PURE Cleaning Have you ever wondered why your commercial furniture polish has lemon in it, or why your floor cleaner is scented with pine?

A long time ago, we discovered that certain naturally occurring elements have beneficial qualities for cleaning and disinfecting. Citrus oils like grapefruit and lime are natural degreasers. Lemon oil works wonders on wood surfaces and coniferous oils, such as pine and spruce naturally freshen and deodorise the air.

Over time, these naturally effective, powerhouse oils have been diluted with chemicals and other additives, making some commercial cleaning products potentially hazardous to our health.

PURE Cleaning DIYs & Recipes

LAUNDRY POWDER Provided by Maya Giampa, @illuminate_withmaya Ingredients • 1 bar unscented castile soap, grated finely • 1 cup washing soda • 1 cup baking soda • ½ cup coarse sea salt • ¼ cup citric acid • 15 drops of Purify® Refreshing Blend essential oil • 10 drops of Grapefruit essential oil Method Mix all ingredients together. Add a scoop to your wash.

TIP If you remove the castile soap, this can also be used as a dishwashing powder.

DISHWASHER DETERGENT TABLETS Ingredients: • • • •

Ingredients 1 cup baking soda ¼ cup citric acid 1 tablespoon On Guard® Cleaner Concentrate • 5 drops Grapefruit essential oil Method Put baking soda, citric acid, On Guard® Cleaner Concentrate, and Grapefruit essential oil in a mixing bowl. Mix together until the mixture is an even consistency.

Place in silicone molds and let sit for four hours. Remove tabs.

Store in an airtight container.

Use in dishwasher in place of storebought dishwasher tablets.

TIP Adding one cup white vinegar to the rinsing agent compartment in your dishwasher will help ensure that your glassware comes out of the dishwasher sparkling!

OVEN CLEANER Provided by Maya Giampa, @illuminate_withmaya Ingredients • ¾ cup baking soda • 3 tablespoons water • 2 tablespoons On Guard® Cleaner Concentrate • 8 drops Lemon essential oil • White vinegar Method Fill glass spray bottle with white vinegar. Place rest of ingredients in a bowl and mix to make a paste. Place the paste on the oven door and leave for 10 minutes. Spray with the vinegar. It will slightly fizz. Wait another 5 minutes, then wipe clean with a sponge.

STAINLESS STEEL CLEANER Ingredients • ½ cup white vinegar • 6 drops Lemon essential oil

Method Fill spray bottle with both ingredients.

Spray onto stainless steel appliances and wipe following the grain of the steel.

SURFACE CLEANER Ingredients • 1 cup water • 8 drops On Guard® Protective Blend Method Mix all ingredients in spray bottle.

Shake bottle each time before use.

WINDOW CLEANER Ingredients: • 1 cup white vinegar • 1 cup water • 10 drops Lemon essential oil Method Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle.

Spray on glass and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.

WASHING MACHINE CLEANER — WEEKLY WIPE DOWN Ingredients • ¾ cup white vinegar • 10 drops Tea Tree essential oil • 5 drops Grapefruit essential oil Method In a glass spray bottle, combine all ingredients. Shake well and spray the

solution around the seal (the rubber at the front), drum, and door of your washing machine.

Wipe out the seal, drum, and door with a cloth and let dry completely before doing a batch of laundry.

Using a soft cloth, thoroughly wipe down. Remove your soap dispenser tray. Spray and wipe down, then put it back.

Remove and clean the filter at the bottom of the machine if your washer has one.

Let air dry before you do the next batch of laundry.

TIP For top-loader washers, you can use this same recipe to wipe down the drum and outside of your washer.

WASHING MACHINE CLEANER — THE DEEP CLEAN Ingredients • • • •

½ teaspoon natural dish soap 4 tablespoons washing soda 1 cup white vinegar 20 drops Tea Tree essential oil

Method - Phase One: Remove tray dispenser and fully submerge in hot water with natural dish soap. Scrub away residue with a toothbrush, rinse and put back in the machine.

Put washing soda in the drum. Using the hottest setting on your washer or the 'tub clean' cycle on certain models, run your machine.

Method - Phase Two: After the cycle finishes, pour vinegar and essential oils into your liquid dispenser. Run your washer using the 'tub clean' cycle or hottest setting again.

TIP If you have a top-loader, use the same recipe for deep cleaning, but add the washing soda to a drum full of hot water. For phase two, pour the vinegar directly in the drum.

LEMON & TEA TREE TOILET FIZZER Provided by Maya Giampa, @illuminate_withmaya

SOFT SCRUB FOR BATH, TILES & TOILET Ingredients • ¾ cup baking soda • ¼ cup unscented liquid castile soap • 1 tablespoon distilled water • 1 tablespoon white vinegar • 5-10 drops Lemon essential oil Method In a bowl, combine baking soda and castile soap. Add water and stir.

Add vinegar and Lemon essential oil.

The consistency should be a soft paste.

Store in an airtight container for 2 weeks.

½ cup baking soda ¼ cup citric acid 10 drops Lemon essential oil 5 drops Tea Tree essential oil 10-15 spritzes of water from spray bottle

Method Add all ingredients together in bowl and mix thoroughly. Pack firmly into silicone molds and let dry 12 hours.

Once dry, pop out of molds. Store in glass container.

To use, simply drop one into toilet.

Once it’s completely finished fizzing, scrub with toilet brush.

CLEANING WIPES Ingredients • 1 roll premium paper towels • 2 cups warm water • 2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil • 3 drops On Guard® Protective Blend • 3 drops Lemon essential oil • 2 tablepoons On Guard® Foaming Hand Wash Method Cut roll of towel in half. Place one half of paper towels in an air tight container. In a bowl, combine all the ingredients. Pour mixture over the paper towel half roll and let absorb.

Remove cardboard tube. Pull wipes from the centre when ready.

PURE Cleaning DIYs & Recipes

MULTI-PURPOSE CLEANING SPRAY Ingredients • 1 tablespoon On Guard® Cleaner Concentrate or castile soap • 15 drops Lemon essential oil • 7 drops Basil essential oil • ½ cup white vinegar • Cooled, boiled water Method Mix the Basil and Lemon essential oils with the On Guard® Cleaner Concentrate in a 500mL glass spray bottle. Top the bottle with the vinegar and the cooled, boiled water. Shake well before each use.

FRIDGE REFRESHERS Ingredients: • 2 ½ cups baking soda • ½–1 cup water • 15 drops Purify® Refreshing Blend essential oil Method Combine baking soda, ½ cup water, and essential oils into bowl.

Stir together.

NOTE If needed, add more water until a thick paste forms. The mixture should resemble damp sand. Divide mixture equally into silicone mold.

Allow it to rest for two to three days or until mixture hardens.

Once hard, place in refrigerator to help eliminate unpleasant odours.

Store additional fridge refreshers in an airtight container until ready to use.

One disk will last up to a month in your fridge.

PURIFY MAGIC SPONGE Ingredients: • • • • •

1 melamine sponge 1 tablespoon baking soda 1 teaspoon borax ½ cup hot water 3 drops Purify® Refreshing Blend

Method Add baking soda, borax, hot water, and Purify® Refreshing Blend oil to a glass container and mix until dissolved.

Place melamine sponge into the mixture and press firmly to absorb the liquid.

To use, remove sponge, gently wring out excess liquid, and start cleaning.

When finished, simply rinse off sponge with clean, cold water and return to glass container with cleaning mixture.

CARPET CLEANSE DIY Provided by Chayma Jebara, @everyday_with_chay • 1 cup bi-carb soda • 10 drops Tea Tree essential oil • 10 drops Purify® Refreshing Blend Method Vacuum your carpets. Add all ingredients to a salt shaker (or similar) and shake evenly onto carpet. Use your hand or a clean brush to distribute the powder deeper into the carpet fibres.

Let sit for one hour.

Vacuum remaining residue thoroughly.

HOMEMADE FABRIC SOFTENING SPRAY Ingredients • 475mL white vinegar • 10–15 drops Lavender or Geranium essential oil Method Add essential oils to a glass spray bottle. Fill the remaining space with warm white vinegar. Shake well before each use to ensure oils and vinegar are well combined.

To use, spray over wet clothing before drying.

FRUIT & VEGETABLE WASH Ingredients • 1 cup white vinegar • 5 drops Lemon essential oil Method Fill sink with water and mix in vinegar and Lemon essential oil. Add fruit and vegetables & leave for 5 minutes. Rinse fruit and vegetables.

POST CLEANING MASSAGE BLEND Ingredients • 30mL of Fractionated Coconut Oil • 10 drops of Black Spruce essential oil • 4 drops of Rosemary essential oil • 4 drops of Peppermint essential oil Method Add all ingredients to a glass bottle and gently shake to combine. Massage into the places that need a little care.

LINEN SPRAY DIY

DIY CAR DIFFUSER

ESSENTIAL POTPOURRI

Ingredients • 30mL spray bottle • 10mL witch hazel (to help disperse the essential oils as water and oil don’t mix) • 10mL distilled water • 15 drops of Lavender Peace™ Restful Blend or dōTERRA Adaptiv™ Tranquil Blend.

Method Combine all ingredients and lightly spray onto your linen as part of your evening bedtime ritual.

NATURAL AIR FRESHENER Ingredients • ¼ cup baking soda • 5–6 drops favourite essential oil Method Put ¼ cup baking soda into a small jar.

Add five to six drops of your favourite dōTERRA essential oil or blend.

Put a piece of fabric on jar and seal with jar band.

To keep an area smelling fresh, place jar on a solid surface and shake often to activate the fresh scent.

If scent starts to fade, simply add two to three drops of dōTERRA essential oil to jar.

7-8 wool felt balls Thread Ribbon or twine Purify® Refreshing Blend

Thread a large sewing needle with enough thread for seven to eight felt balls. Pierce through the center of each wool felt ball until you have enough to make a complete circle.

Knot the thread between the connecting wool felt balls to form a circle.

Cut a length of ribbon or twine long enough to fit over your rearview mirror.

Thread it through the circle and tie it off at the top. Cut off any excess twine or ribbon.

• Choose your ingredients from: orange peels, star anise, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom seeds, dried apple slices, candied ginger, whole cloves, all spice, whole nutmeg. Cut into small pieces where appropriate.

• Pick one oil or create a blend from Cinnamon Bark essential oil, Cassia essential oil, On Guard® Protective Blend, Vetiver essential oil, Wild Orange essential oil, Clove essential oil, Ginger essential oil or Cardamom essential oil.

Method Place desired herbs and spices into a container or bowl. Mix and assemble as desired.

Hang your new DIY car oil diffuser in your car.

Add 3–5 drops of essential oil on top of potpourri.

When you want to change the environment in your car to uplift, energise, or calm you, add a drop of your preferred essential oil(s) to each ball. Get creative and use a few different oils at one time for a unique scent.

TIP Potpourri makes a great present to neighbours, friends, and co-workers during the holidays. Just place in a decorative box with a bottle of essential oil.

After a couple of weeks, the aroma will start to fade. Add a few more drops to revive its scent.

PURE Protection Whether lounging on the deck, hiking in the woods or sitting around the campfire, bugs are a part of life, especially throughout the summer months. And while we don’t love their little thorax’s buzzing around our heads while we’re trying to relax, we sometimes have to weigh up what’s worse – spraying an insect repellent or simply putting up with the annoyance.

Most insect repellents smell abhorrent. And there is controversy over their safety, especially those containing synthetic ingredients. But most commercial insect repellents also contain natural oils, including Eucalyptus, Citronella and Tea Tree. So, why complicate things with extra toxic burden?

Method Combine all ingredients into a 500mL spray bottle. Spray onto the leaves and stems of plants. Spray on the soil surrounding the plants and garden bed, avoiding the roots. Repeat weekly or as needed to remove pests.

Shake well before use.

INSECT REPELLENT Ingredients • • • •

15-20 drops Tea Tree essential oil 15-20 drops Citronella essential oil 15-20 drops Eucalyptus essential oil 4-5 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil • Cooled, boiled water Method Combine all ingredients into a 500mL spray bottle. Fill almost to the top with cooled, boiled water. Spray over body every 3 to 4 hours. Shake well before each use.

Method Fill a 500mL spray bottle 3/4’s full with the apple cider vinegar. Add the rest of the ingredients in the spray bottle.

Spray mixture around the home and outside the perimeter to deter flies.

Shake well before use.

BUG BITE TREATMENT Ingredients • • • •

10mL glass roller bottle 5 drops Lavender essential oil 5 drops Tea Tree essential oil Fractionated Coconut Oil

Method Put Lavender and Tea Tree essential oils into the glass roller bottle. Top with the Fractionated Coconut Oil. Roll over bites to soothe skin and help with itching as required.

BRIGHTENING GRAPEFRUIT FACIAL SCRUB Ingredients: • • • •

½ cup fine, granulated sugar 5–7 drops Grapefruit essential oil 5 drops Lavender essential oil 3 tablespoons avocado oil

Method Mix all ingredients in a bowl. To exfoliate skin, apply a small amount of scrub to your face. Use light pressure to spread the scrub in circular motions.

Be careful to avoid the delicate area around the eyes. Rinse with warm water and dry gently with a clean towel. This scrub can be preserved in the refrigerator for up to a week.

This recipe makes enough for about five facial scrubs or can be used as an all-over body scrub.

EASY ANTI-FRIZZ SPRAY Ingredients: • 2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil • 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel • ½ cup distilled water • 5–10 drops Lavender oil Method Combine all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake thoroughly before each use. Spray a thin layer on dry hair after styling to tame fly aways and control frizz. Shake well before each use.

MAKEUP BRUSH CLEANSER Ingredients: • 2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil • 5 drops Tea Tree essential oil • 5 drops Grapefruit essential oil Method Add Fractionated Coconut Oil and essential oils into a small bowl.

Swirl your brush in the Fractionated Coconut Oil for 30 seconds, or until you see the makeup stored in your brush start to come out. Rub in a circular motion on the palm of hand to help get the makeup out.

MAKEUP REMOVER WIPES Ingredients: • 2 tablespoons witch hazel • 2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil • 2 tablespoons distilled water • 1–2 drops Tea Tree essential oil • Roll of paper towels Method Combine witch hazel, Fractionated Coconut Oil, and water in a small bowl and stir. Add Tea Tree essential oil.

Use a serrated knife to cut the roll of paper towels in half, widthwise and remove tube from one half. Put the half without the tube in an airtight container, then pour the solution all over the roll. Replace lid and shake. To use, pull wipes from centre and apply to face.

Rinse the brush under warm water.

Gently squeeze brush bristles until clean, and the water runs clear.

Store in a cool, dry place and use within three months.

Let your newly cleaned makeup brushes dry on a towel for 4 hours, or until dry. Repeat once a month, or as needed.

GRAPEFRUIT ESSENTIAL OIL SHOWER MELTS

TIP Make sure to point the bristles down when running your brushes under water. Direct water contact may loosen the glue where the bristles are attached and reduce the lifespan of your brushes.

Ingredients • 1 cup cornstarch • 2+ tablespoons distilled water • 5–7 drops Grapefruit essential oil Method Add the Grapefruit essential oil and corn starch to a bowl. Mix well. It will look like a crumbly powder.

Pour in the two tablespoons of distilled water. Continue to mix. Clumps will begin to form.

Continue adding a few drops of water at a time, mixing well. Once you have a thick paste, transfer the mixture to your mini ice cube tray. Smooth out flat.

Freeze the contents for an hour or until the mixture is set.

NOTE These bubbles are not going to provide big fluffy bubbles that last a long time since it doesn't contain the synthetic ingredients that create the high amounts of lather or foam.

However, this chemical-free bath will provide enough bubbles for a relaxing bath you’ll enjoy even more.

When you want to use a shower melt, place one on the floor of the shower and turn on the water. As the water stream hits the cube, it’ll begin to dissolve, and the aroma of Grapefruit essential oil will fill the air.

LAVENDER EUCALYPTUS BATH SALTS

TIP You don’t need to leave the shower melts frozen. Once they’re set, you can place them in a jar and store them in a cool and dry place. However, if your cubes seem runny, you can store them in the freezer instead and try a little less water the next time you make them.

ESSENTIAL OIL BUBBLE BATH Ingredients: • • • •

1 cup unscented castile soap ½ cup vegetable glycerin 2 tablespoons water 15 drops preferred dōTERRA essential oil

1 cup Epsom Salt ¼ cup coconut oil 5 drops Lavender essential oil 6 drops Eucalyptus essential oil

Combine Epsom salt, coconut oil, Lavender essential oil and Eucalyptus essential oil.

Mix ingredients together. Store in container of choice.

TIP Try swapping out these essential oils for your personal favourites.

Method Combine castile soap, glycerin, and water into glass bowl. Add essential oils. Stir until well combined. Pour into glass container. To use, add ¼–½ cup of the essential oil bubble bath mixture to warm, running bath water.

¼ cucumber 1 basil leaf Sparkling water Honey or agave nectar 1 drop Basil and Lemon essential oils • Fresh cucumber for garnish Method In a blender, blend cucumber and basil leaf. Pour blended mix into a glass and top with sparkling water. Drizzle honey or agave nectar, add Lemon and Basil essential oils and stir to mix. Garnish with fresh cucumber.

Cranberry juice Sparkling water Ice cubes 4 drops Lime essential oil Cranberries and lime to garnish

Method Fill a glass jug to 3/4s full with the cranberry juice. Fill the remaining 1/4 with sparkling water. Add the ice cubes and Lime essential oil. Garnish with the cranberries and lime.

2 scoops lemon sorbet 2 scoops raspberry sorbet Soda water 1 drop Lemon essential oil 1 drop Lime essential oil Fresh lemon and mint to garnish

Method Place lemon and raspberry sorbet in glass. Top with the soda water and lemon and lime essential oils. Garnish with the lemon and mint leaves.

Method Combine all ingredients and serve very cold. Adjust ratios to taste.

Method Put all ingredients into a blender.

Blend until smooth.

Your choice of the following fruits: • 1 package raspberries, 1 lemon, 1 lime, 1 orange, 1 grapefruit, 1 package basil leaves, 1 package mint leaves, 1 package strawberries, 1 small watermelon • Your choice of the following essential oils: Lemon essential oil, Wild Orange essential oil, Lime essential oil, Grapefruit essential oil, Peppermint essential oil, Lavender essential oil, Basil essential oil.

1–2 tablespoons ginger, juiced 3 lemons, juiced 3–5 drops Lemon essential oil 1 cup water ⅓ cup honey 1 cup ice

Method Juice lemons and ginger. To juice ginger, add ginger pieces to a juicer or a blender. Blend or juice. Separate pulp from the juice with a cheesecloth.

Method

Combine all ingredients. Mix well.

Cut your chosen fruit into small pieces, and place pieces into a metal or silicon ice cube tray.

Chill in the fridge until ready to serve.

Add 1–2 drops of essential oils per ice cube slot. Add water and place into freezer.

Once frozen, add to beverage for a fun flavour combination.

TIP Why not try these combinations? raspberry & lemon; orange, lemon & lime; lavender & lemon; lime & mint; grapefruit & basil; strawberry & lemon; watermelon & lime or lemon & lime.

TIP For added sweetness, a touch of raw honey or maple syrup can be added. Alternatively, soak 2-3 medjool dates in 1 cup of pure water for 2 hours.

Use the soaking water as a part of the liquids in the drink.
