Para escribir estas líneas cambié mi escritorio por una tumbona frente al mar. Al llegar a la playa la arena me recibió suave y tibia. La brisa despeinó mi cabello rizo. El vaivén de las olas me arrulló. Entonces, los labios se alargaron y afloró una sonrisa en mi rostro. Recordé los veranos en la playa, sentada en la arena, con un sombrero de paja. Sí, una estampa muy parecida a la portada de esta edición: apacible, sin prisa, relajada, en la arena, junto al mar.

Con ganas de que pases un veranito sinigual, hemos curado un contenido la mar de interesante para ti. La columna Siete vidas propone un verano más “liviano”; Llévame presenta 5 tendencias de viajes (ya apunté una de ellas en mi bucket list) y en La prole, un veterinario aconseja sobre los cuidados de las mascotas durante los meses de calor intenso.

En Belleza puedes leer las recomendaciones de varios expertos para un tush envidiable (prepárate porque hay que hacer squats, y muchos). En Moda, échale un ojo a lo que dicen unas diseñadoras de bañadores. Para La casa escogimos opciones fabulosas que harán de tu patio uno bien divertido (hay una opción que me tiene enamorada). Y si quieres un verano de buenas lecturas, en La estantería encontrarás varias.

No me despido sin antes recomendarte la entrevista a Luis Miranda para Voces de aquí. Luis, aparte de ser el padre del actor, dramaturgo y productor, Lin-Manuel Miranda, es vegalteño y uno de los activistas más importantes de la comunidad puertorriqueña y latina en los Estados Unidos. Su energía es contagiosa. Parece no cansarse. Lucha. Motiva. ¡No dejes de leerla!

To write these lines, I traded my desk for a deckchair facing the sea. When I reached the beach, the sand greeted me, soft and warm. The breeze tousled the curls in my hair and the swaying of the waves lulled me. Then, my lips curled into a smile that spread across my face. I remembered summers at the beach, sitting on the sand and wearing a straw hat. Yes, an image very similar to the cover of this edition: peaceful, unhurried, relaxing on the sand by the sea.

Wishing for an unforgettable summer, we curated content with a variety of interests for you. Our Siete vidas column proposes a “lighter” summer; Llévame presents 5 travel trends (I already added one to my bucket list) and, in La prole, a veterinarian gives some advice on how to take care of your pet during the hottest months.

Read Belleza for expert advice on how to have an enviable tush (brace yourself, it involves squats; a lot of them). Check out Moda to see what fashion designers are saying about swimwear. Luis, a native of Vega Alta, is not only the father of actor, playwright, and producer Lin-Manuel Miranda but also one of the most important activists in the Puerto Rican and Latin American communities in the United States. His energy is contagious. He never seems to tire out. He fights. He inspires. Don’t miss it!

Con la celebración de las fiestas patronales en honor a San Antonio de Padua, santo patrón de Dorado, nuestro pueblo reafirma su compromiso con una tradición arraigada en su historia, su cultura y sus vivencias. Tradición que, desde la fundación de Dorado en 1842, solo ha sido interrumpida por causas mayores en contadas ocasiones, la última de ellas fue la pandemia del Covid-19.

Una vez reanudadas, las fiestas patronales de Dorado se han vuelto a celebrar con el brillo, la oferta musicocultural y el entusiasmo colectivo que siempre han sido su carta de presentación. Las de 2023 no serán la excepción. Por ello, las dedicamos con marcado regocijo a Bonifacia Álvarez, una figura muy amada en nuestro pueblo que la valora como una digna representante de la mujer trabajadora quien fungió por muchos años como empleada custodio de varias escuelas públicas de Dorado. Para Bonifacia, la admiración, el respeto y el reconocimiento sincero de todos los doradeños.

Sirvan las fiestas de este 2023 para poner de manifiesto la unidad que nos orgullece, la alegría de vivir que nos distingue y la hospitalidad que nos caracteriza. Reciban todos la bienvenida cordial y entusiasta de un pueblo que abre sus puertas tanto a sus hijos, como a sus visitantes. With the celebration of the festivities in honor of Saint Anthony of Padua, patron saint of Dorado, our town reaffirms its commitment to a tradition rooted in its history, its culture, and its experiences. It’s a tradition that, since the founding of Dorado in 1842, has rarely been interrupted except by major events, the most recent being the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since they were reinstated, Dorado’s patron saint festivities have been celebrated with the same splendor, musical and cultural offerings, and the collective enthusiasm for which they have always been known. The 2023 edition of the festivities will not be an exception. It is with great pleasure that we dedicate them to Bonifacia Álvarez, a beloved member of our community who was recognized as a true representation of a hardworking woman who worked for many years as a custodian in many of Dorado’s public schools. Bonifacia, you have the admiration, respect, and sincere recognition of all the people of Dorado.

May these 2023 celebrations be used to manifest the unity we proudly embody, the joie de vivre we are known for, and the hospitality for which we are known. I extend to you all a warm and enthusiastic welcome from a town that opens its doors to its children and guests alike. Let us embrace each other warmly and make this festive celebration a tribute to solidarity, wholesome community life, and happiness. Let’s celebrate with joy the incomparable patron saint festivities of our Puerto Rican paradise!

Gustitos para combatir el calor

En Puerto Rico, la cultura y la gastronomía van de la mano, ya que nuestras comidas reflejan la historia, las tradiciones y las distintas influencias que caracterizan a la isla. Los postres llenos de sabores locales capaces de satisfacer cualquier paladar no son la excepción. Aquí presentamos dos clásicos puertorriqueños:

Las piraguas son algo parecido a un cono de nieve o a un raspado, pero con un toque puertorriqueño. Se distinguen por su forma triangular bañada en abundante sirope de sabores. Es común ver a los piragüeros y sus coloridos carritos por las calles de Puerto Rico, sobre todo durante los calurosos meses de verano, ya sea en fiestas y festivales, o simplemente cerca de alguna acera.

Manolo Santiago, residente en Dorado y propietario de Piragua Famosa, sirve piraguas auténticas de jueves a domingo en la carretera PR-694, bajo el puente del Expreso PR-22. Manolo dice que lo que más le gusta de ser piragüero es “compartir con otros en mi comunidad”.

Las piraguas se han hecho famosas, tanto en la literatura como en la música. El musical In the Heights, de Lin-Manuel Miranda, les rinde homenaje con la canción Piragua.

Treats to Beat the Heat

Puerto Rican culture and food are inseparable, as the cuisine reflects the island’s history, traditions, and diverse influences. And its desserts are no exception, offering local flavors that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. These two are classic Puerto Rican treats:

Piraguas are like snow cones or shaved ice, but with a distinct Puerto Rican twist. They are shaped like a pyramid and topped with a generous helping of flavored syrup. Piragüeros and their colorful pushcarts are a common sight on the streets of Puerto Rico, especially during the hot summer months. You can find them at celebrations and festivals, or simply parked on the side of the road.

Manolo Santiago, Dorado resident and owner of Piragua Famosa, offers authentic piraguas from Thursdays to Sundays under Hwy 22 overpass on Hwy 694. Manolo says his favorite part about being a piragüero is “sharing with others in my community.”

Piraguas have been celebrated in literature and music. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical In the Heights pays tribute to them with the song Piragua.

El límber, un dulce congelado parecido a una paleta helada, pero de textura más cremosa. Es una mezcla licuada de frutas, azúcar y agua (o a veces crema) que se congela dentro de vasos plásticos.

Migdalia Melecio, jubilada y quien ha vivido toda su vida en Dorado, vende límbers desde su casa en la calle San Quintín en el centro del pueblo de Dorado. Los de jengibre y los de maní son los más vendidos entre sus clientes que vienen de toda la isla.

¿Sabías que la palabra “límber” viene del apellido “Lindbergh”? Recibió este nombre en honor a la visita del aviador Charles Lindbergh a Puerto Rico, en febrero de 1928, quien probó este delicioso manjar luego de aterrizar en la isla.

Límber, a frozen treat that is like a popsicle, but with a smoother texture. It’s made by blending fruit, sugar, and water (sometimes cream), and then freezing the mixture in small plastic cups.

Lifelong Dorado resident and retiree, Migdalia Melecio, sells límbers from her home on Calle San Quintín in Downtown Dorado. Her best-selling flavors, ginger and peanut, attract customers from all over the island.

Did you know that the name “límber” is derived from the Spanish pronunciation of “Lindbergh”? It’s named in honor of aviator Charles Lindbergh’s visit to Puerto Rico in February 1928, where he was presented with the frozen treat upon landing on the island.

Hace poco me percaté del exceso. Ocurrió mientras empacaba para mis vacaciones tres pares de pantallas, aunque terminaba usando todos los días las muy cómodas que llevaba puestas. ¿Extrañé las que me afané en llevar bien protegidas? La respuesta es: no. ¿Dejaron de gustarme? Otra vez digo: no. Sucedió que el asunto careció de importancia.

Solemos viajar ligeros, con las piezas de ropa que nos hacen felices y con los zapatos que nos resultan cómodos, para no perder ni tiempo ni dinero con pesados equipajes. Tener cosas no es tan importante como hacer cosas.

Arribamos a nuestro destino decididos a bebernos sus colores, sus aromas y sus formas, y mientras más liviana sea nuestra carga, más espacio tendremos para recargar baterías y acumular nuevas experiencias que pongan a prueba desde cómo somos hasta cómo pensamos.

Hemos perdido guantes, bufandas y sortijas en un viaje y, quizás, nos ha dolido poco porque el tiempo vuela en ese nuevo destino y el sufrimiento no cabe en la agenda. Tener cosas no es tan importante como vivir cosas.

Just recently, I became aware of the excess. It happened as I packed 3 pairs of earrings for my vacation trip, even though I’d end up wearing my everyday pair for every single outing. Did I miss the earrings I so carefully packed? The answer is: No. Did I stop liking them? Again: No. It just became unimportant.

We tend to travel light, bringing only the clothes that make us happy along with our most comfortable shoes to save the time and money heavier luggage would entail. Having things is not as important as doing things.

We arrive at our destination with the resolution of drinking in its colors, shapes, and scents, so the lighter our cargo is, the more space we will have to recharge our batteries and enjoy new experiences that challenge who we are and even our ways of thinking.

We have lost gloves, scarves, and jewelry on our trips, but those losses may have hurt less because time flies while you’re vacationing. Suffering is not part of the itinerary. Having things is not as important as experiencing things.

Ese periodo de bienestar controlado que suelen ofrecernos las vacaciones puede ser el experimento ideal para repasar qué necesitamos y qué nos complace. Acumulamos objetos porque nos gustan; mejoran la estética o la funcionalidad de nuestros entornos; porque nos recuerdan una época linda o, simplemente, porque sí. Con su adquisición inicia una infinita carrera de redundancias, apegos y valoraciones que puede ser extenuante.

Es verano y seguro te irás de vacaciones. Llegan la pausa, el poco control del tiempo y de acceso a las cosas que creemos necesitar. Y cuando menos lo esperas, tu corazón se alivia caminando descalza, con un sencillo vestido de algodón y con las mismas pantallas que saliste de casa. Tener cosas no es tan importante como recordar cosas.

Quizás, en tu vacación, descubres lo que te basta y lo que te sobra en la vida. ¡Eureka! Procura entonces que el bienestar no sea momentáneo… o un lujo de verano.

That period of managed well-being that a vacation tends to provide could be the perfect moment to think about what we need and what pleases us. We collect things because we like them after all, they improve the appearance or functionality of our surroundings, they bring pleasant memories perhaps, or just because. Acquiring them is the start of an infinite loop of excesses, attachments, and validation that can be exhausting.

Summer is here, and you will likely go on vacation. And with it comes the lull, the little control we have over time, and the lack of access to the things we think we need. And when you least expect it, your heart grows lighter as you walk around barefoot, wearing a simple cotton dress with the same earrings you had on when you left home. Having things is not as important as remembering things.

Maybe your vacation will help you discover what is enough and what is unnecessary in your life. Eureka! So make sure that this feeling of wellness is not momentary... or a summertime luxury.

La industria del viaje está experimentando un resurgimiento con una gran cantidad de tendencias emergentes. Al fin podemos movernos de soñar con nuevos destinos, a aprovechar las oportunidades que se nos presentan a la hora de viajar. Pero, ¿cómo lucen estos viajes en 2023? Desde el turismo sostenible hasta el nomadismo digital, estas son 5 tendencias que deberías tener en cuenta a la hora de planificar tu próxima escapada.

Turismo sostenible

Esta es una de las más comentadas, pues son más los viajeros que optan por ayudar a alcanzar la neutralidad en carbono que, en arroz y habichuelas, significa reducir las emisiones de dióxido de carbono, uno de los gases más nocivos para el medioambiente. Muchos destinos están haciendo su parte tomando en cuenta el aspecto de la sostenibilidad en sus ofrecimientos. Podemos encontrar algunos que están priorizando estrategias que van desde el uso de energías renovables hasta la implementación de proyectos ecológicos, como el programa de reforestación de la Islas Galápagos y los 370 taxis híbridos y de gasolina que componen Green Taxi, en Viena.

Bienestar y salud

Si algo nos enseñó el confinamiento, fue lo esencial que es atender nuestra salud y bienestar. De hecho, una de las más recientes tendencias vela precisamente por este aspecto. Las experiencias de bienestar y salud que se enfocan en actividades como clases de yoga y retiros de meditación, están en ascenso este 2023. Estos viajes dan prioridad al cuidado personal, al mismo tiempo que permiten experimentar nuevas culturas y destinos. En Italia, por ejemplo, podrías relajarte en el spa del Lefay Resort & Spa, el primero en Italia en recibir el certificado de Spa Ecológico de Ecocert. Sustainable Tourism

As one of the most talked about ways to travel, more and more travelers are opting to help reach carbon neutrality. Simply put, this means reducing the emission of one of the most harmful gases for the environment: carbon dioxide. Many destinations are taking part in consciously incorporating sustainability as part of their tourism efforts. The Galapagos Islands with their reforestation program, and Vienna with its 370 hybrid and gas Green Taxis, are just some of the destinations prioritizing strategies involving renewable energy and the implementation of ecological projects.

Health and Wellness

If quarantine taught us anything, it is that taking time to nurture our health and wellbeing is crucial. As a matter of fact, one of the most recent trends specifically focuses on this. Health and wellness experiences involving activities like yoga classes and mediation retreats, are one of the fastest growing travel activities in 2023. These trips prioritize selfcare, while also allowing you to take part in unique cultures and discover new destinations. Ya no es necesario estar dentro de cuatro paredes ni estar atados a una dirección fija para trabajar. Microviajes

Si solo tienes un fin de semana para darte una escapada, los microviajes podrían ser la mejor opción para ti. Esta tendencia permite que las personas, que cada día están más ocupadas, puedan darse el lujo de hacer viajes cortos y más frecuentes. Estos suelen enfocarse en actividades y experiencias específicas, como asistir a un festival de música, aventuras de senderismo y hacer turismo gastronómico en una nueva ciudad. En otras palabras, están diseñados para ser rápidos, fáciles y asequibles. De igual forma, los microviajes ofrecen la ventaja de poder planificar y reservar con poca antelación, sin necesidad de ausentarse mucho del trabajo.

Working effectively no longer requires you to be inside four walls and tied to your desk. If you’re a freelance digital nomad or you have a flexible job, consider changing your virtual meeting background to something more exciting. Thanks to the workcation trend, as long as you have a stable Internet connection, you can now combine remote work and travel. So, take your laptop and enjoy the views and experiences of a new travel destination!

Digital Nomads

Speaking of digital nomads, if you have even more job flexibility, you could spend more time exploring multiple destinations. Unlike a workcation, a digital nomad has the opportunity to continue traveling while working remotely. Many destinations have taken advantage of this new workstyle, the most recent being Spain, which launched a visa for international remote workers who carry out business or professional activities remotely using computers or other forms of telecommunication.

Micro Travel

If you only have a weekend to escape, micro trips could be the best option for you. This trend allows people who are increasingly busier, to treat themselves to shorter and more frequent trips. These usually focus on specific activities and experiences, like attending a music festival, going on hiking adventures, and even enjoying food tours in a new city. In other words, these are designed to be quick, easy, and attainable trips. One of the perks of this type of travel is that you can plan and make reservations in short notice, without the need to take time off from work for a long period of time.

l estivo junto al rubio están a la vuelta de la esquina. El sol comienza a pegar fuerte y es entre julio y agosto que el calor del verano alcanza su punto máximo en nuestro país. Ojo: ese calor estival puede ser insoportable para las mascotas, en especial, los perros. La razón es sencilla: los animales no regulan la temperatura del cuerpo como nosotros, porque carecen de glándulas sudoríparas.

Estos meses son perfectos para planificar viajes y salidas junto a las mascotas, pero antes de darte una escapada con ellos al campo, la ciudad, el río o la playa, planifica debidamente.

RAZAS, EDAD Y EL CALOR

Toma nota a esta explicación del Dr. Zambrana: “Las mascotas de pelaje largo, las razas de perros de hocico corto (como los bulldogs, pugs y pequineses, conocidos como razas braquiocefálicas), las mascotas con sobrepeso y geriátricas, exhiben una mayor predisposición a desarrollar problemas de salud”. Por otro lado, explica que las razas con hocico largo, como los dobermans o los galgos, aguantan mejor el calor.

POBRES PATAS

Las heridas en las almohadillas de los perros son mucho más frecuentes de lo que parece. Es algo curioso ya que, a pesar de ser delicadas, son increíblemente resistentes. Sin embargo, cuando aprieta el calor, hay que evitar los paseos o el ejercicio físico. El Dr. Zambrana sugiere buscar lociones disponibles en el mercado para protegerlas e hidratarlas.

Pets in the Summertime

Summer is just around the corner, and with it, comes the sun. Temperatures are rising as the weeks go by, and July and August are the months when the temperatures are the highest in our country. It’s important to be mindful of our pets during this time as the heat makes them very uncomfortable, especially dogs. The reason is simple: since animals lack sweat glands, they can’t regulate their body temperature like we do.

While these months are perfect for planning trips and outings with our pets, make sure to plan accordingly before you escape to the countryside, the city, a river, or the beach with your furry friend.

You can never be too careful when it comes to protecting your four-legged companion. Doctor Gilberto Zambrana, from the Servicios Veterinarios de Dorado clinic, shares some valuable information to keep our pets safe during hot weather.

BREEDS, AGE, AND HEAT

Dr. Zambrana explains: “Long-haired pets, shortnosed dog breeds (for example, bulldogs, pugs, and Pekingese dogs, also known as brachycephalic breeds), overweight, and geriatric pets are at a higher risk of having health issues.” On the other hand, he explains that long-nosed breeds, like dobermans or greyhounds, have a higher tolerance to heat.

POOR PAWS!

Dogs’ paw pads are much more vulnerable to injuries than they seem. It’s interesting because in spite of being delicate, they’re incredibly resistant. However, when the weather gets hot, it’s best to avoid walks and physical activity. Dr. Zambrana recommends using paw balms to keep them protected and moisturized.

LA PLAYA Y LOS PERROS

• Sunscreen perruno: Existen filtros solares para perros. Estos se aplican en áreas de la piel expuestas al sol como las orejas, el hocico y partes de la barriga donde carecen de pelaje.

• Agua de mar: Ten en consideración que el agua de la playa puede ser perjudicial para los perros. Evita que beba una cantidad excesiva de ella. En adición al alto contenido de sal, el agua de mar contiene toxinas y bacterias, así como restos de algas marinas. Asimismo, es importante que le protejas los oídos. Asegúrate de enjuagarle las orejas con agua dulce al final de la actividad y secarle bien el área para evitar infecciones.

• Olas: Bien es sabido que los perros saben nadar desde que nacen, pero no debes confiarte y dejarlo solo. Algo que parece muy útil son los chalecos salvavidas que ayudarán a que tu perro se mantenga a flote. Además de cómodo estará más visible en el agua.

• Amor por la arena: Vigila a tu can cuando esté en la arena. Son muchos los que aman comerla y eso podría originarle problemas gastrointestinales. Si luego de un día de playa observas que presenta falta de apetito, comienza a demostrar inquietud o nerviosismo, decaimiento general, diarreas o vómitos, es esencial acudir cuanto antes a tu veterinario para que lo examine y tome las medidas necesarias para que mejore.

DOGS AND THE BEACH

• Puppy sunscreen: There are sunscreens available for dogs. They should be applied in exposed areas, like the ears, nose, and their underbelly, which often lacks fur.

• Seawater: Keep in mind that seawater could be harmful to dogs. Don’t let them drink too much of it. On top of the high salt content, seawater contains toxins and bacteria, as well as traces of seaweed. It’s also important to be mindful of their ears. Make sure to rinse off their ears with freshwater when leaving the beach, and dry them off well to prevent infections.

• Waves: It’s a well-known fact that dogs are born knowing how to swim, but they shouldn’t be left on their own. Life jackets are a great tool to keep your dog afloat and safe. Aside from being comfortable, they will also be more visible in the water.

• Sand love: Watch your pup while playing in the sand. Many dogs love eating it, and it could cause gastrointestinal issues. After a day at the beach, if your dog shows a lack of appetite, restlessness or nervousness, general malaise, diarrhea, or vomiting, contact your vet immediately so that they can be examined and appropriate measures can be taken to improve their condition.

Evita exponerla a actividades de juegos o ejercicios en horas de calor extremo (entre las 10:00 de la mañana y 2:00 de la tarde).

La mascota debe estar siempre bien hidratada. Si la llevas de paseo, existen múltiples envases portátiles para que tenga agua disponible.

En todo momento debes mantenerla en espacios frescos, incluso en zonas adecuadas con acondicionador de aire en funcionamiento.

Las mascotas no deben dejarse encerradas en el carro mientras su dueño hace alguna diligencia.

Recomendaciones básicas para proteger a tu mascota que debes tener presente en los meses de mucho calor:

• ¡Sal pa fuera!: Al salir del mar enjuágalo con agua dulce. Cuando llegues a tu casa báñalo con un champú especial para perros y cepíllalo bien para que elimine el pelo muerto.

CUIDADO CON LOS ACCESORIOS

“La utilización de vestimenta en múltiples especies de animales ha ido en incremento. Es importante que sea una vestimenta apta para el tamaño, que no le quede apretada y que no le friccione la piel. En mascotas que padecen de dermatitis atópica, se deben evitar las telas de microfibra. No soy partidario de los lazos en la cabeza. Estos, en ocasiones, pueden causar alopecia si el nudo es uno muy ajustado. De optar por usarlos, evita que le queden ajustados y no debe dejarlos por más de un día”, puntualiza el Dr. Zambrana.

VACUNACIÓN

Siempre que vayamos a disfrutar de actividades al aire libre o de ir a pasear con otras mascotas es importante revisar la vigencia de las vacunas. En el caso de los perros deben tener inmunidad para las enfermedades más comunes como: distemper o moquillo canino; hepatitis canina; leptospirosis; parainfluenza canina; parvovirus canino; coronavirus canino; bordetella bronchiseptica y rabia.

• Let’s go outside: When getting out of the water, rinse your dog with freshwater. At home, use dog shampoo and then brush their fur thoroughly to get rid of dead hair.

BE CAREFUL WITH ACCESSORIES

“The use of clothing in certain species of animals is more common with each passing day. It’s important to use clothing that fits well, that isn’t too tight, and that it doesn’t cause friction. Pets that suffer from atopic dermatitis should avoid wearing microfiber fabrics. I’m not a fan of bows on a pet’s head, since these could cause alopecia if the knot is too tight. If you choose to put one on your pet, make sure they aren’t too tight, and don’t leave them on for more than one day,” explains Dr. Zambrana.

VACCINES

It’s important to check if our pets’ vaccines are up to date whenever we take them to any outdoor activities, or if they’ll be exposed to other pets. Dogs should be vaccinated for common diseases, such as canine distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, canine parainfluenza, canine parvovirus, Bordetella bronchiseptica, and rabies.

Basic tips to keep in mind to protect your pet from high temperatures during the summer:

Avoid playing or exercising with your pet during the hottest hours of the day. (Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.).

Keep your pet hydrated at all times. If you take them out for a walk, make sure to pack water for them to drink.

Keep them in cool places at all times; consider air-conditioned places if necessary.

A pet should not be left alone in the car while their owner is away.

Achieving showstopping glutes takes work, sacrifice, and deep pockets. Although their firmness may depend on your genetic makeup, dietary habits, and exercise, the world of aesthetics offers multiple treatments that could complement and even enhance those coveted curves.

To learn more about this topic, we spoke with a fitness trainer and two experts in aesthetics. Keep reading to find out what they shared about the best way to achieve an enviable tush.

From the inside out: exercise and diet

There isn’t a miracle formula, so if you want to wear that trendy swimsuit or bikini, you need to lead a healthy lifestyle all year round. This involves a healthy diet and a consistent exercise routine.

Karla Marie Hernández, entrenadora y propietaria de KM Fitness asegura que “los squats NO son negociables”. “Lo ideal es ir de un peso liviano a más peso, para sobrecargar los músculos. Siempre se sube el peso, aunque se tengan que bajar las repeticiones”, puntualiza al explicar los ejercicios básicos para unos glúteos atractivos y sobre la base de una rutina con pesas. También, enfatiza sobre la importancia de un programa integral para obtener resultados mejores y más sostenibles a largo plazo, pues no se pueden trabajar los glúteos aislados.

Mantener los glúteos libres de grasa, pero con máxima masa muscular se logra con una buena alimentación. Karla apunta a que “hay que alimentarse comiendo frutas, vegetales y carbohidratos complejos y, sobre todo, tener una ingesta baja en grasa, pero alta en proteínas”.

La experta añade que “la proteína es sumamente importante para maximizar la masa muscular. Por ejemplo, en todas las comidas hay que asegurarse de comer suficiente pollo, huevo, carne baja en grasa, pescado y granos”.

Karla Marie Hernández, trainer and owner of KM Fitness, says that “squats are NON-NEGOTIABLE.” “Ideally, you should go from lighter to heavier weights in order to avoid overworking the muscles. We increase the weight while lowering the number of reps,” she points out, describing the main exercises to achieve attractive glutes based on a weight-training routine. She also emphasizes the importance of following a comprehensive program to obtain better and more sustainable long-term results, as the glutes cannot be trained in isolation.

A good diet is the best way to keep your buttocks lean but with optimal muscle mass. Karla points out that “our diet should include fruits, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates, and most importantly, it should feature a low-fat high-protein intake.”

“Protein is extremely important to maximize muscle mass,” the expert adds. “For example, make sure to consume enough chicken, eggs, lean meat, fish, and grains in every meal.”

Llévalos a cabina

Los tratamientos estéticos pueden ayudarte a obtener las curvas que anhelas en tu trasero. Como explica Ámbar Violeta Saurí, experta en estética y propietaria de Glute Factory PR, las visitas para hacerse tratamientos en los glúteos se han popularizado, pues antes a esta zona no se le daba tanta importancia, sobre todo a la reafirmación y al volumen.

“Existen múltiples tratamientos para esta zona. Lo primero es identificar la opción más adecuada para cada caso en función de los objetivos: firmeza, celulitis, levantar la zona y hasta moldear la forma de los glúteos. No todos los glúteos se trabajan igual”, dice Ámbar y enfatiza que “estos tratamientos tienen que ir de la mano de una prescripción de rutina de ejercicios con pesas, porque para sostener los cambios en los glúteos necesitamos músculo”.

En adelante te presentamos las diferentes técnicas que se pueden realizar en una cabina estética:

• Lipoláser “Esta es una técnica poco invasiva que busca eliminar grasa, moldear el cuerpo y reducir la celulitis”, destaca Ámbar. El tratamiento lipoláser consiste en aplicar energía láser a través de ondas precisas sin generar ningún tipo de dolor. Se realiza por medio de un sistema basado en un láser de baja frecuencia que logra estimular de forma inteligente las células adiposas.

Take them to the spa

Aesthetic treatments can help you contour those glutes the way you want. Ámbar Violeta Saurí, aesthetics expert and owner of Glute Factory PR, explains that glute treatments have become more popular. In the past, this area was not given as much attention, in particular its firmness and volume.

“There is a variety of treatments for this specific area. The first step is to identify the most suitable option for each case, depending on the desired outcome: a boost in firmness, cellulite treatments, lifts, and even glute sculpting. Not all glutes receive the same treatment,” Ámbar adds, emphasizing that “these treatments need to go hand-in-hand with a prescribed weight training routine, because we need muscle in order to support the changes in our glutes.”

Below, we list different techniques that can be performed by an aesthetician:

• Laser lipolysis “This is a minimally invasive technique used to remove fat, sculpt the body, and reduce cellulite,” Ámbar points out. This painless treatment consists of delivering laser energy through targeted light waves. This is performed through a low-frequency smart laser system that stimulates the adipose cells.

• Cavitación y copas

Técnica no quirúrgica para eliminar la grasa localizada. “Se utiliza mayormente cuando hay apariencia de piel naranja en los glúteos”, explica Ámbar. Se hace a través de ultrasonido de baja frecuencia. “Con esta técnica se derrite un poco la grasa (no se puede derretir mucho pues se pierde volumen) y luego se ponen las copas para levantar y moldear las curvas del glúteo”, explica Ámbar.

• Vacuumterapia

Esta técnica es capaz de ayudar a reafirmar y ayuda a direccionar la grasa ya diluida a través de la cavitación o del lipoláser. “La vacuumterapia es un tratamiento moldeador que provoca un pliegue cutáneo que podemos movilizar y tratar según las necesidades de cada paciente. La vacuumterapia es otra de las terapias eficaces para combatir la celulitis, levantar los glúteos, mejorar la circulación y eliminar el exceso de grasa reduciendo así las medidas”, añade la experta.

• Radiofrecuencia

Técnica utilizada en la medicina estética para combatir la flacidez, mejorar la apariencia de las estrías y la celulitis. Consiste en la aplicación de radiaciones electromagnéticas que provocan el calentamiento de las diferentes capas de la piel. La radiofrecuencia produce la retracción del colágeno y de las fibras envejecidas para dar lugar a la formación de nuevas fibras.

• Cavitation and vacuum cups

This is a non-surgical technique used to remove localized fat. “It is mostly used when the skin of the glutes has an appearance similar to that of orange peel,” Ámbar explains. This technique uses low-frequency ultrasound waves. “Fat melts a little when using this technique, although it shouldn’t melt too much, or some volume will be lost. Then, the vacuum cups are used to lift and mold the glutes,” describes Ámbar.

• Vacuum therapy

This technique helps lift the glutes and redirect the fat that has already been diluted by cavitation or laser lipolysis treatments. “Vacuum therapy is a molding treatment that stimulates the skin layers into a fold, making it possible to tone and treat based on the patient’s needs. Vacuum therapy is another effective way to treat cellulite, lift the glutes, improve circulation, and eliminate excess fat, thus helping you lose some inches,” adds the expert.

• Radiofrequency

Radiofrequency is a technique used in medical aesthetics to tighten the skin and treat stretch marks and cellulite. The treatment consists of applying electromagnetic radiation to heat up the different skin layers. Radiofrequency causes a retraction of collagen and aging tissue to allow new collagen fibers to form.

Como nalguitas de bebé

Para obtener glúteos sedosos es ideal que la piel luzca lozana y sin vellos. Pero esa no es la realidad de muchos. Es muy común tener vellos en esta zona. Y no es tan solo por estética. La realidad es que los vellos en ciertas áreas del cuerpo, como en los glúteos, pueden ser molestosos. Rasurarlos es una opción rápida y económica, pero poco práctica, porque el vello vuelve a crecer y la piel puede irritarse.

Sin embargo, existe una manera más práctica, pero que conlleva invertir dinero: los tratamientos con láser. Según Margarita Bibiloni, de ABA Depilación Láser, “estos tratamientos para los glúteos han ido en aumento. Recibimos hombres y mujeres que buscan eliminar el vello en esta zona del cuerpo. La reducción es notable con tan solo una visita”.

Smooth as a baby’s bottom

Thankfully, there is a more practical way, but it requires an investment: laser treatments. According to Margarita Bibiloni, from ABA Depilación Láser, “the demand for these glute treatments is on the rise. Both men and women come to us for hair removal in this body area. Los historiadores del fashion coinciden en que el traje de baño femenino tuvo su origen para los 1800. A partir de entonces esa pieza evolucionó como ninguna otra. Con el tiempo llegaron los bikinis, las tangas y otros modelitos más aptos para las poseedoras de las mejores anatomías. Por fortuna, hoy se viven aires democráticos y los diseñadores trabajan para todo tipo de cuerpo. Además, ahora todo se vale, menos sentirse incómoda.

“El propósito es que el feeling sea tan bueno que resulte cómodo llevarlo el día entero”, explica la jovencísima diseñadora Sara Silva Vázquez, creadora de LAOLA Swim, una popular marca local dirigida a mujeres entre los 18 a los 35 años que se sienten bien con ellas mismas.

Y es que hoy estas piezas trascienden del entorno acuático para llevarse cualquier día y a cualquier escenario. Así lo asegura Lorel Aurora Torres que trabaja para una clientela de edades más maduras. La diseñadora de la línea Mare Cheia a diario incorpora sus piezas como parte de los outfits que usa.

Por ese asunto de la comodidad, coinciden ambas expertas en que el punto de partida es la calidad de la tela: que sea suave, pero duradera; cómoda, pero firme, para que nada se salga de su lugar.

Swimsuits for YOUR EVERY DAY

Swimwear is far from being optional in a Caribbean closet —it’s an absolute must! Here in the island, swimsuits are being designed with a single golden rule in mind: they should make you feel like your best self.

Fashion historians believe that women’s swimwear originated in the 18th century. Since then, this garment has evolved unlike any other. Over time, more designs were introduced, such as bikinis, thongs, and other styles designed particularly for those with the best physiques. Fortunately, designers nowadays cater to all body types. Anything goes now, except feeling uncomfortable.

“The goal is for you to feel so good that you can comfortably wear it all day long,” explains Sara Silva Vázquez, the young designer and creator of LAOLA Swim, a popular local brand intended for women ages 18 to 35 who want to feel comfortable in their skin.

In fact, many of these modern garments go beyond waterside settings and can be worn anytime and anywhere. This is according to Mare Cheia designer Lorel Aurora Torres, who caters to a more sophisticated clientele while also partaking in this new trend by incorporating her swimwear pieces into her daily outfits.

Both designers agree that when it comes to comfort, a good starting point is quality fabric: soft yet durable, comfortable but strong, so nothing will slip out of place.

Opciones para TODAS “Diseñar trajes de baño para todo tipo de cuerpo es algo que hay que hacer”, determina Sara, quien se inició a los 16 años gracias a la mentoría de una veterana de este campo, Tommy Hernández. En sus modelos de dos piezas apuesta por tops de un hombro, que van bien de la playa a la calle, y triangulares, diseñados para atarse de distintas formas, según se quiera moldear el busto. Cada modelo tiene dos versiones de bottom: la más cheeky, atrevida, y otra más encubridora.

Mientras, Lorel trabaja con métodos de corte que ella denomina como out of the box. Crea sus patrones con dos o tres tipos de figuras en mente para atender la diversidad de cuerpos de la mujer madura. “Tomo en consideración levantar el busto, moldear glúteos y abdomen y resaltar la mejor parte de tu cuerpo”, explica la creadora del modelo que promete una figura tipo reloj de arena.

De colores y conceptos En el Caribe, los vibrantes ganan, sean naranjas, verdes, amarillos o azul pavo real. Pero están en tendencia los tonos tierra, destacados los marrones y en especial un tono paprika que le va bien a todas las pieles. Para piezas timeless lo indicado es el color sólido, mientras los estampados llaman la atención y algunos incluso sirven para crear ilusiones ópticas.

TLC para tus prendas

Options for EVERYONE “Designing swimwear for all body types is something we have to do,” says Sara, who got her start at the age of 16 thanks to the guidance of veteran designer Tommy Hernández. Her two-piece designs feature one-shoulder tops that can transition your outfit from beach day to night out, and triangle tops designed to be tied in different ways depending on the desired effect on the bust. Every style has two bottom design options: one is rather cheeky and daring while the other is more discreet.

Lorel, in turn, uses what she calls an “out of the box” method when it comes to tailoring. She creates her patterns with two or three body types in mind so she can cater to a diversity of clients. “The aim is to lift your bust, shape your glutes and abdomen, and highlight the best parts of your body,” explains the creator behind the style that promises an hourglass figure.

On colors and concepts Vibrant colors reign supreme in the Caribbean, be it hues of orange, green, yellow, or peacock blue. But earth tones are trending now, featuring shades of brown as well as tones of paprika, which is suitable for any skin color. Solid colors make for timeless pieces, while prints draw attention —and some even help create optical illusions.

Give your swimwear some TLC

In order for your swimwear to last, you must take care of it. The key is to wash the garments immediately after taking them off to remove all the salt, dirt, and chemicals. Ideally, let them soak in fresh water for 30 minutes. Are you on a boat or a road trip? Here’s a tip: bring a resealable plastic bag with you, place your swimwear in it with some water, and keep it there

Por 39 minutos converso con uno de los activistas más importantes a favor de la comunidad latina de los Estados Unidos y destacado consultor político. También, es el padre del aclamado dramaturgo, actor, compositor musical y productor, Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Es seguro que durante la entrevista mira el reloj varias veces. Porque Luis, oriundo de Vega Alta, vive en contra del tiempo. A los casi 69 años lleva una agenda cargadísima; descansar no es su prioridad. Ese paso acelerado lo documenta la producción de HBO, Siempre, Luis, una película que hace un inventario de su extraordinaria vida que de seguro deja una lágrima a flor de piel a quien la vea.

Pero al hablar de su familia las manecillas del reloj pausan. Con voz de miel explica en detalle el árbol genealógico de los Miranda-Towns. Empieza por su esposa, la doctora Luz Towns, que es de padre tejano y madre doradeña. Luego nombra a su hija Luz (Cita), a Lin-Manuel y a Miguel, un sobrino de quien él se ha hecho cargo desde que nació hace 22 años. Su prole le ha regalado cinco nietos y una nieta, que le llaman, los de Lin- Manuel, “Lolo”, y los de Cita, “Buelo”.

There’s No Stopping Luis Miranda

I received his call at the agreed-upon time on the dot, and like a lifelong friend, Luis A. Miranda Jr. called my name in his usual warm tone of voice. To break the ice, I told him he’d been joining me on my daily walks for the past week. He laughed, but I felt that he didn’t quite get what I meant, so I explained that I’d been listening to his interviews and podcasts in preparation for our conversation. I could almost see him smiling on the other side of the line.

For 39 minutes, I had the opportunity to speak with a prominent political consultant who is also one of the most important advocates for the Latino community in the United States. Not to mention, he is the father of acclaimed playwright, actor, musical composer, and producer Lin-Manuel Miranda.

He very likely glanced at his watch several times during the interview because Luis is on a race against time. At nearly 69, his schedule is full, and resting is not a priority for him. His hectic pace is documented in Siempre, Luis, an HBO biopic about him that will certainly tug at viewers’ heartstrings.

When he talks about his family, however, time seems to stop. He wistfully explained the Miranda-Towns family tree in detail, beginning with his wife, Dr. Luz Towns. Her father is from Texas, and her mother is from Dorado. He then mentions his children, Luz (Cita), Lin-Manuel, and Miguel, a nephew he has raised as his own since he was born 22 years ago. They have blessed him with six grandchildren: five boys and one girl. Lin-Manuel’s kids call him “Lolo,” and Cita’s call him “Buelo.”

De ese papel de abuelo comenta, con su habitual tono alegre, que su esposa y él cuidan a sus nietos en su casa porque Cita y Lin-Manuel tienen demasiadas reglas. “Si tú le preguntas a todos mis nietos cuál es la regla en casa, la contestación unánime es: ‘En casa de Lolo y Lela [como le llaman a Luz, su esposa], no hay reglas’. En casa está bien comerse un chocolate a las 9:00 de la noche antes de acostarse”, pronuncia a carcajadas el aficionado al teatro desde la adolescencia.

Este vegalteño partió en los años 70 a la ciudad de Nueva York para continuar sus estudios en la prestigiosa universidad NYU. En la urbe que nunca duerme echó raíces y allí ha vivido desde entonces. Sin embargo, Puerto Rico siempre será su patria. Ese amor que siente por la isla donde pasó toda la adolescencia se desbordó luego del paso del huracán María.

Antes del huracán, Luis y el productor Ender Vega, ponderaban la posibilidad de traer Hamilton, el laureado musical de Broadway de su hijo Lin-Manuel, a Puerto Rico. En medio de los planes surge la brutal devastación causada por el fenómeno atmosférico. La situación no los amilanó. Por el contrario, decidieron continuar con los planes de traer la obra, pero con miras a concentrarse en ayudar a que Borinquen volviera a ser la Isla del Encanto.

A través de la Federación Hispana, que Luis instituyó en 1990, y la entidad local, Fundación Flamboyán, el esfuerzo hizo historia. Recaudaron quince millones de dólares que se destinaron mayormente a la recuperación de las artes.

Regarding his role as a grandfather, he mirthfully shared that he and his wife take care of their grandchildren at home because Cita and Lin-Manuel have too many rules. “If you ask my grandchildren what the rules at home are, they will all answer: ‘At Lolo and Lela’s (as they call their grandmother Luz), there are no rules.’ In our house, it’s okay to have chocolate at 9 p.m. before bedtime,” Luis said, laughing.

The Vega Alta native left for New York City in the 70’s to continue his studies at the prestigious NYU. He ended up settling in the city that never sleeps and has lived there ever since, but Puerto Rico will always be his true home. And in Hurricane María’s aftermath, that love he feels for the island home of his youth overflowed.

Before the hurricane, Luis, who’s had a soft spot for theater since he was a teenager, and producer Ender Vega had been considering bringing Hamilton —the acclaimed Broadway musical created by his son Lin-Manuel— to Puerto Rico. The brutal devastation caused by the natural disaster disrupted their plans, but it didn’t deter them. They persevered and pursued their mission to bring the musical to the island, but this time with the added focus of helping Borinquen reclaim its status as the Island of Enchantment.

Their efforts, in collaboration with the Hispanic Federation, which Luis founded in 1990, and local entity Fundación Flamboyán, made history by raising $15 million, which was mostly invested in recovery initiatives for the arts.

Es notorio que en todo lo que Luis hace está latente el civismo, que le viene por modelaje. Según cuenta, su padre y demás familiares siempre estaban involucrados en ayudar al prójimo.

“Vengo de un pueblo pequeño, de una familia donde servir al prójimo y envolverse en organizaciones era sumamente importante. Eran organizaciones distintas. Mi papá era presidente del Club de Leones, del Club Rotario, de la Cruz Roja de Vega Alta, de la Gran Logia Masónica. Mi familia siempre estaba envuelta en la vida cívica de pueblo y recogíamos juguetes para los días de Reyes y recogíamos cosas cuando había un desastre”.

Luis invita a involucrarse en causas benéficas que “lleguen al corazón y a la mente”. Pero recalca que “si tú estás dando cien pesos y eso no te duele, diste muy poco. Tienes que dar hasta que no te puedas comprar esos zapatos que tú querías. Porque de esa manera tú sabes que de verdad estás haciendo un sacrificio por esa institución, por ese grupo de voluntarios que tú crees son importantes y deben existir. Así es que yo siempre le digo a la gente: si no das hasta que te duela, pues, estás pasando un buen rato. Uno tiene que ayudar de verdad”, dice de manera contundente.

Este verano, Hamilton regresa. El telón sube del 13 al 25 de junio con una presentación benéfica especial el viernes 16 para fortalecer los esfuerzos de resiliencia y apoyar las artes y la cultura local.

Sobre civismo, Luis y el resto del clan Miranda-Towns, dan cátedra. Desde la diáspora hacen patria dondequiera que se presentan.

We can see that Luis’s sense of civic duty, which has been passed down in his family, is present in everything he does. He shares that his father and other family members have always been involved in helping others.

“I come from a small town, from a family that valued helping others and engaging in charity. My father formed part of various organizations: he was president of the local Lions Club, the local Rotary Club, the Vega Alta Red Cross, and the Grand Masonic Lodge. My family has always been involved in the community. We collected toys for Three Kings Day celebrations, as well as goods to distribute after disasters.”

Luis urges people to get involved in charitable causes that “will touch your heart and mind.” But he notes that “if you donate $100 and it did not affect you, then you gave too little. You need to give until you can’t afford those shoes you wanted to get. That way, you know you are making a real sacrifice for that organization, for that volunteer group you believe is important and should continue to exist. That’s why I always tell people that, if you’re not giving until it hurts, then you’re just there to have a good time. You have to really help,” he emphatically explains.

Hamilton returns this summer, running from June 13 through June 25, with a special benefit performance on Friday, June 16, to support resilience initiatives and efforts benefitting the local arts and culture.

Luis and the rest of the Miranda-Towns clan are shining examples of civic responsibility, serving their beloved island from every stage they occupy.

Es el espacio seguro para conectar con la naturaleza, con quienes quieres y un verdadero domestic bliss. Por eso, planificar e invertir en un diseño para hacerlo más funcional y también divertido, suena bien. Dos arquitectas ofrecen sus respectivas fórmulas para adicionarle al patio duchas, fire pits (pozos de fuego, en buen español) y hornos especializados.

Dice la arquitecta Camille Colón, fundadora de CUBE Architects, que de la Antigua Grecia nos viene esa fascinación del humano por tener más cerca los elementos agua, fuego, tierra y aire. Y los dueños de casa modernos siguen deseándolos y juntándolos, sobre todo en sus patios.

A Fun Patio Oasis

What if you added some fun little elements to your patio? That way,you could enjoy it even more throughout the year.Based on recent experiences,it’s clear that you could use your patio more than you could ever imagine.

Patios are that safe place to connect with nature, your loved ones, and a true domestic bliss. That’s why planning and investing in a design to make it more functional and fun sounds good. Two architects offer their respective formulas for adding showers, fire pits, and specialized ovens to your patio.

Architect Camille Colón, founder of CUBE Architects, says that humans’ fascination with having elements of water, fire, earth, and air close by comes from ancient Greece. And modern-day homeowners continue to have the desire to bring these elements together, especially on their patios.

Agua + fuego = drama

“A las personas les gusta unir elementos como la piscina y el fire pit. En terrenos largos, los fire pits se usan para crear ejes, como lugares de llegada. Es el lugar para estar en las noches”.

Su consejo es que no se ubiquen demasiado distanciados o divididos. Más bien, que se aproveche la cercanía de ambos para crear efectos dramáticos y statements de diseño.

“Se están usando muchísimo los fondos de piscina negros que crean un efecto espejo. Entonces, al ubicar el fuego cerca, se refleja y luce bien interesante. Ese mismo color negro lo llevas al fire pit”.

Ducharse mirando al sol… o la luna

Las duchas de exterior han vuelto a ser populares en el diseño de patios. Pero, más allá de la básica, para mojarse antes o después de la piscina, la arquitecta y diseñadora de mobiliario, Marta Cubiñá, las visualiza como parte de un espacio tipo spa

“Nuestro clima es perfecto para ellas. Puede ser parte de un área para recibir masajes en casa: tener la ducha, una cama de masaje y una fuente relajante. O podría integrarse a un área para meditar, o com-

Water + fire = drama

“People like to bring together elements like a pool and a fire pit. On longer properties, fire pits are used to create hubs or gathering spots. It’s the place to be in the evenings.”

Her advice is to avoid placing them too far apart from each other. Instead, take advantage of their proximity to create dramatic effects and a bold design statement.

“Black-bottom pools that create a mirror effect are very popular. That way, when you put the fire nearby, it will reflect and look very interesting. You can apply the same black color to the fire pit.”

Shower while gazing up at the sun...or the moon

Outdoor showers have also become popular in patio designs. Beyond their basic purpose for rinsing off before or after a dip in the pool, architect and furniture designer, Marta Cubiñá, envisions them as part of a spa-like space.

“Our climate is perfect for those. A shower can be part of an at-home massage space along with a massage bed and a relaxing fountain. It could also

Pero, hay más opciones en las que ambas arquitectas coinciden. Si el baño del cuarto máster está orientado al patio, ¿por qué no crear una ducha tipo indoor / outdoor?

“Hay que estar consciente de la seguridad. Una pérgola te lo da, además que añade el elemento estético”, apunta Cubiñá para luego describir su montaje ideal: dos cabezales tipo rain shower, un pequeño jacuzzi e iluminación nocturna suave e indirecta.

Pero, si además se tiene la fortuna de que el dormitorio dé a la piscina, mejor aún. La arquitecta Colón describe una tendencia de borrar un poco la frontera entre los espacios privados y públicos, muy a lo resort tailandés. Se trata de conectar arquitectónicamente el baño del master suite con el área de la piscina a través de una puerta. Así, luego de estar en la alberca, el dueño de la casa puede pasar directo a su habitación.

Her list of materials for outdoor shower projects combines elements such as gravel, flagstone, natural stone, or unpolished marble with vegetation such as bamboo to form hedges or green wall concepts.

But there are even more options on which the two architects agree. If the master bathroom faces the patio, why not create an indoor/outdoor shower?

“You also have to consider privacy. A pergola gives you just that, on top of adding an aesthetic element,” Cubiñá points out. She then describes the ideal setup: two rain shower heads, a small jacuzzi, and soft, indirect night lighting.

What’s even better is if you’re fortunate enough to have a bedroom that overlooks the pool. Architect Colón describes a tendency to blur the lines between private and public spaces, much like at a Thai resort. It involves architecturally connecting the primary bathroom suite with the pool area by a door. So after taking a dip in the pool, the homeowner can then go directly to the bedroom.

Chef at home

Toca el turno a los hornos especializados, en especial los de pizzas y panes. La arquitecta Camille los detalla como perfectos para incorporar a una terraza y crear un área de interés; “una miniarquitectura dentro de un espacio más amplio”, expresa ella.

En este caso, sugiere tener bien claro estos dos asuntos:

s La dirección del viento, para evitar que el humo convierta la experiencia en pesadilla. s Las especificaciones del horno, ya que estas tienen efecto en la ubicación y preparación del espacio.

Tras el horno vienen los muebles de cocina exterior. “A mí me gustan lo flotantes, porque facilitan la limpieza; el almacenaje abierto, para que sean livianos al ojo, y un tope multiusos en forma de “L” que sirva de barra”, especifica Cubiñá. ¿Cómo “vestirlo”? Dice la arquitecta que, con porcelanatos homogéneos en espesores de media pulgada. “El cemento pulido luce contemporáneo, pero es un trabajo artesanal. Hay que estar claro en que es un material orgánico”.

Con añadir estas amenidades al patio y darle el toque decorativo que te guste, ya tienes el escenario completo. Ahora, que vengan muchas veladas divertidas.

Chef at home

Now it’s time to discuss specialized ovens, particularly those for pizza and bread. Camille describes these as perfect for incorporating into a terrace to create an area of interest. “[They are] a mini-architectural feature within a larger space,” expresses the architect.

She suggests being very clear about the following two aspects:

s The direction of the wind to prevent the smoke from turning the experience into a nightmare.

s The oven size, since this affects the location and preparation of the space.

After the oven comes the outdoor kitchen furniture. “I like floating units, because they make cleaning easier; open storage, so they are lighter on the eyes, and a multipurpose L-shaped countertop that can be used as a bar,” Cubiñá adds. How to style it? With 1/2 inch thick full-body porcelain tiles, says the architect. “Polished concrete looks contemporary, but it is handcrafted. It is important to be clear that it is an organic material.”

By adding these amenities to the patio and giving it your own decorative touch, you have set the entire stage. Now, bring on the fun late nights!

Ceviche de mariscos

Receta de Cevichería 646

Ingredientes:

- Filete de pescado blanco de tu preferencia

- Rabo de langosta de 8 onzas

- 4 camarones

- 4 onzas de calamares

- 2 onzas de pulpo español

- Un puñado de hojas de cilantro picaditas

- Zumo de 3 a 4 limas

- Una cebolla lila cortada en pedazos alargados finos

- 1 batata mameya

- Sal y pimienta al gusto

- Ajo molido al gusto

Procedimiento:

1. Hierve la batata entre 35 a 40 minutos o hasta que se ablande.

2. Hierve los mariscos y la langosta entre 10 a 12 minutos. Luego de hervidos, deja que se enfríen o colócalos en agua con hielo para acelerar el proceso de enfriamiento.

3. Corta el filete de pescado crudo en cuadritos pequeños. Haz lo mismo con la langosta y los mariscos, cuando estén fríos.

4. En un bol coloca el pescado crudo. Añade los mariscos y la langosta, cocidos, fríos y en trozos.

5. Incorpora los siguientes ingredientes en un bol y mezcla:

-Zumo de lima

-Sal y pimienta al gusto

-Un toque de ajo molido

-Las hojas de cilantro

-Cebolla morada cortada

6. Deja reposar por 12 minutos.

7. Sirve el ceviche sobre lechuga romana.

8. Incluye la batata cocida.

Esta receta rinde para una o dos personas y muy bien puede ir “coronada” con calamares fritos.

Serves 1 or 2 people

Ingredients:

- White fish fillet of your choice

- 8-ounce lobster tail

- 4 shrimps

- 4 ounces of squid

- 2 ounces of Spanish octopus

- Chopped cilantro leaves

- Juice of 3 to 4 limes

- 1 red onion, sliced into thin long strips

- 1 sweet potato

- Salt and pepper to taste

- Minced garlic to taste

Preparation:

1. Boil the sweet potato for about 35 to 40 minutes or until tender.

2. Boil the seafood and the lobster for 10 to 12 minutes. After boiling, let them cool or put them on ice to speed up the cooling process.

3. Cut the raw fish fillet into small cubes. Do the same to the lobster and seafood after they have cooled.

4. In a bowl, place the raw fish, the cooked seafood, and the lobster.

5. Mix the following ingredients in a bowl:

-Juice from the limes

-Salt and pepper to taste

-A touch of minced garlic

-A handful of cilantro leaves

-Sliced red onion

6. Let stand for 12 minutes.

7. Serve the ceviche on a bed of romaine lettuce.

8. Add the cooked sweet potato.

This dish could easily be crowned with fried calamari.

A medida que el tráfico marcha, y sin pensarlo, acabas de leer Lamento borincano, de Rafael Hernández, en braille. La instalación llamada, 2112, es del pintor José Jorge Román. Ostenta 90 mil aros de montaje plásticos y 30 mil “puntos” de cerámica de 4 x 6 pulgadas. Como esta obra encontramos muchas otras en diferentes espacios alrededor de la isla. Son parte del arte público que cada vez es más notorio y se suman para contar historias en espacios abiertos, edificios, muros u otras edificaciones.

Public Art: Works for Everyone to Enjoy

It is Friday afternoon. The familiar din from Baldorioty de Castro Avenue is at its peak: car engines roar, the noise echoing through every lane, followed by the thumping bass of music blaring everywhere driving us mad. Traffic is at a standstill. You look around and notice a series of dots and rings along the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. As traffic lurches on, you are, without realizing it, reading Rafael Hernández’s Lamento Borincano, as set out in Braille in an installation named 2112, created by painter José Jorge Román. The piece features 90,000 plastic rings and 30,000 ceramic “dots” measuring 4” x 6”.

Many pieces like this one can be found in spaces all around the island. They are part of a wave of increasingly prominent public art that tells stories in open spaces, on buildings, walls, and other structures.

We put together a few tips to make it easier for you to appreciate them:

Take a closer look

Carefully observe the artwork details. Consider the materials, textures, and colors used by the artist. Pay attention to how all these elements play into the piece’s message.

Consider its context

At first glance, its location may appear to be commonplace. Nonetheless, think about how the piece interacts with its surroundings. Does it refer to any historical or cultural event in particular? How does it complement its surrounding environment?

The artist’s intentions

Research the artist’s background and any statements they have made about the artwork. This could give you valuable information about the creative process and significance of the piece.

A36 años de haberse afincado en Nueva York, y con una silla con su nombre en el escenario artístico internacional, Enoc Pérez revela que recibió un nuevo llamado y no se ha tardado en contestar.

Cuando llegó oficialmente al middle age, a Enoc Pérez le llegó también una inquietud. Tanto así que la ha convertido en su nueva misión artística. Su urgencia es contar sobre la identidad puertorriqueña, que a última hora es contar parte de su propia historia.

“En la vida todo es ir a lo que el tiempo deshace”, escribió el poeta nacional Juan Antonio Corretjer sobre la jornada que es la vida de un hombre, sus sueños, sus atinos y las lecciones aprendidas. Y todo indica que, al artista, que ya cumplió sus 55, le ha llegado ese momento de reflexión que da, digamos, el vivir más de medio siglo.

Thirty-six years after moving to New York —and making a name for himself in the international art scene,— Enoc Pérez reveals that he received a new calling he is not hesitating to answer.

As he officially reached his middle age, Enoc also experienced a certain restlessness. In fact, he turned it into his new artistic endeavor: the urgency to speak about Puerto Rican identity, which ultimately means telling part of his own story.

Nationalist poet Juan Antonio Corretjer wrote: “En la vida todo es ir a lo que el tiempo deshace” (“Life is all about turning into that which is unraveled by time”), referring to the journey of human life, our dreams, successes, and lessons learned. Everything seems to suggest that Enoc, who already turned 55 years old, has reached that period for reflection that comes with having lived over half a century.

“Tengo la misión de pintar mi Puerto Rico”, decretó con firmeza el riopedrense hace unos meses en un recorrido privado por Las islas del encanto, su primera exhibición en el Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAPR) y, como tal, en un espacio museístico del patio.

“Transmitir la identidad”. “Darnos respeto, darnos importancia”. “El segundo capítulo [de mi vida] se lo voy a dedicar a Puerto Rico, porque ahora lo necesitamos”. “Es importante mostrarse como puertorriqueño”. Todas esas expresiones de Enoc, pescadas en una conversación larga, las emite a modo de manifiesto.

“My mission is to paint my island of Puerto Rico,” the Río Piedras native asserted a few months ago during a private tour of Las islas del encanto, his first exhibition at the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico (MAPR) —in fact, his first at a local museum.

“Conveying our identity.” “Treating ourselves with respect and importance.” “I will dedicate the second chapter [of my life] to Puerto Rico, because we need this now.” “It is important to present ourselves as Puerto Rican.” Caught during a long conversation with Enoc, he delivers these lines like a manifesto.

En el interior de Enoc ya latía hace algún tiempo la semilla de esa comisión autoimpuesta. Eso explica la producción de piezas, que trajo como parte de las “islas” de su reciente muestra. Entre esas se destacan las obras de edificios icónicos de Puerto Rico, que el curador del MAPR, Juan Carlos López Quintero, identificó como retratos de “arquitectura triunfante”. También las de sus bodegones con botellas de ron local y composiciones de copas, vasos y frutas tropicales. Y, además, los cuadros que hablan de la devastación provocada por el paso del huracán María en el 2017, evento que le provocó una angustia tal que, según rememora, le impedía tomar un avión para acá.

Su misión ahora es dedicarse a contarlo, o más bien, a pintarlo todo. The good, the bad and the ugly, como el título de aquella vieja película vaquera de Clint Eastwood.

“Esta es una cultura donde muchas cosas son ciertas a la vez”, esboza en varias ocasiones para añadir que: “ahora en mis cincuenta y pico me doy cuenta del porqué pinto”.

En su español de los 80, Enoc explica cómo los años y los acontecimientos aclararon sus visiones. Cómo entender que Francisco Oller dejara de trabajar en París para volver a esta islita.

“Con los años me doy cuenta de que no fue un sueño perdido; [Oller] inventó un estilo del bodegón tropical”, acepta el egresado de la escuela superior de la Escuela Secundaria de la Universidad de Puerto Rico (la legendaria UHS).

Para darle seguimiento a la misión, este hombre, considerado por curadores y art dealers como el artista contemporáneo más famoso y exitoso de Puerto Rico, ya se ha preparado de innumerables maneras. Como buen obsesivo compulsivo declarado, tiene colecciones de fotos, de removedores de bebidas, de libros y muchas horas de exploración en la internet. Incluso se ha sumergido en los ritmos contemporáneos (sí, incluyendo el reguetón y el trap) para inspirarse a pintar ese segundo capítulo, que lo traería de regreso a exponer, según ha dicho, en el Museo de Arte de Ponce.

The seed of that self-imposed commission had been planted in Enoc’s heart for a while, which explains why he produced the pieces he brought as part of the islas (“islands”) in his recent exhibition. These pieces include works depicting iconic Puerto Rican buildings, which MAPR curator Juan Carlos López Quintero described as portraits of “triumphant architecture,” as well as his still lifes featuring bottles of local rum along with glassware and tropical fruits. The exhibition also includes paintings that tell of the devastation caused by Hurricane María in 2017, an event that brought him such anguish that, as he recalls, it was impossible for him to take a flight here.

Now his mission is to tell the story, or rather to paint it all, including the good, the bad and the ugly, like the title of that old Clint Eastwood western.

“In our culture, many things are true at the same time,” he remarks on several occasions, adding that “now [that I am] in my fifties, I have realized why I paint.”

In his Spanish tinged with 80s slang, Enoc explains how the years and events brought clarity to his perspective, such as understanding why Francisco Oller stopped working in Paris to return to this little island.

“As the years go by, I realize that it wasn’t a pipe dream; [Oller] invented a tropical style of still lifes,” admits the alumnus of the University of Puerto Rico High School (the legendary UHS). In order to follow through on this mission, Enoc, regarded by curators and art dealers as Puerto Rico’s most famous and successful contemporary artist, has already made countless preparations. Self-proclaimed as an obsessive and compulsive person, he has collections of photos, drink stirrers, books, and many hours of internet browsing. He even went as far as to immerse himself in contemporary rhythms (yes, including reggaeton and trap) to find inspiration to paint this second chapter, which, according to him, could bring him back for an exhibition at the Museo de Arte de Ponce.

Mi primera recomendación es Tu sueño imperios han sido, del talentoso escritor mexicano Álvaro Enrigue. Esta nueva publicación es una novela corta que relata los sucesos de cuando Hernán Cortés conoció a Moctezuma en 1519. Según se nos ha contado, Cortés llegó a Mehxicoh-Tenoxtitlan y permaneció allí por casi un año. ¿Qué hizo? No se sabe, así que Enrigue utiliza el incidente para narrar una posible historia. Este autor ha logrado subvertir la tradicional novela histórica a su manera en sus demás publicaciones, que recomiendo sin reparos, y esta no es la excepción. Aquí, tanto españoles como nahuas ingieren alucinógenos durante la cena de encuentro y lo que sigue es producto de dicha cena, con todos los personajes arrebatados.

La española Rosa Montero tiene una nueva novela, escrita a dos manos con el francés Olivier Truc, titulada La desconocida. En ella, los mosso d’esquadra en Barcelona descubren a una joven en el puerto de la ciudad, lo que da pie a una historia de crímenes terribles, de trata y de la industria de la prostitución. Si buscas una novela tipo suspense, esta debe apelarte.

Summer Is for Reading

You feel a breeze, freshened by the mist of the Atlantic Ocean or the Caribbean Sea... Life is good in your beach chair, nestled under a parasol or a coconut palm tree.

It is summer, and the time is right to relax a little. You don’t have to get up early to drive the kids to school, and you don’t need to think about work for a while. You will finally have a few days to sit down and read. But what should you read?

Here we offer a few suggestions for different tastes. These will tempt you to stay all day at the beach, reading, enjoying the breeze, and relishing life. Just remember to wear sunscreen and stay hydrated, because these books will glue you to your beach chair until you’re done with them.

My first recommendation is Tu sueño imperios han sido (“Your Dream Empires Have Been”), by talented Mexican writer Álvaro Enrigue. It is a short novel that tells the story of when Hernán Cortés met Moctezuma in 1519. We’ve been told that Cortés arrived in Mehxicoh-Tenoxtitlan and stayed there for nearly a year. What did he do? It is unknown, so Enrigue uses this incident to tell one possible version of the story. In all his other publications, which I wholeheartedly recommend, the author manages to subvert historical novel conventions in his own style without exception. In this book, both the Spaniards and the Nahuas ingest hallucinogens during the dinner held to mark this encounter. What follows is the consequences of this, with all dinner guests high on the drugs.

Spanish author Rosa Montero has a new novel she cowrote with French writer Olivier Truc: La desconocida (“Jane Doe”). In this novel, the Mossos d’Esquadra in Barcelona find a young woman in the city harbor, leading to a story of dreadful crimes, trafficking, and the prostitution industry. If you’re looking for a suspenseful story, this is the one for you.

Desde el patio tenemos la primera novela de la reconocida cuentista Awilda Cáez, titulada Todo el mal necesario. En esta narración, Karla, una joven puertorriqueña busca algo que la ayude a escapar de la cotidianidad que la abruma. Por tanto, decide trasladarse a Chicago para redimirse de la culpa que la acecha en Puerto Rico.

En Gente como yo, de José Ignacio “El Chascas” Valenzuela, conocido por la serie de Netflix ¿Quién mató a Sara?, se cuenta la historia de una pareja homosexual en Miami que decide casarse y criar una hija. Aquí el antagonista mayor es la misma sociedad que discrimina contra la familia en su lucha por simplemente existir en paz, como cualquier otro matrimonio.

Así que, adquiere hoy el libro que más te atraiga y tómate un tiempo para ti; gózate la brisa del mar mientras alimentas tu imaginación. Y aprovecha, que el verano siempre pasa demasiado rápido.

From our local authors, we have the first novel written by renowned storyteller Awilda Cáez: Todo el mal necesario (“All Necessary Evil”). In it, Karla, a young Puerto Rican, searches for something that will help her escape her overwhelming everyday life. Therefore, she decides to move to Chicago to find redemption from the guilt that haunts her in Puerto Rico.

Gente como yo (“People Like Me”), by José Ignacio “El Chascas” Valenzuela —known for the Netflix series ¿Quién mató a Sara? (“Who Killed Sara?”)— tells the story of a homosexual couple in Miami who decide to get married and raise a daughter. The main antagonist here is society itself, which discriminates against the family in their struggle to simply exist peacefully, just like any other married couple.

So, get the book you find most appealing right away and take some time off for yourself to enjoy the sea breeze while you fuel your imagination. And make the most of it, because summertime never lasts long enough.

Trabajan más bien en silencio y casi en anonimato, pero, lo que hacen, impacta la historia natural de Puerto Rico y del Planeta. La gente del Proyecto Tinglar, de la organización conocida como Chelonia, rompe noches y duerme con las botas puestas con tal de que la tortuga marina más grande del mundo no desaparezca.

Puede que durante el día algunos sean taxistas, otros biólogos, artesanos, veterinarios, ejecutivos, estudiantes, papás o mamás. Pero cada año, cuando llega a anidar la primera tortuga, toda esa gente, junta y revuelta, llega al punto de reunión con un solo título: el de voluntario.

TINGLAR to Live On!

Their work is silent and almost anonymous, but what they do impacts the natural history of Puerto Rico and the planet. The people behind Proyecto Tinglar, the organization known as Chelonia, are working around the clock to keep the largest sea turtle from disappearing.

Some may be taxi drivers by day, others biologists, artisans, veterinarians, executives, students, or parents. But every year, when the first turtles come to nest, all these people, as diverse as they are, arrive at the same meeting place with a common title: volunteer.

“Del portón para acá todos somos iguales”, dice con plena satisfacción Deborah Feliciano Vernier, la subdirectora del proyecto, quien además coordina una de las tres áreas que cubre esta iniciativa, cuyo nombre completo es: Chelonia, Investigación y Conservación de Tortugas Marinas.

Aunque el lugar que patrullan prefieren mantenerlo en secreto, cuenta Debbie Chelonia (sí, así la conocen a ella) cómo en su momento tomaron posesión de esa playa. Y es que cada año, decenas de estos reptiles marinos en peligro de extinción llegan a este mismo paraje un poco desvalidas.

“Había que proteger esta playa. Cuando [las tortugas] están desovando ellas caen como en un trance; no les importa nada más a su alrededor”, explica la experta, que dedica buena parte de su tiempo a este menester y a reclutar nuevos voluntarios para que se unan a esta encomiable causa.

Raymond Flores es el director y fundador de la organización y da cuenta de cómo comenzó este proyecto en el denominado paraíso de los tinglares por ser uno de los puntos de anidamiento más importantes en la isla.

“Unos policías municipales durante un patrullaje vieron las tortugas y le dieron la voz de alerta a un biólogo. Empezamos con cinco voluntarios, entre ellos una Girl Scout que participaba como parte de su proyecto para obtener su rango Águila. Desde entonces se ha regado la voz y hoy hay casi 100 voluntarios”.

“After entering through these gates, we’re all the same,” says Deborah Feliciano Vernier, subdirector of the project and coordinator of one of the three areas covered by this initiative, called: Chelonia, Investigación y Conservación de Tortugas Marinas.

Although they prefer to keep the place they patrol a secret, Debbie Chelonia (yes, that’s how she’s known) says they once took possession of the beach. Each year, dozens of these endangered marine reptiles arrive at this same spot in a vulnerable state.

“We needed to protect this beach. When [the turtles] are laying their eggs, they fall into a kind of trance; they don’t pay attention to anything around them,” notes the expert, who devotes much of her time to this task and to recruiting new volunteers for this admirable cause.

Raymond Flores, founder and director of the organization, described how this project began in what is known as the “Leatherback Paradise” for being one of the most important nesting sites on the island.

“The municipal police spotted the turtles during their patrol and informed a biologist. We started with five volunteers, including a Girl Scout who was participating as part of a project to earn her Eagle Scout badge. Since then, word has spread, and we now have close to 100 volunteers.”

Facts you might not know about leatherback turtles

• They can dive to depths of approximately 4,000 feet.

• It is the only species of sea turtle that does not have a hard shell.

• They use the light of the moon and stars to guide them, so light pollution is a major problem when they return to nest.

• Their eggs begin to hatch under the sand; the little turtles all gather together to emerge.

El año pasado contaron unos 240 nidos y asegura el director que en esta década la playa secreta del Proyecto Tinglar ha tenido más tortugas que todos los proyectos de Chelonia juntos. Los trabajos del Proyecto Tinglar son organizados y siguen estrictos protocolos. Se dividen en grupos que patrullan 4 millas de playa para divisar, medir caparazones, ficharlas, verificar nidos y un tanto más. Incluso les ha tocado curar a algunos de los ejemplares.

“Verlos de día es un placer, porque puedes notar todos sus hermosos detalles”, añade Debbie, quien asegura que el tamaño de muchas de las que llegan a esta playa es impactante, ¡algunas casi del grande de un Volkswagen Beetle!

Pero el momento cumbre de todo el proceso ocurre 60 días después de ver anidar a esas hembras. La experiencia de ver a los neonatos ansiosos apresurarse hacia las bravas olas del mar es una poesía en movimiento. De eso da fe Sahir Santiago, una de las jóvenes voluntarias que, como los taxistas, los biólogos, artesanos, veterinarios, ejecutivos, estudiantes, papás y mamás, ha respondido al llamado del mar para que vivan las tortugas.

They counted 240 nests last year, and the director claims that Proyecto Tinglar's secret beach has had more turtles than all the Chelonia projects combined.

The work of Proyecto Tinglar is well organized and follows strict protocols. Divided into groups, they patrol 4 miles of beach to observe, measure and log shells, monitor nests, and much more. They’ve had to treat some of the creatures as well.

“Seeing them during the day is a delight because you can appreciate all of their beautiful details,” said Debbie, who assures us that many of the turtles that arrive at this beach are strikingly large, some almost the size of a Volkswagen Beetle!

But the highlight of the entire process occurs 60 days after seeing the females nest. The experience of watching the anxious hatchlings rush toward the rough waves of the sea is poetry in motion. Sahir Santiago, one of the young volunteers, is a witness to this. Like the taxi drivers, biologists, artisans, veterinarians, executives, students, and parents, she answered the ocean’s call to help the turtles live.

MAPR Grand Gala

El mural Horizonte, del pintor Carmelo Sobrino, fue la inspiración de la tan esperada Gala del Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. Los tonos ocre, azul y naranja, entre otros, que se destacan en la obra, sirvieron de base para cada detalle de la ambientación del evento, a cargo de AKUA. Al hotel Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino se dieron cita cientos de amantes del arte para disfrutar y apoyar al Museo. El baile lo amenizó Manny Manuel, Cucco Peña, con su Big Band y Cuenta Regresiva. El menú gastronómico estuvo a cargo de la chef Jannette Berríos.

Horizonte, a mural by painter Carmelo Sobrino, was the inspiration for the long-awaited Gala of the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. The shades of ochre, blue, orange, and other hues that were highlighted in said piece were the inspiration behind every detail of the event’s décor, which was designed by AKUA. Hundreds of art devotees gathered at the Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino to celebrate and support the Museum. Torneo de golf en pro de la educación

El quinto torneo de golf de la Fundación Dr. Carlos López Somolinos se celebró con éxito en los campos Flamboyán y Palm, de Palmas del Mar, en Humacao. Con la inscripción de 180 jugadores, los fondos recaudados en el evento contribuirán a la misión de la entidad de ofrecer becas a estudiantes de alto rendimiento académico en desventaja social y económica. La entidad sin fines de lucro lleva 13 años establecida, y están convencidos de que una buena educación es la base para fomentar cambios en la sociedad.

The Dr. Carlos López Somolinos Foundation successfully held its 5th annual golf tournament at the Flamboyán and Palm golf courses in Palmas del Mar, Humacao. The event, which saw a total of 180 players register, will use the funds raised to support the organization’s mission to provide scholarships to students with high academic performance who experience social and economic disadvantage. This non-profit organization has been operating for 13 years with the conviction that a good education is the foundation for fostering change in society.

5k en familia de Dorado Academy

Mucha diversión fue el resultado del Family Fun & Run Day and 5K de Dorado Academy. La actividad, celebrada frente al hotel Embassy Suites en Dorado del Mar, contó con inflables, juegos divertidos, kioskos de comida y más. Hubo carreras para chicos, adultos y hasta para perritos.

Plenty of fun was the outcome of Dorado Academy’s Family Fun & Run Day and 5K. The event, which was held in front of the Embassy Suites hotel in Dorado del Mar, featured inflatables, fun games, food kiosks, and more. There were races for kids, adults, and even for the doggies in attendance.
