This collective zine was created by students in Ethnic Studies 399: Indigenous Resistance & Pop Culture at Oregon State University during Spring 2021. As a final assignment, students were expected to create a zine page to highlight an issue faced by Indigenous communities using elements of pop culture. Pop culture includes music, art, film, graffiti, video games, graphic novels, and other mediums that are popular in various moments of time. Part of the challenge of a zine is presenting the message clearly with minimal text and reliance on imagery to help tell the story. As a class, the students collectively use pop culture to bring forth various issues facing Indigenous communities.
Dr. Luhui Whitebear served as instructor and contributed the closing image.
