for their GPA.
Special recognition was given to Student Council, The National Honors Society, Youth in Government, Dollar for Scholars, Yearbook staff, and SPLT (Student Prevention Leadership Team), each receiving tassels or stoles.
Mrs. Whipple and Ms. Huber then honored the students who participated in the Unified Sports class, with
Nicholas Reichow awarded Peer of the Year.
Some teachers handed out individual awards from the education departments.
For athletics, Mr. Hayes gave out the Clifford Sterns award, a prestigious award tradition, to Beth Sweeney and Logan Goodin for their achievements in athletics and academics.
Finally, the senior slideshow was played. It was very heartwarming to see the baby pictures and quotes of all the graduates.
A senior lunch followed the assembly where students were judged for their decision posters. First place was awarded to Brianna Raymond, who is attending Owens Community College. Second place went to Madison Elliot and third place went to Elizabeth Lambert.
Please join us in celebrating these seniors at graduation on June 1 at 5 p.m., taking place on the football field.
Toledo Zoo museum provides exciting prom
The Class of 2025 danced the night away at this year’s prom held at The Toledo Zoo’s museum April 26.
As students entered, they were greeted by Erie Mason staff as well as two furry animals - a chinchilla and rabbit - that they could pet (with help of a zookeeper).
The night continued with a buffet dinner of chicken and potatoes. An ice cream bar topped off the eating portion of the night. Soon after, the dancing began and, boy, was it wild.
Lastly, the homecoming king and queen were crowned -- Login Goodin and Nadia Glendenning respectively.
