west texas jackalopes The Jackalopes season will be defined on how they replace their star QBs. Johnny Football and Zach Mettenberger are now gone to the NFL and coming into the season the only QB on the roster is Kyle Pohl, the Junior QB from Akron. Pohl was entrenched as the starter for the Zips last season, however his stats weren’t as strong in terms of starting fantasy quarterbacks. Look for West Texas to recruit a QB early in this year’s draft. The running back position is going to need to be the foundation of the Jackalopes’ roster this season. Led by studs Jay Ajayi from Boise State and a Chippewa in Saylor Lavallii. Ajayi rushed for 1425 yards and 18 touchdowns. The Bronco also added 22 catches and a touchdown to an already impressive stat line. Outside of an impressive Mohawk, Lavallii put up over 800 yards on the ground and hit pay dirt 5 times. He slowed down towards the end of the season, only topping the 15 yard plateau once in his last four games.

Returning LEADERS

West Texas has a plethora of bodies coming back at the wideout position, highlighted by Sammie Coates of Auburn. A sleeper could be Jonathan Williams, a sophomore WR from Wake Forest. Someone has to step up and take the place of Michael Campanaro, and he could be that guy. The Jackalopes have traditionally strong units, highlighted by the Texas Longhorn defense and the defense from Provo, Utah. Those units will need to be strong again for West Texas to compete for a conference championship. -Thad McKinnon 118
