SHOWING THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BUSINESSES WITH INTERVIEWS
Every video we see comes from someone with an idea, a message, or a business. Often a logo doesn’t mean much until we dig into the personality behind it. The more you learn about the real humans behind the stores and websites we visit each week, the more connected you may feel.
I’m featuring Ivonne Sepulveda, President/CEO of The Greater Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce, because she’s interviewed dozens and dozens of business owners. Each interview brings learning, insight, and often a good laugh.
Ivonne’s new headshots are amazing, thanks to Paris Blue Photograph. Be inspired and keep it simple.
Years ago I remember sitting at a table with Ivonne during a big fundraiser and she totally caught my eye. She was a student of success. She was taking notes on who donated what, how much items were being auctioned for and other details. I was just there for the cause and company but she was in study mode.
I love when curiosity steers future choices. She was gathering information to help improve her gala auction event. Brilliant!!
It was months later when she asked me about editing some videos for her. She has this vision and simply needed a little assistance. I was honored and now we’ve published dozens of videos for her community.
Ivonne’s video project was simply to introduce Chamber members via video and find a way to connect them to the community.
Video has been a hot topic for the last 5+ years in the business world and her consistency to pull this off is remarkable! Here are a few of her secrets and suggestions so you can use your own videos to help grow your business.

Each video you watch is like reading a chapter of their book. It’s not the full story yet it often entices you to learn more.
Scripting. Gulp. So many resist it. It’s useful in the sense you have a framework, intentions, a direction. Leadership requires a vision and the ability to a generate a result.
Knowing the elements of a good appointment setting script is important. Whether you simply want to get a coffee chat, interview someone on video, or propose your business as a solution; planning the words to use helps!
Ivonne was generous to break down some of her approach, and it’s simple! I made a visual to keep it simple.

Be inspired by my framework on remarkable leadership. We’re constantly in one of these quadrants.
In general, consuming content doesn’t get you paid... yet some types of content can be consumed and improved upon as a service:
Video editing
Copywriting and copy editing
Blog post proofing and posting
Video course recording, editing, and organizing of online membership
Podcast editing
I wanted to highlight these as services I can provide at dreamosity.com or as options for you digitally savvy creators looking to beef up your portfolio and experience financial joy. I tend to batch these into social media contracts but occasionally, such as in Ivonne’s case, I offer an hourly rate.
Consider your skills and know that there is a ton of opportunity right now to support leaders with their vision to embrace digital.
Every video editing project brings ability to cut, add images, remove sections and add transitions.
With Ivonne’s video project it was simple, edit out the first 20 seconds while she walks up to the table after turning it on, add a logo, cut out any major blooper, and edit out the last few seconds. It can be simple! Not all videos need to be documentary style, in my opinion, there is a place for a variety of styles in your body of work.
What I love about video editing is it forces me to watch each one start to finish. I learn so much about the community from her interviews.
I challenge you to watch several of hers and share your favorite into a group where others will benefit!
If video has you overwhelmed, know you are in good company. There are hundreds of decisions for each video. Do we add music? Where do we film? What to wear? What to say? Should I put the logo here or there? Zoom in? Crop? A fun transition or a standard one?
Keep it simple and find some video savvy friends to collaborate with. Reach out to me if you want 1/1 support to run through the basics.
24 types of transitions are available in iMovie!?
When your purpose is clear it’s easier to enroll others into your vision.
Customers, clients, children, and any creative spirit might be a fun collaborator for your next video l!
Write out your request and try email, video, text, or in person. Your words will land well when your purpose is clear.
A little tripod and a smartphone can capture your conversation on video.
Check out these recent trainings I published on YouTube. If you’re in the video game or want to be, I’m sure you’ll learn something new!
Finding your own style and level of creative collaboration takes time and it’s so much fun!

Notice the variety and styles in storytelling. Social media is about being social with the media. It’s not news, it’s not a monologue, it’s an opportunity to create a better, more informed world.
This summer I started working with Rob Bingham, a franchise owner who is part artist and part engineer. He makes people feel amazing on their own property.
He told me he’s the greatest light guy nobody knows about. Well, that’s about to change, I told him. Developing Digital Rob has been great as he’s a great storyteller and truly cares about his customers.
In the rainy PNW, it’s not the easiest thing to grasp for many homeowners. He shared with me all the benefits. Personally, I know how big of an issue safety has been in our area.
Imagine pulling up to your home and getting a positive feeling. You walk a pathway and it’s well lit. You can see the trees and a warm glow. A well lit place makes people feel good.
People like to see farther in the distance from a security perspective. You’re pushing back the wall of darkness, or the line of “unknown” in your backyard. Your brain does a threat assessment and you can relax and find peace because you can now see what’s there, vs what you don’t want to see out there.
Follow along as we tell more stories and showcase more places on his instagram @OLPNorthSound and @OLPPugetSound.
Help others bend time!
Spatially and visually track progress in a way spreadsheets can't.
The internet collapses time in a way that is hard to explain. Posting a video to your one business page isn’t the only place people might benefit from it.
Plan a list of places or people who could benefit and network that video into their view.
Visualize your sphere of influence to help more people find your videos & resources.
Data art is a novel and complex topic. I’m happy to be interviewed on podcasts, instagram lives, or co-create to help bring this important message to more people.
Stay well, Marcelle
