How Does Wellhead Pressure Test Skid Work? A wellhead pressure test skid is a portable unit that is used to pressure test wellhead equipment. It is typically used to test the integrity of the wellhead and its associated components, such as the blowout preventer (BOP) and casing pressure valves. The wellhead pressure test skid is typically equipped with the following components:     

Pumps: The pumps are used to pressurize the wellhead and its associated components. Valves: The valves control the flow of fluid into and out of the wellhead. Gauges: The gauges are used to measure the pressure and temperature of the fluid. Fittings: The fittings are used to connect the wellhead pressure test skid to the wellhead and its associated components. Hoses: The hoses are used to transport the fluid between the wellhead pressure test skid and the wellhead. To conduct a wellhead pressure test, the wellhead pressure test skid is connected to the wellhead using the hoses and fittings. The pumps are then used to pressurize the wellhead and its associated components to a predetermined pressure. The valves are used to control the flow of fluid into and out of the wellhead, and the gauges are used to monitor the pressure and temperature of the fluid. The wellhead pressure test is typically held for a period of time, typically 15-30 minutes, to ensure that the wellhead and its associated components can withstand the pressure. If the wellhead and its associated components hold the pressure for the predetermined period of time, then the test is considered to be successful.
