I’d like to welcome everyone to today’s fixture and extend a warm welcome to Trefelin, along with their players, staff and supporters. We hope you enjoy your visit and that we’re in for another competitive match this afternoon.
Last time out we faced Carmarthen at home in what turned out to be a very frustrating game for us. We started the match brilliantly and were 2–0 up after just 20 minutes, playing some excellent football and looking fully in control. Unfortunately, from that point on we took our foot off the gas and what followed was one of the poorest defensive spells I’ve seen from us. In the space of 20 minutes we allowed Carmarthen back into the game and somehow found ourselves going in at half time 3–2 down. That was despite Harry Johnson producing a big moment by saving a penalty. The way we defended during that period simply wasn’t good enough and it’s something we have addressed.
The second half, however, was a completely different story. The lads responded exactly how you would hope. We played with energy, intensity and created numerous opportunities to get ourselves back into the game. On another day we could easily have levelled the score or even gone on to win it. Unfortunately, once again we didn’t take the chances that came our way. That has been the story for us too often this season.
Ultimately, that is often the difference between sides like ours and the teams at the very top with bigger resources and finances. The margins are small, and the top sides tend to be more clinical in key moments. That’s the level we are striving to reach and the players know the standards required.
Today we face another big challenge as we take on Trefelin. We played them away only a few weeks ago and were beaten 3–1 in what was a very competitive game. They are a strong side with real quality and organisation, and after losing to their closest rivals for the title in midweek they will no doubt come here determined to bounce back and keep their push for the title on track.
For us, the message is simple. We have to be better in key moments and turn good performances into positive results. The effort and commitment from the players has never been in question, but now we must make sure we are more ruthless and more disciplined when it matters most.
I still have a lot of belief in this group. They work incredibly hard and I’m confident that if we continue to perform at the levels we have shown, the results will turn.
Diolch yn fawr, Nana Baah

Cardiff Draconians 2-3 Carmarthen Town

Orange Llama Stadium – 14th March 2026 – Attendance: 165 Match report by Josh Thomas.
Cardiff Draconians threw away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Carmarthen Town on Saturday (March 14th).
Two goals in as many minutes from Dan Bowen and Harry Treharne put the Dracs on course for their first victory in four Cymru South games.
However, the Old Gold hit back through Lewis Reed, Liam Thomas and Keyon Reffell to help the visitors edge the five-goal thriller at the Orange Llama Stadium.

The first chance fell to Amin, who picked up the ball and let fly from the edge of the area but his effort flew straight into the grateful arms of John Chesters.
The hosts, however, opened the scoring when Efu Kazadi ran forward, and the ball ended up with Bowen, and his effort struck the back of the net.

A second duly followed two minutes later when Treharne finished well to double the Draconians advantage.
But the visitors halved the scores in the 26th minute after a great passage of play ended up with Reed heading home past Harry Johnson.
But moments later Nana Baah’s men nearly restored their two-goal advantage after Sam Cawley held the ball well, he laid it off to Marinho Manga, who in turned passed it across goal into the path of Amin, but he couldn’t get enough contact on it, and the ball headed wide.
Carmarthen won a penalty just before the break, but Harry Johnson was able to get down smartly and pushed Thomas’ spot kick away and behind to spark jubilant scenes in the home end.

But joy turned to despair as two goals inside a minute from Thomas and Reffell turned the exciting encounter on its head and enabled Carmarthen to lead 3-2 at half-time.
The Dracs found themselves unfortunate not to level the scores after the interval when captain Nathan Mathias dragged an effort wide, before Treharne fired over following a cheeky back-heel from Bowen.
And with five minutes left Bowen thought he has levelled the scores but his effort was well-saved by Chesters, as Carmarthen held firm to claim all three points.

Cardiff Draconians: Johnson, Davies (Cooper 67), Kazadi (Wylie 45+3), Manga, Cawley, Mathias (C) (Samson 78), Amin (Mallam 78), Bowen, Treharne, Benford, J.Roberts (Wilcox 67)
Unused substitutions: Xabi, Hartrey

We don’t mention them enough but we would like to say a huge thank you to our pitch side board sponsors. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Craig Wilcox has praised the “fantastic” atmosphere at Cardiff Draconians.
The winger arrived at the start of 2026 from Baglan Dragons, appearing in five matches since his debut against Cambrian United in January.
The Dracs are back in action this afternoon, where they welcome Trefelin BGC to the Orange Llama Stadium in the first of five home games of the remaining six matches left this season.
And Wilcox shares with media officer Josh Thomas his thoughts on last weekend’s defeat against Carmarthen Town, being part of the club, the upcoming period and facing the Ynys Park outfit.
JT: How frustrating was it to give away a 2-0 lead against Carmarthen Town and lose the game?
CW: (It was) very frustrating. (We were) clinical early in the game but (we) allowed Carmarthen to grow into the way they play and in the end they just outperformed us.

JT: Since joining the Dracs, how have they made you feel, what is it like to be part of the side?
CW: The atmosphere at the club is fantastic, great staff members and players were very welcoming when I joined. We enjoy looking ahead to the next training session and game each week.
JT: Being one of the experienced players in the side, what lessons can you share with the players around you, and what can you bring to the Dracs?
CW: Communication is key and as a team, you have to do the basics well from start to finish. At times, throughout games, you have to be smart and not become complacent.

JT: Our next five matches of six are at home, how important is it to go out and end the season well?
CW: Home or away, you have to turn up at this level and perform. If you don’t, it’s hard to come away with any points.

JT: Up next is Trefelin, how much are you looking forward to it?
s just another game we need to perform in. We understand how they play and how the reverse fixture a couple weeks ago was. The pressure is on them to stay in the title race but we know when we move the ball with intent, we can identify weaknesses in any opponent.
JT: They have done well this season, having secured promotion to the Cymru Premier and are in the hunt for the title, how much do you look at teams like that and how does it make you feel? Does it give you the motivation to go out and get something like that for yourselves?
CW: Any team at this level aspires to be in the position they are in, and we could certainly be higher up the table than we currently are but again that comes down to making sure we perform well each game.

JT: They have the likes of ex-Wales international Shaun MacDonald in their side, how great is it to play against them?
CW: Of course, it’s great to play against footballers who have played at a higher level, but at the end of the day it’s 11 v 11, as cliche as it is. If seven, eight players win their individual duels, we win the game.
