August 2025 Central Professional Learning Course Guide
The 2025 August Central Professional Learning Guide lists the centrallyprovided professional learning opportunities available to all Denver Public Schools educators during the week of August 11-15. This includes August 14th Central PL day with required learning for each grade/content area, as well as additional development opportunities. During the second half of the morning, participants will engage in breakout sessions tailored to their roles and interests� Elementary GT teachers will receive updates on Universal Screening, while all educators will explore how AI tools can support the writing of meaningful ALP goals� Dr� Dina Brulles will lead a session on effective cluster grouping practices, and participants will be introduced to Belouga, a platform designed to support personalized, project-based learning for ALPs� Secondary GT teachers will have a session focused on planning for the year ahead for ALP completion, building teacher collaboration, progress monitoring, and staff professional development.
Note: This is the first of two required sessions. Please be sure to also register for Session 2, which will take place in person in the afternoon and continue the day’s learning.

Part 2 (In Person): Empowering Excellence in Gifted Education

Session Description: This in-person session (12:30-3:45) is the second half of our August professional learning day and is required for all GT teachers� The session will begin with cohort meetings designed to foster collaboration and planning across roles and grade levels� Following cohorts, participants will choose from a series of breakout sessions offering practical tools and strategies to strengthen GT programming. Topics include GT-specific SEL support resources, using Magic School AI to differentiate across content areas and grade levels, implementing academic and talent portfolios to expand identification practices, and strategies for advocating for the GT teacher role at the school level�

Building Community & Capacity in Restorative Practices
Audience: ECE-12 Restorative Practices Coordinators and Student Support Liaisons
Session Description: This session will bring together all Restorative Practices Coordinators (RPCs) and Student Support Liaisons (SSLs) to kick off the school year in community. Participants will be introduced to the district’s Safe and Welcoming strategy and how the Transformative Learning Environments team will support with implementation. Together, we’ll explore how to support school teams’ culture plans, document restorative interventions, use data to inform our work, and access key resources throughout the year� This space is also an opportunity to build connections across schools, strengthen our shared purpose, and align on our collective goals for cultivating safe, inclusive, and healing-centered school environments�
