n February 6, 2021, I made the decision to leave my hometown to escape a world of abuse and neglect from the father of my children. I arrived to Huntsville with only $600.00 in my pocket. I was determined to make things work for my children and me. During this time of finding strength, God spoke to me, telling me it was time for me to get up and overcome the depression I was in. This awakening led me to become stronger in my faith and trust God’s will and process. As my children and I headed out on our new journey with little to no money, I trusted that God would keep us and guide us in the right direction.

My journey led us to Downtown Rescue Mission.

They took us in with open arms and helped my children feel comfortable and at home. The Mission

has given us peace of mind and allowed us to restore and repair our lives by giving us an opportunity to get ourselves together without worry. I love how the Mission makes sure we are well and have everything we need. God has blessed us with this beautiful family of people who have understanding hearts and provide us hope. I’m very grateful to have come across such godly and motivating people who honestly care for struggling families.

I wish there were more places like the Mission. I am able to go to school and work with no issues or hassle. They are patient with families trying to make a way for themselves. I’m so happy to say the Mission does their best to provide us clothing and every day needs. God has used DRM to help give me a more spiritual awakening, which helped me to understand that I can do all things with Christ. I am able to give God all of my worries and trust God. As He makes a way for my children and me, we are able to help other families here overcome their battles.

ignalink, Inc., located in Madison, AL, works diligently to ensure that we are giving back in our community. Our employees lead Signalink Serves, the community outreach arm of our organization. We work with local non-profit organizations to fill needs not currently met by their own internal fundraising and efforts. We strive to impact the lives of everyone in our community from all walks of life through giving and volunteer service.

Signalink Serves partners with the Downtown Rescue Mission as a focal point for serving. The Mission serves our community through their darkest moments. Many are in need of a meal, a bed to sleep in, or shoes to wear in the middle of winter. We know the importance of ensuring that each person is treated with dignity, regardless of their circumstances. Our team takes pride in working within their facilities to prepare meals, organize clothing donations, fundraise for supplies, and help provide hope within our community. It is an honor to be partners with the Mission, and Signalink Serves values the opportunity to support such an remarkable organization.

LIFE RECOVERY PROGRAM

he Downtown Rescue Mission has many years of experience helping men and women in need. Our Life Recovery Program is a one year, faith-based, Biblecentered program broken into four three-month steps. Men and women 18 years old and older immerse themselves in God’s Word, live in community, and develop job skills. The men and women in the program are provided shelter, meals, clothing, laundry services, internet access, counseling, and program materials at no charge. The goal is real life

We address the difficult problems of life such as drug addiction, alcoholism, broken families, unhealthy relationships, and past emotional and physical abuse.

Through Biblical teaching and counseling, we show residents how to break the cycle of self-destruction by being fully involved in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His community of believers. We believe that everyone must first know Christ, fall in love with the Savior, and then learn to obey Him through this love.

They learn how to apply God’s Word to their lives for real transformation. It is this growing relationship with Christ that will lead a person to accept responsibility, and not rely on drugs, alcohol, or any other faulty substitute for real joy, meaning, and peace. We seek to restore broken families and help men and women develop healthy relationships.

We also equip each person with life skills, including resume writing, money management, and good job

performance so that residents will find meaningful, sustainable employment and housing.

Discipleship groups (or D-groups) are formed to provide deep interaction with God’s word and relationships of trust for accountability, growth, and real change. Group member study the Bible together, hold each other accountable, memorize scripture, and prayer for one another.

During the last step, men and women are expected to find part-time employment to begin the transition to a healthy, productive life. Our Thrift Stores provide an excellent option for work while continuing to receive the support needed to become successful.

Transportation is provided to meet essential needs including local medical and legal needs.

After completing the program, men and women have the opportunity for continued housing by staying in one of our transitional housing units located on campus as they work towards saving enough to fully transition away from the Mission.
