In order to ensure they attain their anticipated long service life, modern lead-acid batteries require regular equalisation charges. This is particularly relevant to vehicle batteries that are subject to heavy loads owing to the many power consumers they have to supply.
Moreover, shorts trips and irregular driving profiles, in combination with stop & go traffic and a large number of cold starts, serve to create a negative charge balance in the battery. As a result of this gradual undercharging, the battery can slide into a deeply discharged state and fail to function.
Fortunately, the problem can be solved through regular equalisation charging or, in the case of seasonally operated vehicles, charge retention using Banner’s ACCUCHARGER. This intelligent device employs the latest microprocessor-controlled technology with multi-stage charging programs for optimum battery care, maximum safety and operational simplicity.

Batteries sold as replacements by Banner are only guaranteed against premature failure due to manufacturing defects. In the unfortunate event of such a claim, the battery should be returned with proof of purchase to the original Banner distributor for testing. Subject to the testing, the distributor will exchange the battery free of charge.
The battery must be fully charged for testing to take place.
• The distributor has the right to test and, if necessary, charge the battery before agreeing a claim.
This does not affect the statutory rights of the consumer in any way.

This guarantee does not cover:
SULPHATION This tends to happen if a vehicle hasn’t been driven for extended periods.
DEEP CYCLING This can happen if the vehicle’s engine is started frequently, or left on for extended periods between journeys.
OVERCHARGING This is usually caused by a fault in the vehicle’s charging system.
PHYSICAL This is usually caused by incorrect DAMAGE handling and storage.
WEAR & TEAR This is caused by misuse.
Please note. If a vehicle has a START/STOP function, the battery MUST be replaced with an AGM or EFB battery. For example, if the vehicle is equipped with an AGM, an AGM replacement must be fitted.
• Ensure your battery is wired and installed in the correct manner.
• Charge your battery after purchase and prior to each use.
• Keep terminals and posts free from corrosion – lightly coat with petroleum jelly.
• Always keep your battery fully charged – even when not in use. When not in use, store in a cool environment connected to an intelligent, 3-stage auto charger.
• Always keep your battery upright and adequately secured.
• Always apply a charge to your battery at the end of the season and remove it from your caravan/motorhome. Or, where possible, use a permanent connected intelligent charger.
• Check your caravan/motorhome for systems that draw a constant charge – e.g tracker/alarm – as you will need to counter this draw with a constant re-charge to maintain the battery – e.g solar or mains.
• Never over-charge your battery. Once disconnected from the charger and after 24hrs, a fully charged 12 V battery should have a voltage of 12.7 V, which can be checked with a multimeter.
• Never discharge your battery. A battery is fully discharged when the load voltage is 11.7 V. If this happens, recharge immediately.
• Never leave your battery in a discharged state – EVER! This causes sulphation and destroys your battery, and this is not covered under warranty.
• Never reverse the polarity on your battery charging leads, as this will damage the battery and charger.
• Never rely on the automotive alternator to charge your battery. They are not designed to do this, only top up a partially discharged battery. Doing so will damage the battery and reduce its working life.
• Locate the battery in the vehicle
• Connect the positive and negative terminals with the respective ones on the tester
• Current battery voltage is displayed immediately
• Select the battery type – Standard, AGM, GEL
• Select the standard (EN Europe)
• Select the cold start current (Cold Cranking Amps – CCA)
• The ‘Charge & Check’ test result will be displayed
• The result can be printed out directly
• If required, charge the battery using an Accucharger
• Repeat the battery test
• Reprint the test results

1. USED BATTERIES: The return of used batteries is stipulated by law. Banner collects used batteries free of charge for regulated recycling at its plant.
2. RECYCLING: Used batteries are 100% suited to recycling and most new parts are manufactured from recycled materials. This keeps prices stable, conserves resources and protects the environment.
3. LEAD: Pure lead is the basic raw material employed in Banner batteries. is delivered in 45 kg bars with a recycled lead content of 90%.
4. LEAD OXID: In our reactors, lead is combined with oxygen to form lead oxide and is then placed in interim storage in silos prior to further processing.
5. MESH PRODUCTION: Lead alloys are used for the production of positive and negative charged mesh, which transfers the electricity in the battery to the electrodes in optimum fashion.
• 95-98 per cent recycled lead is used in the production process.
• Battery boxes are manufactured using 80 per cent recycled polypropylene.
6. PLATE PRODUCTION: Positive and negative plates are manufactured from lead powder and various additives, and then attached to the mesh.
7. MATURATION: In order that the finished battery can store power to an optimum extent, the electrodes must mature in an atmosphere with a defined temperature and humidity.
8. BATTERY ASSEMBLY: The electrodes are “jacketed” to form sets and then welded into the battery box, which is subsequently sealed with a lid.
9. ACID FILLING: During this production phase, the battery is filled with a precisely measured amount of electrolyte, which in this case consists of diluted sulphuric acid.
10. CHARGING: The power is now added to the Banner batteries. These are placed in cooling baths to prevent overheating and then charged with direct current (DC).
• Since 2015, Banner has obtained its electricity from renewable sources.
• 60 per cent of the electricity used is employed for battery charging.
11. FUNCTION TESTING: 100% OK! Following production, every battery is subjected to thorough testing and no battery leaves the Banner plant without a functional check.
12. PACKAGING: Our miniature power plants are labelled and packed in precise quantities in accordance with customer requirements and orders.
