apas National High School showcases the school’s innovation entitled Project KITE (Knowledge, Integration Technology Education), developed and designed by Dr. Yolanda M. Gonzales, Principal IV, in the T4 World Education on February 21 via Zoom and Facebook Live streaming. T4 Education is a global organization that delivers engaging tools, initiatives, and events for teachers and schools to improve education.

its theme, “School Celebration.” which aims to celebrate schools worldwide that have developed significant expertise that other teachers and schools around the world can emulate. Gobi Daniel, Intern at T4 education, open the first session of the global showcase event. Dr. Yolanda M. Gonzales, Principal IV, and Dr. Mark Anthony C. Pimentel, Assistant Principal II of Capas National High School, are the keynote speakers at this international event. They discussed Project Kite and presented Capas National High School’s academic programs, the professionalism of the teachers, the high level

of support of the parents and stakeholders, and the brightness of its learners. Moreover, Dr. Manny L. Isip, the event moderator and Head Teacher III of CNHS, together with Dr. Ryan G. De Guia, Master Teacher, and Media Specialist, assisted in the conduct of the session. Furthermore, the session includes a live panel with Vikas Pota, Minu Melwani (India) Jesutomi Arowobusoye (Nigeria), and Wendell Cabrera (Philippines). Notwithstanding its online conduct, the event has drawn students’ and teachers’ attention as they determinedly asked questions producing a vigorous discussion.

nother victory for Capas National High School-SHS Department as it was awarded first place in the 2021 Regional Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Curriculum and Instruction- Most Focused Senior High School during the 2021 Regional PRAISE Gawad Patnugot Awards Ceremony held at Hacienda Gracia Resort and Hotel Sta Maria, Lubao, Pampanga, December 10. The Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Curriculum and Instruction (SAFE-CI) encourages creativity, innovativeness, integrity, and productivity in public service. It also aims to showcase the best-learning-focused and innovative practices among DepEd units, officials, and employees and the effective implementation of School-Based Management in every school. apas National High School holds Best Community-School-Home Partnership Award in the 2021 National Brigada Eskwela Special Awards held at the Iloilo Convention Center on June 20.

Doubled the success, Capas National High School also bagged the Brigada Eskwela 2021 Best Implementing Award-Mega Category.

The 2021 Brigada Eskwela, with its theme, “Bayanihan Para sa Paaralan,” aspires to acknowledge the teachers, parents, and learners’ efforts in implementing the 2021 Brigada Eskwela program. It speaks of the collaborative efforts of the school and community in equipping the learners with the best education amidst the challenges and hesitations of face-to-face classes brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Edgardo G. All Division winners in each contest category will represent the Division of Tarlac for the Regional Conduct and Virtual Launching of Project Game.

pecial Program in Foreign Language Nihongo teachers Neptali M. Sicat and Eduard Cruz will join the Immersion Program in Japan on August 15-26, 2022. It is a culminating activity of the public high school Nihongo teachers in the Philippines after they underwent a series of intensive and follow-through trainings including passing of \Japanese Language Requirement Test that was conducted in collaboration by the Department of Education of the Philippines and the Japan Foundation, Manila (JFM).

This immersion program develops the participants’ high level of Japanese language proficiency among the teachers and students to prepare the latter for higher education and employment by

developing their competence in a second foreign language, and by enhancing their ability to engage in meaningful interaction in a linguistically and culturally diverse society.

Further, during the immersion, there are four major activities that they will engage into: (1) Center Orientation, (2) Japanese school visitation, (3) Home visitation –flower arrangement, traditional music and dance, tea ceremony and (4) Field work in Saitama, Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan.

Through visits to Japanese educational institutions and cultural facilities, this training aims to deepen knowledge about Japanese society and culture, and to collect materials and information for creating supplementary teaching materials to be used at respective Japanese language classes in the Philippines.

elody Ann B. Molina, JHS English and Mandarin teacher of Capas National High School, won 3rd place in the United Nations International Language Day, Mandarin & I Vlog Competition organized

by Confucius Institute-Angeles University Foundation on April 11.

The competition aims to help local Chinese teachers and learners showcase their Mandarin skills and highlight their experiences with the Mandarin language through a video open to all DepEd SPFLChinese Mandarin teachers and BSED-CLT students. Molina started teaching Mandarin in 2016. She completed a 2-year Mandarin Training at CI-AUF and a month-long intensive training and immersion at Fujian Normal University in Fuzhou, China, in 2018. She also passed the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, or Chinese Proficiency and Speaking Test. According to Molina, her training allowed her to be more comfortable using the Mandarin language. “I am taking a Master of Education in Chinese Language Teaching at Angeles University Foundation. There must be a continuous study to master the Mandarin language,” she emphasized.

Meanwhile, some participants in the said competition include Tarlac National High School, San Francisco National High School Manila, Castillejos NHS NE, Molopolo NHS Davao, and others.

Dean ranked first in the 2021 Chinese Microteaching Competition, 9th National Conference on Teaching Chinese Mandarin as a Foreign Language in the Philippines on December 10 via Zoom. Dean discussed “Serial Verbs Phrases with Focus on Purposes.”

The competition strives to inspire the SPFL-Chinese Mandarin teachers to design creative teaching approaches that would manage the demands of the learners, especially during the pandemic. She started her topic by providing simple Chinese sentence patterns. She utilized visual graphics to display the concepts of the examples.

In an interview, Dean mentioned that this work was made easy with the support of the school administration and staff particularly Dr. Mariolito G. Magcalas, Principal IV of Capas National High School and Ma’am Ladelaine W. Anunciacion, Head Teacher VI of the English Department. “I am blessed to have everyone’s help during this competition and with that I am incredibly grateful,” she added.

Spiking Oil prices affect the prices of everything

s far as 2022 has gone, the oil price also went up. Increasing by around P2.00 to around P4.00 per liter, making this year’s oil price rise to at least P26.55 per liter. Filipinos are unhappy with the price increase that keeps happening this year. While in the government’s defense, they said that the price increase would be felt only in three months, leaving the poor to hit rock bottom.

With oil prices increasing, some households’ regular income would provide less food. The previous grocery budget can last a family for a month or two, but if the price increases, it can only offer a family for two weeks. Jeepney drivers with little profit will have a more challenging time providing needs for their families. Also, people with insufficient income can only make a living by operating a transportation system. With the oil price increasing rapidly, people like them will have difficulty sustaining their families and themselves.

Moreover, the oil price increase can slow tourism because people will have difficulty buying oil to fill their gas tanks.

People would choose to avoid heeding occasions or postpone plans of traveling to tourist sites. They would spend their hardearned money only on basic needs and save the rest in their

Because our perspectives on ourselves and others as gendered, sexual beings change over time and in different settings, gender awareness should be viewed as a process.

he number of sexually exploited children online rapidly increases as more users of younger ages gain more internet access. A study by the International Justice Mission in 2017 shows that the Philippines has been a global hotspot for the online sexual exploitation of children, with IP addresses used for OSEC jumping from 43 out of every 10,000 in 2014 to 149 out of every 10,000 in 2017.

The growth rate of victims shows no signs of decreasing soon, with the internet becoming a platform for predators to sexually exploit children. Children often get victimized by this because of the validation the predator gives them; parents or loved ones might lack in providing them with this prospect, so they seek it from somewhere else. The threat of their sexual media being publicized is also one of the reasons why children hide that they’re being sexually exploited.

It’s aggravating how some take advantage of children for their own pleasure, though we can only keep our children safe from them.

Guardians should keep a closer eye on children, and schools should teach them internet safety to prevent online abuse from happening. Kids are gullible, so it’s important to inform them that the internet can be a dangerous place at a young age.

ollowing the results of the 2022 Presidential Elections, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio proposes the mandatory implementation of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).

After stating her plans to add two more years of military training to the educational curriculum following Senior High School, students voice their concerns and opposition regarding this topic.

The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps is a two-year program wherein Filipinos 18 years old and above undergo military training after Senior High School. It’s an optional collegiate program after University of Santo Tomas student Mark Chua was killed after exposing the corruption and abuse in the university’s program back in 2002. Duterte-Carpio also clarified that her proposal would be different from the current ROTC program, in which students learn basic military training units. That said, most Filipinos are not too fond of it no longer being voluntary.

The Filipino youth worry that they might experience the abuse that happened in past ROTC units. Many also remain uneasy as two additional years of education will not be in favor of financially struggling families. Among students, youth groups like the Kabataan Partylist also remain opposed to mandatory ROTC. It is a “clear threat to academic and press freedom,” according to the College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP)-Davao, and yet another way to heighten surveillance, red-tagging, and harassment against youth groups and campus journalists. The Association of Pre-Law Students of the University of the Philippines (UP)-Mindanao also comments on this program, saying it “promotes a culture of sexism and discrimination towards the LGBT student community because of the fascist and machismo system it encourages.”

His position is that it should not just be military training but to develop of a corps of individuals who can assist the government during disasters. Although having a trained set of several individuals benefits the country, it is not beneficial for students. ROTC units’ environment is deemed harmful for Filipino youth as it promotes violence and abuse of power. We might not end up with trained individuals with military experience but rather several traumatized Filipinos who experienced abuse in many ways than one.

oining the several faces filled with joy, I display a gleeful expression as I read through the post on my screen.

Though some seem skeptical about the sudden announcement, I remain pleased with the information about the suspension of classes for two weeks. This gives students enough time to rest and cool down before the rapid surge of schoolwork haunts them again.

No one expected the storm to envelop humankind, nor were they ready. Two weeks turned into a month, and a month turned into a year. With hundreds of people dying by the second, millions hold onto every bit of hope that they have — keeping a strong mental fortitude, fighting through this battle hand in hand. Meanwhile, others fight on the front lines, working day and night at hospitals and healthcare sites.

Some work to reduce the crime rate in as many areas as possible, and to provide an environment that’s safe and sound. All collectively operate with resilience as government officials guide countries to ensure that we conquer this battlefield in the end.

The light at the end of the tunnel continues to brighten, albeit slowly.

I watch in the shadows as I see more people outside, taking back what the pandemic stole from them all those months ago. I inwardly thank the people who fought so hard for this moment to see those faces filled to the brim with joy, replacing the sorrow they once bore. After endless hours of tending to COVID-19 patients, the number of cases begins to simmer daily. Schools are starting to return to the face-to-face modality after resorting to online classes for two years. Malls and other public places are starting to allow more people in, and vaccinations for children are also available. Thanks to the undying determination of our modern-day heroes, humankind continues to dwell in our home we love so dearly. There were some repercussions along the way, but we continue to fight with perseverance to protect our future. Our heroes may not wear capes, but wear PPEs and uniforms, who all deserve to receive accolades for the love and passion they have shown us in our long-running battle against COVID-19. Their dedication and hard work will be in the history books, written to inform future generations of such feats these heroes had to endure to make sure we live to see another day.

t was the 11th of March 2020, the day when a pandemic was announced. This changed the lives of so many people, the world was in chaos, deaths and crying were everywhere. People were locked up in their houses eventually losing hope for everything to be fine again. Ever since that day, everything became online and students started doing online classes over the past two years. Although lots of people say that online class was a huge disadvantage to the students they also overlooked the advantages that are present.

improve their focus better and have self wellness. A lot of people also have improved their mindset for the past two years since they had a lot of time to think about the things that they are curious about and the mistakes that they did a long time ago. There are a lot of positive effects that happened during the two year break that individuals aren’t aware about, always look on the brighter side before deciding to look on the negative one since once you embraced the positive side there will be reasons for you not to give up once you looked on the dark side.

He inspires the students to pursue their journey no matter how difficult and sets an example on how to achieve one’s goal with determination. His recent and most outstanding accomplishment was being one of the speakers in the T4 Global Showcase, featuring CNHS’ Project Kite. Dr. Pimentel is also a chairperson and Radio broadcaster at Kasalo sa Radyo live via google meet and DZTC TRV Tarlac Channel 26. He was awarded the District Most Outstanding Head Teacher VI and Most Innovative Head Teacher in September 2021. With countless certificates of recognition, he showcases his honed skills and his desire for the improvement of Capas National High School. Moreover, Dr. Pimentel also designed an innovative project entitled Project Sibol (Sustainable Involvement and Building Opportunities for Livelihood), which aims to strengthen and innovate the implementation of Gulayan sa Paaralan program. His vision is to make CNHS an excellent institution of values formation and proficient knowledge. As a result, Capas National High School bags gold in the 2021 Regional Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Curriculum and Instruction- Most Focused Senior High School and will represent the region in the National SAFE-CI. Dr. Pimentel’s versatility and wits reward the school and the students. It’s undoubtedly true that when you have a heart that is willing to serve and is determined to give the students the best quality of education shall move mountains and make everything possible.

he Department of Health also known as DOH, released a public health advisory about the recent cases of Monkeypox that is detected within at least 12 countries around Europe, United States and the United Kingdom this May 2022. DOH wishes to inform the people about the disease that may possibly affect our country. As preparation to the possible outbreak of monkeypox, DOH is now working on the allocation of isolation facilities.

Monkeypox is an orthopoxvirus from the family Poxviridae and is a self-limited disease with common symptoms such as fever, swollen lymph nodes and rashes that can last for 2-4 weeks. The disease can be easily transmitted through having close contact with an infected person, animal, or any material contaminated with the virus. Since clinical features may be difficult to be distinguished, DOH has advised that

JULY- SEPTEMBER - Voice of the Truth

apas National High School hosted a Robot Exhibit to showcase the Electronic Class Outputs of 10-Diamond/STE on May 26, 2022. The showcase was open to all, especially other STE learners from grades 7 to 9, to ensure a better understanding of the subject.

The exhibit took place in the Science Laboratory, where the Grade 10 STE learners presented their projects and entertained the questions of the other students present in the exhibition.

The CNHS science laboratory was complete after the Robot Exhibition: A Showcasing of Electronics Output, worked by the 10-Diamond/STE students. The event does organize by Sir Edgar Porlucas, Ma’am Rowena Aldana, and several science teachers. STE students from different grades gathered around to have a peek at the mechanisms presented in the exhibit.

There are several prototypes on display in the exhibit. One of the most eye-catching ones is the heat detector, a machine containing a sensor that can determine heat. Its range depends on the intensity of the heat put into view. The other projects are a line follower robot that follows the line marked on the floor or whatever surface it is supposed to be on, a vacuum cleaner with an alcohol dispenser, and a firefighting robot.

he Philippines has administered at least 151,865,984 doses of COVID vaccines, according to the latest report of the Department of Health on June 5, 2022. (Covid-19 Tracker DOH website) Vaccination has been widely researched, asserting that high vaccination range rates are essential in preventing infectious diseases and that vaccinations have proven to decrease rates of diseases and sometimes result in the complete termination of conditions. There are still Filipinos who refused to get vaccinated.

It has already been evident how the COVID-19 pandemic shifted everything and is still influencing other key life factors as it still exists until now. Sadly, it altered how we worked, went to school, interacted with people, and our perspective on how we see the world - it took many lives. As it drastically elicited adverse aftermaths, the medical field had consistently fought over, research after research, and speedily created various innovations despite the unfamiliarity with the virus.

Naturally, the more uncertainties we are faced with, the more people would fall into precariousness and doubts. These things are all good, for they somewhat equate to one’s mindfulness and the communal responsibility not until they become the prime barrier to achieving a once again healthy environment.

This is predominantly observed as to how most people refused to get vaccinated last year as they fear something will happen, if anything, acquiring the virus is the only thing to be afraid of - and the actions

to fight it are the things we should heed.

Fortunately, this has changed as the efficacy and effectiveness of the implemented vaccinations were proven with the gradual lowering of COVID-19 cases. However, to ultimately seek our way out of the ‘new normal life,’ everyone should be immunized.

The contagious strains of the virus spread more quickly than other disease variants. This becomes crucial and infects more people. Nonetheless, the best possible solution is to be protected against the disease, one way or another. At the end of the day, if we aim for a drastic good change, we have to do it collectively.

New Clark City (NCC) is now known across the world, last June 11, 2022 NCC finaly hosted the country’s first ever Spartan Stadtion. The sports stadium was barely opened last pandemic some audiences are eager to watch this event, the stadium is 5-kilometer, 20-obstacle course in the arenas.

NCC will also be housing over 1,600 racers in different countires. This will be a big previlage for us and our country, it is an opportunity for many citizens can be recognise with this event especially now we have a venue for sports events.
