Welcome Runners

Peninsula State Park awaits you, but rst this event guide awaits you! The following pages contain all the info you’ll need for race weekend. Please review in its entirety. Thank you and see you Saturday!

Event Schedule

Friday

4:00 - 7:00 pm - Packet pickup/on-site registration at Old Fish Creek Town Hall (directions on website)

Saturday

7:00 - 8:00 am - Packet pickup/on-site registration at Welcker’s Point (start/ nish area).

8:50 am - Pre-race runners meeting to go over important course information. Runners must be present

9:00 am - Race Starts

10:00 am - Brats and hot dogs become available for purchase

1:00 pm - Awards are handed out to rst overall nishers

3:00 pm - Race concludes but the party continues

3:30 pm - Brats and hot dogs become unavailable

Course Info

Race Prep - We highly recommend studying the course map. We will have turns very well marked on race day, but a better understanding of the course increases peace of mind and leads to a more enjoyable experience.

Course Markings - Every turn on the course will be marked with agging. Review instructions for what markings to follow based on what distance you are running.

30K - Follow orange ags at all times and directional signs that indicate 30K.

14K - Follow orange ags UNLESS yellow ags and directional signs are present. Then follow yellow ags and 14K signage.

4:00 - 7:00 pm - Sway after party. Runners get a buy one get one free beer at the Sway taproom. Food available till 6 pm 14k

Course Cuto s - Both distances will have a 6-hour time limit (3:00 pm), and the 30k will have an additional cuto at aid station 3 (mile 14.2) at 1:30 pm. These cuto s will be strictly enforced.

The courses separate at Aid Station A and rejoin and separate multiple times after. Familiarize yourself with these intersections before the race. Key Intersections on page 5.

This is an OPEN COURSE - We do not have special privileges or right of way that goes beyond any other park user on this day. Roads are open which means you must check to make sure it is safe to cross. Additionally, make sure you are keeping an eye out for bikers and walkers when on the trails.

Aid Stations - Each aid station will have water, Tailwind, snacks, volunteers, basic rst aid, and trash bins. Cups with uids will be available for you to grab o of tables. You are encouraged to carry bottles and snacks as it will be more time-e cient than stopping (we believe this is an important aspect of the competition). Aid stations provide you with additional support and the option to not carry any personal uids or nutrition. Please do not litter. It will result in a disquali cation. Porta Poties will be at all aid stations.

Gear Check & Drop Bags - Gear check will be available at Aid Station 1. Drop your clothing and we’ll deliver it back to the nish line. 30Kers will have the option to supply a drop bag that will be delivered to Aid Station 2 (mile 9.5) and returned post-race. Look for the drop zone pre-race.

Packet Pickup Info

Packet pickup will take place at the Old Fish Creek Town Hall Friday night and Welcker’s Point (start/ nish) Saturday morning. Directions to both can be found on our website “info” page.

Parking

Parking will be available in the Welcker’s Point Campground, which is directly next to the event concourse. On event day signs, and/or volunteers will direct you. Directions to the Start/Finish can be found on our website penparktrailsfest.com. When leaving the event drive cautiously, other runners may be crossing roads throughout the park. All vehciles parked within the park must have a park pass.

Pre-Race Meeting

At 8:50 am, we’ll have a MANDATORY runners meeting at Welcker’s Point Shelter at the start line. At this meeting we will give nal safety, course, and event updates.

Post Race

Grab snacks & a beverage, cheer on nishers! Sway Beer and other beverages:

• Longtime Friends (Czech pilsner)

• Where the Dark Wind Whirls (dark lager)

• The Higher We Flew (pale ale)

• County Yarrow (saison)

• Seltzer

• NA beverage

At 10:00 am we’ll have brats and hot dogs for sale, with pro ts bene ting the Peninsula State Park Trails Fund. Tell your friends and family to come by! Expect res and music to be present and dress to stay for awhile! We’ll close up Welcker’s Point at 3:30 pm.

Message from the Trails Team

New this year - after we leave Peninsula State Park on November 8th, we’ll head to Sway Brewing & Blending in Baileys Harbor to carry on the post-race celebrations! They’ll be serving food until 6 pm and beer and beverages until 8 pm! Wear your medals, bring your friends and family, and meet some fellow participants and the race crew!

Charity

Thank the volunteers you see Saturday, they make this event possible. All volunteer hours contribute to a cash donation to the PSP Trails Fund. Additionally, all beer and food sales at the event are donated to the park.

With nearly 300 participants registered for the second annual Pen Park Trails Fest, we look forward to continuing this annual celebration of Peninsula State Park and running with you on Saturday! Thank you for embracing a likely chilly November 8th morning with us, and here’s to a great and safe day on the trails. See you soon!
