Can strongly lensed type 1a supernovae resolve cosmology's biggest controversy? Researchers think so -- and they're using NERSC supercomputers to find them Astrophysicists have discovered how to control the 'micolensing' effects of strongly lensed Type 1a Supernovae with supercomputers at NERSC. Armed with this knowledge they believe they will be able to find 1,000 strongly lensed Type Ia supernovae in realtime from LSST data -- that's 20 times more than previous expectations.
