The story of how brothers Henry, Jojo, and Ringo Garza—known to most of the world as Los Lonely Boys—rode their bluesy “Texican rock & roll” sound from San Angelo, Texas, to worldwide fame is one of rock music’s great Cinderella tales. The three young brothers formed a band, got signed to a major label, and had a hit single that propelled them to stardom. They sold 2.5 million records, won a Grammy, and received five more Grammy nominations over the span of their career. Los Lonely Boys have been making music together for 17 years now, and they show no signs of losing inspiration.

“Hurray for the Riff Raff puts on one colossus of a show.” – Third Coast Review

Alynda Segarra, Hurray for the Riff Raff founder, has been something of a modern Huck Finn, an itinerant traveler whose adventures prompt art that reminds us there are always other ways to live. Born in the Bronx and of Puerto Rican heritage, Segarra train-hopped their way across the country before eventually finding home—spiritual, emotional, physical—in New Orleans, where they formed a hobo band. As Hurray for the Riff Raff, they rose steadily from house shows to a major label on the strength of their one-of-a-kind songwriting and magnetic live performances—maintaining through it all a devotion to the outsider. Hurray for the riff raff, indeed.

If the ghosts of soul divas were smoking and playing poker, their cackling laughter would sound like Ruby James—timeless spirit, modern heart. For this show, James will be joined by Davina & The Vagabonds, back at DCA by popular demand. Davina & The Vagabonds have created a stir on the national music scene with their high-energy live shows, level A musicianship, sharp-dressed professionalism, and Sowers’s commanding stage presence. With influences ranging from the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Fats Domino to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits, Davina and her compatriots spurn era, expectation, and classification.
