unable to achieve during the lockdowns.
Mental health is certainly a growing problem in this country, and during that period, it was obvious to us, that so many were struggling who came to visit us. We wanted to be the bridge that gave people who felt isolated, who had a different opinion, a place to call home.
Sadly though, it is impossible to run a pub without finances, and due to lack of trade, we soon ran out of money and unfortunately had to close the business and additionally we lost our family home.
Back in 2020 when the world was going completely crazy, we took over a lovely pub in the village of Croston (only a few minutes drive from this event). It was certainly not the easiest time to run a pub, and considering we signed for that particular pub the day they shut all of the pubs in the UK before going into nationwide lockdown, we soon realised we were not there to run a succesful business, in terms of money and material wealth, but to open the doors to those that felt didn’t have a voice, that felt they were unable to question the narrative.
During that time many businesses and sole traders took a huge financial hit, and we were certainly no different. In fact, when we were finally ‘allowed’ to open, the ludicrous rules that were placed on pubs, meant we were losing money from day one. It was an uphill battle to stay open, but was that our purpose?
It seemed not...as within only a short time, due to our public stance, we welcomed many new likeminded faces to the pub, that travelled from all over the country to enjoy a space that allowed them to ‘breathe’, allowed them to meet new friends. We held festivals, to ensure local artists received a pay check that they were
As mentioned, we were not there simply to run a successful business, our success was different and more profound. A great network of people, mainly from the North West but from all areas of the UK continue to stay in touch with each other because of the friendships that grew at that time. And for that we are so grateful.
Originally, this particular event was a celebration of that period, a reunion if you like. And it was always the plan to have a one day event, close to the pub, for those regular faces to meet up again.
However, once we started planning, the phone started ringing. We had already booked Mobius Loop for the Sunday (as they had played at The Crown before), and other artists that had performed on our previous festivals.
We used to host speakers at the pub, so we thought let’s have some more speakers. But the phone just kept ringing. So our 1 day event, soon became a 2 day event. And because of this we needed space for campers and it just grew and grew.
And now we have the most incredible lineup. Packed full of powerful and knowledgable speakers, wonderful artists and beautiful healers.
We hope you enjoy our time with us.

The It’s Time to Rise 2023 Festival is situated in the beautiful village of Ulnes Walton in Leyland.
The full address is Barlows Field, Ulnes Walton Lane, Leyland, PR26 8LT but sadly the sat nav’s do not always find the spot. The easiest way to find the location is to use the app ‘what3words’. By using flame.forms.clattered you will be directed to the very entrance of the venue. Use this link on a browser to locate: https://w3w.co/flame.forms.clattered
Barlow’s Field is directly opposite the Eccleston Equestrian Centre on Ulnes Walton Lane. Ulnes Walton Lane is a direct turning on the corner of ‘Barlow’s Trailer’s on the A581, close to the Rose & Crown pub.
We encourage visitors to car share if possible. There is car parking available at the site at a cost of £5. Ulnes Walton Lane is a country narrow lane, and there will be no parking available on this road. Please be aware of this. It is also not advised to walk on this road (especially in the dark) as it is a fast road without pavements.
ACCESS to the venue will be clear when you arrive, and volunteers will be available to help you find your parking or camping spot. Please take care when driving on the venue grounds, due to weeks of rain, the gound will be soft. We are preparing rubber mats if the ground hasn’t dried out in time. Please drive at no faster than 5mph.
By TrainThe nearest train station is in the village of Croston, which is only a few minutes drive away. The nearest major station is Leyland. It is advised that if you travel by train to use a taxi to take you to the venue, as mentioned above we do not recommend you walk on Ulnes Walton Lane.
The Crown in Croston may be no more, but that will not stop us from bringing the spirit and THE STAFF to the It’s Time to Rise Festival.
We are delighted to announce that the bar will be fully staffed by the lovely Cheryl Pilkington and Tracey Milligan, who were the faces of the Crown bar over its final couple of years.

As we have witnessed, especially through the month of July. Global Boiling is a very serious threat to our enjoyment, and has certainly been the cause of many sleepless nights for the organisers of the It’s Time to Rise Festival.
The wonderful weather that we have been experiencing, apart from the occasional cheeky sticking on the heating in the house, the wet weather has been an issue for most festivals up and down the country.
And this one will be no different...
As we are operating on a very tight budget, we are waiting until the very last moment, in hope that the ground will dry out in time to allow for vehicles to come and go at ease.
If the wet weather conditions do not dry out in time, we plan to invest in rubber matting to ensure that cars and campers, will be able to access the car park area and camping area.
Please however, be patient with us if the conditions do not improve. We will have a team of volunteers available to help out, and the farmer has his tractor if all else fails.
At the time of writing this, the festival team are currently doing a ‘dry this f**king land’ dance, thankfully fully clothed, to the Gods as we look to manifest beautiful sunny weather, which will make all the difference.
But fear not, if we experience the similar ‘Global Boiling’ weather of June, not only will we invest in the rubber mats for the vehicles, we have rented a rather large marquee for you to enjoy the talkers and muscians. Plus, there is a rather large cow shed, that has just been built, which we can utilse for a drinking and eating area.
Either way, us Brits should never be put off by a little bit of wet weather, let’s be honest we are very used to it by now.
However, let us manifest a change of temperature, let’s see if we can bring about the wonderful heat source we see in the sky, that we name the Sun.
Please join us by doing a dry dance!
“No matter what the weather, we have you covered!”
On arrival, you will be greeted at the gate by our lovely volunteers, they will be there to check your tickets, provide your wristbands and direct you to the car park or the camping area.
We are a ‘cash is king’ event, so you can pay cash at the door, but please note that priority is given to those that have booked a ‘cash is king’ voucher on our website as we have limited capacity.
Although we are hiring tables and chairs, we recommend bringing some camping chairs with you. The days will be long, and to make the most of it, it is always good to be

3. Ear defenders
4. Poop bags

Although we are hiring tables and chairs, we recommend bringing some camping chairs with you in case we do have enough. The days will be long, and to make the most of it, it is always good to be able to sit down.
We are sure there are some harderned campers joining us for the weekend, but for those coming that are not used to camping...
The weather...could be crap...
So, bring lots of warm and comfortable clothing. There is lots of shelter at the festival, but if you get wet, it will be wise to have a change of clothes.
No fires are allowed at the campsite, BBQ’s must be raised off the grass.
Please respect that other campers will wish to sleep, therefore try and keep the noise to a minimum once the
entertainment has finished at 11pm.
The bar is serving alcohol from 1pm until 11pm on Saturday and Sunday, but will be serving soft drinks earlier in the day if required.
We aim to have many volunteers helping us over the weekend, you will likely see one wearing a high viz jacket if you have any questions.
Toilets are available at the site, but sadly we do not have showers for this event, so be prepared to wet wipe!
We truly hope you enjoy your weekend with us, festivals do not always run smoothly, so please do have patience with us if there is the occasional blip!
