Highway Transportation
Located on Highway 287, Lamar, Colorado serves as a major logistics hub for commercial goods shipped between Canada and Mexico along the Ports to Plains Alliance Corridor; a 2,300-mile transportation system that makes up about five percent of the Nation’s roads, yet it carries over 55 percent of the vehicle miles travelled.
Lamar is also the juncture for U.S. Highway 50, which intersects with the Ports-to-Plains Alliance Corridor to offer logistical access for durable goods and commodities heading to major population hubs to the East and West of the city, earning the region the moniker of “Being in the Middle of Everywhere”.
Commercial Transportation
Southeast Colorado Regional Airport (LAA), is a jet-certified, General Aviation airport that features a 5,000’ asphalt runway; plus a 6,300’ cement runway capable of accommodating Airbus A380 –800 aircraft or most Boeing commercial aircraft.
Amtrak services supporting the Chicago-Kansas City and Albuquerque-Los Angeles run. Lamar is a scheduled passenger stop. Intermodal services available in Raton and Albuquerque.

Lamar Community College, a comprehensive 2-year community college, provides a non-credit, competency-based industry sewing technician certificate program, that offers flexible and variable scheduling options. In addition, LCC works with local employers to offer skill-based, customized training curriculums.
The skill sets taught in the Industrial Sewing Technician Program trains new hires to use the following machines:
