Two Decades. It’s hard to fathom doing anything for twenty years, but here we are. 20 years of beer, 20 years of making each year better, building on the last, and we thank you for making it all possible!

What started off as a little get together for about 250 people has blossomed into a huge community event that draws folks from all over the Midwest. Last year, the first tickets sold were to folks from North Dakota, so we’ve found something that brings in people from near and far. Our brewers know that you, our Iowa City Brewfest faithful, are some of the besteducated beer lovers in the country. We were one of the first festivals in the Midwest, and your support and thirst for new and different beers has been the reason for our success.

This is the fifth year of Brewfest being part of the Northside Oktoberfest, and it has done wonders for our neighborhood. Please stop in and take a look at some of Iowa City’s hidden gems, as there are so many unique businesses that make up the Northside Market Place.

From some of the best dining in the state, to iconic businesses that make Iowa City known around the world, we’ve got a little bit of everything! If you don’t get the opportunity to see them today, please stop back. It will be well worth your time!

Every year, we do our best to improve your experience, and this year our new wrinkle is the “Real Ale” Contest. For those lucky Brewmaster ticket holders, you get to participate as an official beer judge. So carefully taste and compare them, judge them and pick your favorite!

It’s a dirty job to be a beer judge, but we know you’re up to the challenge!

In the past 20 years, we’ve also done a lot of good for a whole bunch of people and groups.

Over $250,000 has been raised for groups like the Children’s Miracle Network, Variety Club, Iowa City Hospice, the Englert Theater, the American Heart Association, Iowa Children’s Museum, and Horrace Mann Elementary PTO just to name a few. This year we’re spreading the wealth out even more, so many different organizations and clubs can take part in and reap the benefit from our little event. Your entry fee has done a lot for our community, so on behalf of all of the folks that you have helped by attending, we say a great big THANK YOU! Here’s to the next 20 years!

Big Grove Brewery Shuttle Bus Grab a seat on the Big Grove Brewery bus shuttle! This year Big Grove from Solon, Iowa has partnered with Northside Oktoberfest and Brick’s in Cedar Rapids to provide a bus shuttle from Cedar Rapids, to Solon, down to the festival and back for those of you without a designated driver or just want to head out to Big Grove Brewery or Brick’s. This schedule will allow people to take the bus system to the festival or get a ride to a convenient location and avoid driving.

Please note the bus is complimentary but will be first come, first serve.

The Do’s and Don’ts of the Northside Oktoberfest DO

New for the 2015 festival, everyone can come in and enjoy the festival (only those with tickets and wristbands can drink)- this means your D.D.s are FREE this year! IF your D.D. gets thirsty, buy them a mug for soda samples on N Linn St. In addition to the buses, cab services will be available in the area.

DO bring the whole family. There is no age requirement for

having but, but remember only 21+ get to drink. A valid ID will be required for wristbands

smoking (including electronic cigarettes) permitted by state and city law in the Oktoberfest area. If you must smoke, mosey over to an area outside of the festival.

DON’T take alcohol outside of the festival area. You don’t want to find out what happens when you do!
