GAME 29: OLE MISS The Tennessee Lady Volunteers finished the 200910 regular season by putting the final touches on the first undefeated home regular season since 2002-03. A 75-63 win over the Rebels extended UT’s home winning streak to 17 games and made it 19 games since Ole Miss last downed the Lady Vols. Tennessee raced out to a 10-2 start over the first 3:01 of the contest and the Lady Vols built a 31-18 lead with 6:04 to play in the first half. The Rebels battled back within five, 3631, on the strength of a trio of three-pointers. Tennessee was able to extend the lead back to eight, 40-32, at the half. Tennessee pushed its lead back to 10 points, 44-34, barely a minute into the second half. Ole Miss’ Bianca Thomas scored the Rebels next 12 points and moved UM to within one and Elizabeth Robertson forced the first and only tie of the game at 50 points each with a three-pointer at the 12:32 mark. The Lady Vols outscored the Rebels 17-4 over the next 8:25 to claim a victory in their final regular season game. The Rebels were led by Thomas, a Henderson, Tenn., native, who torched the Lady Vols for 34 points, the most by an individual against UT this year. Tennessee was led by a pair of sophomores. Shekinna Stricklen scored a team-high 23 points and grabbed a gamehigh 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season and the sixth of her career. Alicia Manning scored a careerbest 15 points and tied Stricklen for game-high rebound honors with 10. Redshirt sophomore center Kelley Cain finished with eight rebounds, seven points and three blocks. The trio of rejections pushed Cain to 101 swats on the campaign and past former Player of the Year Candace Parker’s school record of 99 blocks in a season. Tennessee won the battle of the boards, 49-40, for the 27th time and outscored Ole Miss 34-22 in the paint.
