There are two types of brain tumors.
1. Metastatic 2. Primary
The non cancerous brain tumors are also dangerous but less aggressive as they tend to stay in one place only.
Metastatic Brain Tumour
Metastatic brain tumor or secondary brain cancer occurs when cancer cells attack the brain travelling from other parts of the body such as the skin, breasts, kidneys, lungs, and colon. Metastatic brain tumor usually occurs in the cerebral cortex, the brain stem, or the cerebellum. At times, the doctors are not able to trace the origin of the metastasis.
SYMPTOMS:
Nausea, severe headaches, and vomiting Seizures including muscle spasms and abnormal tastes or smells Vision & speech problems
Physical weakness, numbness
The symptoms mentioned above do not confirm the presence of the tumor.
DIAGNOSIS OF BRAIN TUMOR:
Physical assessment of symptoms Medical History of patient Neurological Diagnosis
MRI, PET, and other imaging procedures Collection of spinal fluid Biopsy of the affected area
BRAIN TUMOR TREATMENT:
Surgery: With the massive advancement in mapping and imaging, brain surgery is less risky, and results are more effective.
Radiation: The cancer cells can be killed using radiations without harming the surrounding healthy tissues.
