My Medical Career: I joined GS Medical College, KEM Hospital, Mumbai, one of the prime institutes in 1980 as a medical student. I passed my final MBBS in December 1984 with a distinction in the subject of preventive and social medicine. After completing the internship for one year, I joined the postgraduate programme in the same institute to do my MD in obstetrics and gynaecology. I completed that in three years in 1989 and I was first in the theory part of the final MD examination. My university training included working in Wadia Maternity Hospital and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. Before that, I completed diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology, Fellowship of the college of physicians and surgeons and diploma in family planning. All these three degrees were from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, which is affiliated to Mumbai University. I then completed my diplomat of national board from New Delhi. I joined as a youngest lecturer in the BMC in 1989 and worked at Rajawadi hospital, RN Cooper Hospital and KEM Hospital. I resigned as a senior lecturer in order to pursue my career further in the United Kingdom. I came to the UK in 1993 and underwent the training programme again. During this programme, I worked at various hospitals in London, which were Newham General Hospital, Haroldwood Hospital, Royal London Hospital, North Middlesex Hospital. I was awarded the MRCOG in 1996 and subsequently FRCOG in 2009. My training also included a research Fellowship at the St Bartholomew’s Hospital and my topic was “Adhesion Prevention�. After completing the training programme in obstetrics and gynaecology, I also completed my formal training as a family practitioner in 2002. I came back to my passion of obstetrics and gynaecology and joined as a senior registrar at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich in 2003. I subsequently became a full time consultant in October 2004. I left my job as a consultant in 2013 February. During this tenure, I worked as a lead of colposcopy unit for four years and also as a clinical director for a short tenure. I also did my private practice in Blackheath Hospital, London, London Independent hospital, Spire Roding Hospital in Ilford and Holly House Hospital in Woodford Green. My special interests have been advanced Laparoscopic surgery, colposcopy and incontinence surgery. I was a formal trainer for the Gynecare and Ethicon division of Johnson and Johnson for seven years and managed to set up various units across the UK for procedures such as laparoscopic hysterectomies, TVTO etc. I also was a trainer at the Hamburg Institute in Germany, which was a training programme for consultants across the world to learn advanced laparoscopic surgery techniques on live pigs. I started working as a chief visiting laparoscopic surgeon at the Beams institute in Mumbai in 2014. Since 2014 till date, I have set up the advanced laparoscopic centre in Mumbai and have been performing various advanced techniques. I also work there as a trainer for the Ethicon
