Daily Schedule Structure

Morning Activities

Each day begins with breakfast and networking from 8:30-9:00 AM (8:00 AM on Tuesday), followed by structured workshops and working sessions focused on different aspects of data science course development.

Morning sessions typically include:

Course Development Workshops

Framework discussions

Individual and group brainstorming

Collaborative learning activities

Midday Break

A consistent lunch period is scheduled from approximately 12:15/12:30 PM to 1:15/1:30 PM each day.

Special lunchtime activities include:

Afternoon Components

Afternoon sessions focus on practical application and peer review, typically running until approximately 5:30 PM.

Institute Focus Areas and Progression

The Faculty Development Summer Institute follows a logical progression from orientation through foundations, technical skills, and implementation, with each day building upon the previous day's work toward complete course development.

Day 1: Welcome & Orientation

Travel day with team huddle and welcome reception, setting the stage for the institute.

Day 2: Foundations

Establishing the groundwork for data science course development with focus on course design standards, objectives, and framework mapping.

Day 3: Data Wrangling

Exploring mathematics/statistics and data curation aspects of the Data Science and Analysis Framework.

Day 4: Coding

Focusing on programming, modeling, communication, and ethics within the data science curriculum.

Day 5: Presentations

Culminating in faculty presentations of completed course designs and implementation planning.
