A note from the Church Secretary..... Dear Friends, A Happy and Peaceful new year to everybody. The year has started for us with the good news that Mr Trevor Hahn has agreed to accept ministry with us. Clacton URC will have 75% of Trevor’s time and we will have 25%. He hopes to commence some work with us in July. His wife and children will join him at their new home in Clacton at the end of July – that will enable the children to finish the term at their present school. The plans for his ordination service will be available later. Our God is the God of past present and future and his promise and presence is with us for ever. Hopefully our covenant prayer will help us all throughout this year.
Iris
The Covenant Prayer I am no longer my own but yours. Your will, not mine, be done in all things, wherever you may place me, in all that I do and all I may endure; when there is work for me and when there is none; when I am troubled and when I am at peace. Your will be done when I am valued and when I am disregarded; when I find fulfilment and when it is lacking; when I have all things, and when I have nothing. I willingly offer all I have and am to serve you, as and where you choose. Glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, you are mine and I am yours. May it be so for ever. Let this covenant now made on earth be fulfilled in heaven. Amen.

Pilots have begun 2014 by journeying and we are following the travels of Jesus, as well as our own individual journeys through life. This journey will include prayers, talents and service concluding with our Pilot celebration service on the 29th. June 2014. As part of this journey we shall be journeying to London and a visit to St. Paul’s cathedral on Saturday 14th. June 2014. This day will be an open invitation to family members to join us and we invite any of our church family too. We are planning to travel by train and I am looking to make group booking for train fares and the cathedral. Further details and cost will follow, but to assist with planning please let me know if you would like to join us. Pilots will meet on: 7th. 14th & 28th. February 2014 (There will be no meeting on the 21st. February as this is half-term week from school) Margaret Smith Pilot Captain

Slow me down, LORD, Ease the pounding of my heart by the quieting of my mind. Steady my hurried pace with a vision of the eternal reach of time. Give me, amid the confusion of the day, the calmness of the everlasting hills. Break the tensions of my nerves and muscles with the soothing music of the singing streams that live in my memory. Help me to know the magical, restoring power of sleep. Teach me the art of taking minute vacations of slowing down to look at a flower, to chat with a friend, to pat a dog, to read a few lines from a good book. Slow me down, Lord, and inspire me to send my roots deep into the soil of life's enduring values that I may grow toward the stars of my greater destiny."
"Slow Me Down, Lord"
Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer. Gratefully, in Jesus' name, amen." Mark 6:31 (NIV). Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest. 7
